Chi-coms quitting the party in droves

DOH points to a very interesting story regarding Red China…and the Chinese Communist Party:

From Dec. 03, 2004 to Mar. 31, 2007:

Grand total number of people quit CCP/AO:20,155,948
This month’s number of people quit CCP/AO:1,130,928
This week’s number of people quit CCP/AO:182,505
Yesterday’s number of people quit CCP/AO:31,427

That’s right people, you read that correctly…over 30 thousand resignations per day!

Atty Gao Zhisheng quotes from a Chinese website, so you fact checkers that speak the language are welcome to check it out for yourself.

The numbers are staggering. 20 million resignations from party membership in just over two years. Amazing.

Recess appt for SVT donor

I remarked last week that the President’s tenor, and VP Cheney’s response to the democrat surrender plan might just be a sign of the death of the very one-sided “New tone in DC”.

Chris Dodd sees a declaration of war by the WH, and John F. Kerry (who served in Viet Nam) has voiced his outrage at the recess appointment of Sam Fox to the ambassadorship of Belgium. Kerry’s attack on Fox was partisan revenge for Fox’s financial support of the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth, a 527 Group of veterans opposed to the Kerry Presidential candidacy.

Mary Ann Akers in the Washington Post phrased it in a way that I thought was particularly delightful:

Kerry led the fight to quash Fox’s nomination, though he never got the chance to declare victory after Bush withdrew the nomination. source

Science Is God’s Language!

I have found there is a wonderful harmony in the complementary truths of science and faith. The God of the Bible is also the God of the genome. God can be found in the cathedral or in the laboratory. By investigating God’s majestic and awesome creation, science can actually be a means of worship.

Collins: Why this scientist believes in God.

I came across this article this morning, and thought it threadworthy for several reasons. Primarily because I have asked this question before, having both a strong belief in God the father, and his only son, Jesus Christ, and how he suffered for our sins. There was a time when I doubted those truths, as a young man growing and learning, and trying to make sense of the world I lived in. These truths were further challenged while in college, as the prevailing conceit at university is that the only answers to be found are those we can prove through the scientific method.
I have witnessed the miracle of birth, the sadness and tragedy of death, and the renewal of life in springtime. Those events have always made it difficult to question the existence of God, but I too desired more proof, and the ‘leap of faith’ was unsatisfying.
For me, the strongest proof came one day, while stationed at the U.S.A.F. Academy. I was fighting to gain permanent custody of my twin girls, which was very difficult, and had just learned my father had only months to live. I was angry, and I was hurting, and didn’t know how to deal with these challenges. In a fit of anger and tears, I asked…no, I yelled to God, to please help me, something I had never done before. A strange sensation came over me, my tears stopped, and I went to my knees involuntarily…literally! There was a force, a power, that gently pushed me to my knees, and my surprise at this gave way to a relaxed resignation, that what I needed was at hand. I prayed, like I had never prayed before, and recalled later, that I hadn’t prayed since I was a pre-teen. After praying, and saying Amen, I sat on my bed and pondered what had just happened, and the only explanation was that God had heard me, and shown me what I needed. I was a changed man after that night.
I see God everywhere now, and see the order in the universe, and it’s beauty, as his nonverbal communication for us, as well as his love. Whenever I encounter someone who doubts, I don’t berate them, or try to show them the way, as I know first hand it’s a personal journey. I do, however, offer to take them deer hunting with me, so they can see the world awaken with dawn, as God’s eye appears in the east, in the form of the Sun, and the beauty of his creation as it brightens and awakes, on a cold winter morning. To me, it’s sensory overload, and a reaffirmation of my belief in God, and the wonders he has created.

Burqa-clad Taleban leader caught

pelosiburqa1.jpgKABUL (Reuters) – Afghan soldiers have captured a Taliban leader who tried to flee a security operation in the south dressed in a burqa, NATO said on Wednesday.

Tuesday’s capture in Kandahar province came as NATO launched a major offensive in neighboring Helmand to secure a key hydroelectric dam and combat the opium trade.

The man was named as Mullah Mahmood and described as an expert bomb-maker. U.S.-led coalition forces also detained five more suspected militants in eastern Khost this week. source
