The will of the court vs the will of the people

The California Supreme Court overturned a voter-approved ban on gay marriage Thursday in a ruling that would allow same-sex couples in the nation’s biggest state to tie the knot.

Domestic partnerships are not a good enough substitute for marriage, the justices ruled 4-3. LINK

The court wins…..The California SC taking this position, in an election year no less … liberal elitist arrogance personified.

  1. Will of the people be damned, once again.
Next stop, Ninth Circus, then to the Supremes.

  2. Of course. Somebody read me that part in the constitution again that says that people are entitled to marry those of the same sex?

  3. It’s right there next to the right to have sex with sheep.

  4. Ya know, I have found out that I’m 1/4 coonass. I wonder if I can get some “entitlements” now. That’s got to be some kind of minority here, in CA. On the other hand, it explains why I like it here with y’all…

  5. What really sucks here is: We, the people of California, said by majority vote, we don’t want queers to have the same rights as legally married people. A marriage has always been between one man and one woman, and we voted to keep it that way. A court has no right to make a new law. It is more than an assault on the Constitution, it is breaking the law. The justices should be disbarred.

  6. I’ll see ya tomorrow, I need to calm down now….

  7. Congratulations, Robert D!
No, being a coon-ass doesn’t get you any entitlements, from the gubmint. What it does do is helps explain that stubborn, independent, and self-reliant nature in your personality. A particular strain of meanness that gets unleashed on idiots, but never on old folks, children, or pets.
Coon-asses are some mighty fine folks, once they get to know you a little.

  8. Thanks n2l. I wondered how that stubborn streak stayed with me all these years. After all, I was born in L.A. not LA, so it must be an inbred state of mind. I like it.
