I listened to Obama’s speech last night. When I saw the transcript, I was surprised that it was so short. The speech itself carried on for about 20 minutes.
But, it wasn’t the slow dramatic delivery that bothered me. It wasn’t the orgasmic genuflection of the audience, especially the blonde who was standing immediately behind Obama, that rubbed me the wrong way.
It was what the man said. It was not only politically unpalatable, but towards the end of the speech, his words disturbed me on a spiritual level as well.
“And while Washington is consumed with the same drama and division and distraction, another family puts up a For Sale sign in the front yard. Another factory shuts its doors. Another soldier waves goodbye as he leaves on another tour of duty in a war that should’ve never been authorized and never been waged.”
As much as the dems want to return to sept 10, 2001, ignoring jihadism just doesn’t work. Been there, done that. It’s just so Nineties…
“It’s a choice between having a debate with the other party about who has the most experience in Washington, or having one about who’s most likely to change Washington. Because that’s a debate we can win”
Experience vs change? Hmm, yup I think we will accept that debate. The National security issue will be big next fall.
“And if I am your nominee, my opponent will not be able to say that I voted for the war in Iraq; or that I gave George Bush the benefit of the doubt on Iran; or that I support the Bush-Cheney policy of not talking to leaders we don’t like. And he will not be able to say that I wavered on something as fundamental as whether or not it’s ok for America to use torture – because it is never ok. That is the choice in this election.”
No, you were in the Illinois Legislature when that vote was taken. And, if you had the opportunity to review the same intelligence documents and reports that the rest of the Senate saw, is it possible that your opinion might have been different?
If not, then why not? Every international intelligence estimate supported the decision to stop Saddam’s threat to regional stability and the threat to the global economy. How can you justify doing nothing, especially so soon after 9/11/01?
You won’t have to worry about answering the torture question if you face McCain.
“The Republicans running for President have already tied themselves to the past. They speak of a hundred year war in Iraq and billions more on tax breaks for the wealthiest few who don’t need them and didn’t ask for them – tax breaks that mortgage our children’s future on a mountain of debt at a time when there are families who can’t pay their medical bills and students who can’t pay their tuition.”
Nobody has spoken about a hundred year war in Iraq. But, if you think that the American military has no business having bases around the world, then that’s an issue we can debate.
As far as the tax cuts for the rich meme, I’ve already discussed that in detail. Maybe I need to do it again.
I’ll be the President who ends the tax breaks to companies that ship our jobs overseas and start putting them in the pocke“ts of working Americans who deserve it. And struggling homeowners. And seniors who should retire with dignity and respect.”
We’ll have the President who nails the “going out of business” sign on the IRS. Tax fairness through the Fair Tax.
“I’ll be the President who finally brings Democrats and Republicans together to make health care affordable and available for every single American.”
Health care is already available for every single American. Affordability is now, and has always been the crux of the issue. It’s time to have this debate, and take the demogoguery off the table.
“We will put a college education within reach of anyone who wants to go,”
What country do you live in? A college education is available to anyone who qualifies to go. These days, that just boils down to being able to fill out an aplication for admission, and an application for financial aid.
“Instead of just talking about how great our teachers are, we will reward them for their greatness, with more pay and better support. ”
That sounds like merit pay. Glad to have you on board. Of course, paying teacher’s salaries is a state expenditure. Maybe you’re getting the Illinois Legislature confused with the federal government.
“And we will harnesses the ingenuity of farmers and scientists and entrepreneurs to free this nation from the tyranny of oil once and for all.”
You’re going to, what? Harness the ingenuity? Bwahaha.
How’re you gonna do that Barry? Do you know something about a miracle fuel that nobody else knows? But, if you get elected, you’ll share the secret, and harness the scientists to make the miracle fuel, the entreprenuers to market it, and the farmers to grow it? Gee, what a guy!
“And when I am President, we will put an end to a politics that uses 9/11 as a way to scare up votes, and start seeing it as a challenge that should unite America and the world against the common threats of the twenty-first century: terrorism and nuclear weapons; climate change and poverty; genocide and disease.”
Please listen carefully.
The surprise attacks of 9/11 had nothing to do with poverty, climate change, nukes, or disease. Get it? Got it? Goooood.
The fact that you would bring up 9/11 as an issue to win votes, but then criticize anyone who would do the same thing is a little inconsistent, ya’ know?
“We need you to stand with us, and work with us, and help us prove that together, ordinary people can still do extraordinary things.”
Most of us, who have lived long enough, have gotten over the grandiosity of youth. But, if you still need proof that ordinary people can do extraordinary things, then I have a suggestion. Read your Bible.
Or, if reading the Bible offends your sensibilities, then read any American History book published before 1970.
“I was a young organizer then, intent on fighting joblessness and poverty on the South Side, and I still remember one of the very first meetings I put together. We had worked on it for days, but no one showed up. Our volunteers felt so defeated, they wanted to quit. And to be honest, so did I.”
The best cure for joblessness and poverty is …….wait for it …… a job. Not meetings, rallies, causes, rants, and raves. Just a plain old job.
C’mon Barry, this really isn’t that tough to get.
“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. We are the hope of those boys who have little; who’ve been told that they cannot have what they dream; that they cannot be what they imagine.”
We are, that we are…
Sounds blasphemous to me.
“We are the hope of the father who goes to work before dawn and lies awake with doubts that tell him he cannot give his children the same opportunities that someone gave him.”
