Homerun! Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech at the RNC (video)

September 3, 2008. Sarah Palin accepts the Republican nomination for Vice-President and knocks it out of the park. I’m loving this.

Here is the video…..

It was a giant test, and she passed it with flying colors. She used humor to go after Obama and the democrats very effectively. It does appear that, in addition to being able to field dress a moose, Gov. Palin can field dress a donkey too.

Clearly the party faithful in St. Paul fell in love with Sarah Palin. And for good reason: In one night, she united the social conservatives and the fiscal conservatives. I really didn’t think it could be done after the very bitter primary season. Guess I’m not going fishing on election day after all.

Yep, I’m feeling good about this election for the first time. And you know something? it feels good to feel good.

Thanks, Sarah!

Oh, I also noticed the new chant from the crowd: “Zero,” a mocking salute to the “O.”

CNN has the transcript

CBS: Smash hit in St. Paul

The Atlantic: Astonishing

Palin’s hometown crowd: “She thumped ’em”

MM: Lady’s Night

The Corner: Hemingway says, “After what she’s gone through these last few days, I think the perception will be that she earned the right to hit back. And hit back she did — masterfully.”

Right Voices: reactions to the speech

Busted: hypocrisy, elitism on full display

Three front page articles critical of Sarah Palin were run by the NYT yesterday. But, thanks to some research by George Marlin, they have now been properly and completely fisked by none other than……..wait for it …………..The NYT.

This is from a 1984 editorial, written in support of Geraldine Ferarro (source)

Where is it written that only senators are qualified to become President?…Or where is it written that mere representatives aren’t qualified, like Geraldine Ferraro of Queens?…Where is it written that governors and mayors, like Dianne Feinstein of San Francisco, are too local, too provincial?…Presidential candidates have always chosen their running mates for reasons of practical demography, not idealized democracy…. What a splendid system, we say to ourselves, that takes little-known men, tests them in high office and permits them to grow into statesmen. . . . Why shouldn’t a little-known woman have the same opportunity to grow?. . . .the indispensable credential for a Woman Who is the same as for a Man Who – one who helps the ticket.
