WFFOT: Aaaaaaaaay!

jumping-the-shark.jpg MILWAUKEE (AP) – The ultra-cool Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli is coming to Milwaukee – permanently. A bronze statue of the leather-jacketed biker from “Happy Days” will be erected in Milwaukee, where the TV sitcom was set, now that local groups have raised the $85,000 needed to do it.”Holy mackerel!” said actor Henry Winkler, who played Fonzie during the show’s run from 1974 to 1984, when he first heard about the effort to immortalize the character.

“The second thing that hit me was, ‘What a phenomenal compliment,'” he told The Associated Press in a phone interview this week from his home in California. “I mean it’s not often you have a dream when you’re 7 lying in your bed, you get to live your dream out and then someone is going to erect a life-size statue of your creation.

  7. As Martin Niemoller famously said, first they came for Piglet, and I did not speak out because I was not a Disney character and, if I was, I’m more of an Eeyore. So then they came for the Three Little Pigs, and Babe, and by the time I realized my country had turned into a 24/7 Looney Tunes it was too late, because there was no Porky Pig to stammer “Th-th-th-that’s all, folks!” and bring the nightmare to an end.

    Yep…it’s Mark Steyn.

Tom Cruise on Tom Cruise: Scientologist. Youve probably heard of and/or seen this video – still I had to post it. Its just too hilarious. Consider it an object lesson in why actors need script writers. In fact, the writers who are having their write…

  9. Good grief. Just when I think it is not possible for the British government to get more effed up than they already are, they have to go and prove me wrong. Again.

  10. Phelps Family Hate Cult to Picket Heath Ledger’s F

Im sure everyone has heard about the death of actor Heath Ledger at this point and dont need me to rehash the whole situation. There are plenty of places to find the details. But in connection to this I heard someone on television this morning disc…

  11. I was just listening to the local talk radio station in which people were discussing whether or not our legislators at the D.C. level were on crack because of the “bad economy” scare, and then wanting to broaden and extend unemployment benefits. Sure, that’ll work to stimulate the economy! Make more incentives for people to not work!

As for as unemployment in people who are employed in the housing industry such as tradesmen, I guarantee it could be fixed tomorrow. Enforce the immigration laws.

  12. Florida after 9/11–now THAT was a bad economy.

  13. Retired Green Beret Gets Court Martial After Shoot

The PC Free Zone is reporting that an 80-year-old retired Green Beret has been tried by his peers after shooting an intruder in his Knoxville, Tennessee home. He is the oldest member of Chapter XXXIII of the Special Forces Association.

  14. Our business went bust after 9/11. We had no unemployment insurance because we were the owners. We were not eligible for food stamps. Businesses were not only not hiring, but shutting down right and left. (I only worked at the next job for 3 months before the company folded.) We lost some property, sold a bunch of stuff, and somehow made it through without any governmental handouts or help whatsoever.

I don’t think it is a good idea to condition people to believe that the government is responsible for their standard of living and employment.

  15. I agree, Swampie.
Nine hundred and eleven effed over a lot of people, me included. I barely met business expenses for about six months, and had to live on savings. It never occurred to me that it was any one else’s responsibility to take care of me, but me. I just soldiered on, cut expenses where I could, and got through, then cheered as the sheet-heads that caused the death and destruction became pink mist in the Afghan sky.
When there is a crisis, the only thing I want government to do is make sure that no one suffers needlessly, has shelter, food, water, and medical care, so they can get back on their feet, and restore their own lives. Government giving away money that doesn’t belong to it is simply vote buying, while holding a gun to the heads of those it steals the money from in the form of taxes.

  16. Robert D, check out this post. This incident occurred in your neck of the woods.

  17. There is nothing wrong with unemployment rates today. 5% is astoundingly good.
    Look at the latest figures

  18. Americans Want Long-Term Solutions

The American people will ultimately reject the stimulus package, because it violates one of their deepest beliefs. Americans believe in long-term solutions, not short-term fixes. This Washington insider maneuvering is politics as usual at a time when the American people are crying out for a change of course.

In our American Solutions polling last summer, the American people told us by a margin of 92% to 5% that our goal should be to provide long-term solutions instead of short-term fixes. You can find this and other economic data in the Platform of the American People in Real Change and at AmericanSolutions.com.

Overwhelmingly, the American people told us that they are prepared to be told the truth and for large, fundamental changes.

Short-term fixes are going to be rejected by the American people, and the politicians who endorse them are going to find their reputations suffering as a result.

    Newt gets it.

  19. Humbolt County is the most corrupt of the bunch around here. It is close to the coast and has been a pot growing capitol for years. It’s beautiful to drive through, but don’t stop. The many people that grow pot year after year there are paying protection money, (very little for what they make) and it goes all the way to the top. We have some people that get away with things around here that are reported time after time, but it’s more due to laziness on the deputy’s part than anything else.

  20. Adds a whole new meaning to the term “cash crop” don’t it?

  21. Yup, it do.

  22. Well, I have got to get some things done today, so I can relax and enjoy the evening.
    See y’all this evening.

  23. And “small gardens” are usually overlooked around here anyway, it’s the mexicans and their 35,000 plant gardens that are booby trapped and have illegals living in them that are being targeted.

  24. See ya later.

  25. Well, at least I’m pretty sure that nobody here has had sexual relations with that man, Bill Clinton.