“We are the hope of the woman who hears that her city will not be rebuilt; that she cannot reclaim the life that was swept away in a terrible storm.”
“We are the hope of the future; the answer to the cynics who tell us our house must stand divided; that we cannot come together; that we cannot remake this world as it should be.”
Good grief. He’s not running for President. He’s running for Messiah.
It is heresy for anyone who claims to be a Christian to make these statements.

[...] Obama’s Super Tuesday Speech [...]
Obambi had a check-up the other day, and this is what they found.
OOH!
Good piece.
Another good piece.
Talk Radio Fails Conservatives.
Henh…about to get really ugly, one could say BuFugly, for the donks.
Wait…what did he say?
The NIE was faulty…waterboarding works…Pelosi knew?
Dang!
As usual, this post hits the bulls-eye…or, should I say, donkey-eye. The rhapsodious nature of the Obama supporters who were in the camera view during his Super Tuesday speech was cult-like. Scary, even. Obama’s speeches are long on superfluousness but short on policy substance. And, whenever he actually elaborates a policy position it is practically identical to the radical socialism embraced by Hillary and the moveon.org lefties. Oh, well…
thanks CF.
n2l, I just watched a video of ‘il bama.
He does have all the whole mussolini body language thingy going.
I told ya’!
/didn’t i told ya’?
Mark Halperin of Time is stating he has triple sourced, that Mitt drops out today. He is on Fox now.
Stay tuned.
dang. just dang.
I am amazed at just how blind someone can make themselves. You chose to ignore everything that is put in front of you. I’ll go line by line since you felt it was necessary to do the same thing.
Barack is not suggesting that we ignore jihadism. He just agrees with most of America (at least the educated portion) that the attack on Iraq has done nothing to quell terrorist activity.
After seven years of failed Republican policies, change is exactly what this country needs. I think the 2006 election proved that.
Many members of Congress read the same intelligence and came to the same conclusion: a war with Iraq will not solve anything.
A lot of experts have said that we need to be in Iraq for another 80 years at the current rate. Have you even read the news in the past six months?
One federal department going out of business is better than a ten percent unemployment rate. We’re not too far away from that.
Health care is not available to every American. If you don’t have a job you don’t have access to health care.
The same goes for financial aid for college. Do you realize how much more difficult it is to get aid now that Bush has stripped all but private scholarships away from the needy children of this country?
I’m pretty such No Child Left Behind has already proven itself to not work. We need new ideas.
Yes. Harnessing ingenuity. It’s a radical idea but it’s much better than drilling for oil in places around the world that causes nothing but pain and suffering for the inhabitants: both human and animal.
9/11 had nothing to do with those things that he talked about. That was the point. Try listening some time rather than just forming an opinion before that person has opened their mouth.
History books published before 1970 (bible included) are mostly opinion-based, archaic propaganda used to brainwash people. I see it worked on you.
Until the economy gets better, jobs aren’t in high enough supply to enable everyone to have one. It’s called poverty, and just because you refuse to accept its existance, doesn’t mean it’s not there.
And Barack Obama might be a messiah. Not the Messiah, but someone who can lead us out of the darkness that has plagued our country for the past seven years.
As soon as you open your eyes and stop believing everything that you hear on Fox News or whatever racist spoutings your grandfather talks about over Thanksgiving dinner, then and only then will this country be able to turn around and do what is right.
Your ignorance is the reason that this country is in a tailspin. It has nothing to do with the lax morals of liberals or anything like that. It’s extremists of all kinds. And that includes everyone from jihadists to evangelical Christians.
if you want this guy as your messiah, so be it. He’s not mine.
You’re really a sad case. But I won’t insult you by offering my pity.
There is a great difference between being educated and being informed. If you think that the events of the past 6 months in Iraq have not quelled alqaeda activities, then, you’re not informed.
Go back and review the vote on military action. It was 77-23. To say that “many” opposed it is just innacurate.
A 10% unemployment rate? Good grief. Where do you get that?
Health care is available to everyone. Citizen or not. No one is refused health care. The uninsured case load is a great threat to the continued solvency of the health care system. As I said, the crux of the issue is affordability.
Financial aid? I’ve got 2 in college right now. Tell me something I don’t know about.
You have either not lived long enough to know the facts of life, or you’re simply educated, but uninformed.
Obama has neither the life experience to lead, nor the practical experience to defend the Nation. Senator Gravitas will be easy pickings on election day. Bring him on.
Uhhh…hmmm.
A B-HO troll, how cute.
This one even uses the tried and false method of claiming superior intelligence and morals.
B-HO is a Marxist, just like Shrillary, only B-HO is getting a free ride with his emotional supporters. His empty rhetoric and countless platitudes only exemplify his emptiness, and that of his supporters. Looking at his words, it is so plain for any reasonable person to see that B-HO is just saying what his over emotional, and intellectually challenged supporters want to hear. B-HO has an excellent chance to get elected, but that doesn’t mean he will get anything done. Oh, he could order the troops home as CIC, and that hit will go on his record for the disaster that will follow. Other than that, he can’t make the changes he wants, as long as there conservatives in Congress. It only takes one Senator to shut down debate in the Senate on any issue, just ask Dianne Fienstein.
If B-HO is the nominee, his vacuousness will be clearly exposed, especially his understanding of the economy and national security.
He is a tool for the Marxist, the muslims, and the dreamy-eyed leftards in this country.
He’s not a tool for the muslims, he IS a muslim.
