“Honor Killing in Pakistan” from  Ummah News Links

In a spine-chilling incident of honour killing, a couple were burnt alive in a Pakistan village in front of their children, a good 10 years after their marriage, police said today.

Zahoor Ahmed and his wife Naseem were burnt alive in front of their four children in Chak Saboo village yesterday.

Ahmed had allegedly kidnapped Naseem 10 years ago to marry her, police said.

Sandy Berger’s Paper Caper

What information did Bill Clinton authorize his NS Advisor to examine in the Archives? Was this the same information that Sandy Berger stole, hid, destroyed, lied about, and later copped a plea to, or was it different information altogether.

Now that the democrats have taken charge of the Congress with the pledge to investigate and learn the truth, perhaps they can prevail upon the Clinton Library to release the only other known copies of the documents that exist. But, I doubt it.

And speaking of historical archives, I came across this old piece from Don Feder (Jewish World Review).

Maybe one of the things that the Clintons and the democrats don’t want to be reminded of is the fact that they demonized Milosevik for fighting a war against muslim extremists, and led Nato on a 3 month bombardment of the Serbs.

The tragedy has its roots in the early 1990s, when the West decided Bosnians and Croatians were entitled to their own states. Fine, said Belgrade, but why should 2 million Serbs living there be forcibly expatriated? Who would protect their rights — the Bosnian Moslems who committed genocide against Serbs in World War II?

When local Serbs tried to secede from the secessionist states, they were reviled as racists who hated all non-Serbs and lived to rape and plunder.

After Bosnia and Croatia came Kosovo. Albanian Moslems became a majority in Serbia’s ancient heartland through illegal immigration. They started when the Kosovo Liberation Army (on the State Department’s terrorist list as late as 1998) began murdering Serb policemen.

Milosevic overreacted. At Rambouillet, the-President Clinton and Secretary of State Madeleine Albright gave him an ultimatum (surrender of sovereignty over all of Yugoslavia) no self-respecting nation could accept. After the Gulf War, Washington was determined to prove its human-rights commitment by coming to the aid of persecuted Moslems. The result was the creation of a second de facto Islamic republic in Europe.

A great read. And still timely.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Reported Dead

UPDATE:   NowPublic member Ed Jenks is reporting that Pajamas Media missed this story, and in fact, the Iranian government is reporting that Khamenei is still around…

Pajamas Media is reporting the demise of Ali Khamenei

PJM in Santa Monica

A source close to Pajamas Media has learned that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has apparently succumbed to the cancer that hospitalized him last month, as exclusively reported by Pajamas Media, at age 67. He has been Iran’s most powerful figure since replacing Ayatollah Khomeini in the role of Supreme Leader in 1989.

PjM Update:” Some sources, evidently including a family member, are reporting that Khamenei, in grave condition, was alive as recently as yesterday. Our source reported that he died today. More to come. It is the middle of the night in Iran.”

More Updates from PjM:

“It is a rumor circulating in Tehran,” Amir Taheri told Richard Miniter, PJM Washington editor. “There is no way to know if it is true.”

Taheri was responding to a Pajamas Media post yesterday of a report … as yet unconfirmed… that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is dead.

Taheri is an Iranian-born journalist with a wide range of sources inside and outside of his former homeland. He was executive editor-in-chief of Kayhan, Iran’s most read newspaper, from 1972 to 1979. Later, he joined the staffs of Britain’s Sunday Times and Germany’s Die Welt. Today, he is columnist for the New York Post. Pajamas Media tracked him down in London.
Under Islamic law, any corpse must be buried no later than the sundown after the day of death. So Iran’s state-run media would have to make some statement soon, if the Islamic Republic’s Supreme Guide were indeed dead, Taheri said.

YNET is reporting that “Practically all media outlets in Iran are
closely supervised by the regime and have yet to deny the report. The
only website which responded to the rumors was Baztab, which is owned
by Mohsen Razaee, the secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council
of Iran, and which claimed that the report was “an Israeli conspiracy.”

The Absent minded professor

Steven Levitt (freakonomics) recounts this humorous ‘first-day of class’ anecdote…

As I stood in front of the room looking over my notes as the last few students filed into class, one of the students approached me and pulled me aside, looking quite serious. Usually this means the student is concerned that he or she doesn’t have the appropriate prerequisites for the course and wants my assurance that he or she will still be able to understand the class.

This time, though, it was something different. “Professor,” he said, “You seem to have something on your pants.”

I looked down and realized that I had failed to notice, when putting on new pants my wife had given me for Christmas, that there was a huge black and white sticker that ran nearly the full length of my leg still stuck on the pants.

“New pants,” I said.

That student will definitely get an A in the class.

At least it wasn’t his zipper.

Somali Christian Blog Abandoned?

A few days ago I promised myself to try to find out what has happened to the ‘Somali’s for Jesus’ Blog. It monitored the killing of Christians in Somalia by Islamists and the Islamic Courts. Of course the history of the country has moved on and a rout of the Islamists form Mogadishu is now well documented. But this blog stopped suddenly on September 17th. Here is a sample of the posts there finishing with a very poignant one which at the time hit the world headlines. Then that was it – silence.

Somalis For Jesus! condemns in the strongest terms possible the barbaric murder of Ali Mustaf Maka’il on September 7, 2006. Ali was shot and killed in Mogadishu by a militia member of the jihadist Union of Islamic Courts after he refused to join a Qur’an chanting crowd in response to the lunar eclipse.

Ali converted to the Christian faith eleven months ago and his killing is an attempt by the Taliban style jihadists to eliminate the Somali Christian community.

The Legal Encyclopedia defines genocide as “the crime of destroying or conspiring to destroy a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.”2 The Encyclopedia continues to say “Genocide can be committed in a number of ways, including killing members of a group or causing them serious mental or bodily harm, deliberately inflicting conditions that will bring about a group’s physical destruction.”

Powerful Muslim leaders in Somalia have repeatedly called their supporters to eradicate, to kill, to slaughter and to dispossess the Somali Christian community. These Muslims were able to kill many Christians and harass others but they failed to eliminate the Christian community. This community of faith is the Lord’s and He is their protector.

Nairobi – An elderly nun shot four times at the Somali hospital where she worked forgave her killers as she lay dying, her colleagues have revealed. Sister Leonella, 65, muttered the words “I forgive, I forgive” in Italian after being targeted by gunmen in an apparent execution-style killing, Father Maloba Wesonga said at the nun’s memorial mass in Nairobi on Monday.

I intend to try to find out what has happened . If anyone else has any ideas please let me know in the comments below. I fear the worst – with good reason.
