Gonzales is Roadkill. Let’s make some stew

Mark Levin says criticizing Alberto Gonzales is like clubbing a baby seal, calling him a weak man, incapable of defending himself, much less being able to advance a conservative agenda.

The general acceptance among Republicans that Gonzales should go is disturbing to me. Not that I’m a great fan of the AG. It’s just that there are some legitimate questions that Gonzales could shed some light on and perhaps, in the process, turn the momentum from a defensive posture.

In other words, if Gonzales is already roadkill, shouldn’t someone suggest making some stew? Here’s my recipe:

1) Mr. Gonzales, why haven’t you fired Johnny Sutton?

2) Mr. Gonzales, in the last six months, agents along the Southwest border caught 15 people from Iran, 35 from Pakistan, 12 from Jordan, two from Syria and five from Lebanon. Can you understand why so many of your own party are unhappy with the out of control border situation?

3) Mr. Gonzales, who approved of the very lenient plea bargain for Sandy Berger?

4) When will Mr. Berger be required to take the lie detector test that was called for in the plea bargain? Why has it taken so long?

5) Why did your Department not notify the 9/11 Commission about Berger’s activities in a timely manner?

This is a recipe with the potential for some mighty tasty vittles, indeed.

Oh yeah, The Great One has asked for other pundits to join him in his call for the resignation of Harry Reid for yesterday’s cowardly declaration of defeat. Count me in. Again.

  1. Somebody needs to tackle Harry Reid and rub him down with hormone cream or something.

I get the impression that if his wife would say “Honey, could you get the door? I think it’s the Girl Scouts” he would start sobbing “No, NO, for the love of God no! They’re in uniform! We can’t win, just give them money and maybe they’ll go away! Yes, yes, I’ll buy ALL the cookies as long as they don’t hurt me!”

  2. Gonzales needs to answer nuke’s questions, but the question as to the firing of the attorneys is none of Congresses business. If they must have an answer, he should tell them that their mouthwash and deodorants were ineffective.
As for Reid, he can’t honestly believe the fight in Iraq is lost. As a successful *cough*real estate*cough* speculator, he could never have such a negative attitude, and pull off such high dollar deals, often after waiting for long periods of time, before the cash came in.
Therefore, the only explanation must be it’s an act, designed to froth up his nutroots support, and promote his opportunistic agenda, irrespective of the damage it does to the country.
So of the two, yep, Mark is correct, Sen. Reid should resign…now!

    * “I believe . . . that this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything, as is shown by the extreme violence in Iraq this week.”–Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, April 19, 2007

    * “Resolved, that this convention does explicitly declare, as the sense of the American people, that after four years of failure to restore the Union by the experiment of war, during which, under the pretence of military necessity, or war power higher than the Constitution, the Constitution itself has been disregarded in every part, and public liberty and private right alike trodden down, and the material prosperity of the country essentially impaired, justice, humanity, liberty, and the public welfare demand that immediate efforts be made for a cessation of hostilities, with a view to an ultimate convention of the States or other peaceable means, to the end that at the earliest practicable moment peace may be restored on the basis of the federal Union of the States.”–1864 Democratic platform
