Friday Link Roundup

Here you go. I know you’ve been waiting for it.

You’ve gotta love Debbie Schlussel. She has positively owned the Khalidi-Obama story. You wonder why the LA Times continues to suppress the tape of the AAAN dinner? This would do it

…here’s what you haven’t yet heard: that a kids’ dance troupe that appeared at the event has a history of simulating beheadings and stomping on American, Israeli, and British flags….[snip]

But they didn’t just dance the debkah.

Suddenly the Sanabel AlQuds dancers pulled out fake swords and rifles and adorned three of their troupe respectively with an American, Isreaeli, and British flag. The others pretended to behead and/or shoot the boys wearing the flags. Then they put red scarves over the three boys heads, signifying blood and no head. Then, the flags were taken off, thrown to the ground, and trampled on by this young group of Milwaukee dancers.

Next up, the definition of “rich” keeps getting defined downward in Obamaworld. Bill Richardson lowers the bar to $120K.

Michelle Obama offers (in 5 seconds) a true critique of the obamessiah’s record … Link

Sarah’s “high-voltage appeal” plays well in the Keystone State.

The Heritage Foundation compares the tax plans of both candidates. Good read.

Horrors: Erica Jong Tells Italians Obama Loss ‘Will Spark the Second American Civil War. Blood Will Run in the Streets’.

So, if the obamessiah is up by double digits in Iowa, WTF is he doing campaining in Iowa right here at crunch time? Hmmm? Iowa Independent has the story.

Ah yes. Nothing demonstrates “Unity”, and “Post Partisanship” better than booting off reporters whose newspapers don’t endorse you. (Unless you consider the TV stations that have been “banned” for daring to ask the oba-biden campaign tough questions).

File this under “who’da thunkit?” … Ohio Secretary of State, the hyper-partisan Jennifer Brunner has some interesting links to that paragon of electoral justice — ACORN.

Warning!!! “Armies of Lawyers” have been deployed to Florida. Heh. Sorry swampie.

Friday Treats

This interview is an absolute treat.

Nigel Farndale, writing in the UK Telegraph speaks with Rush Limbaugh.

Superb.

You really must read it all. Here is an excerpt from “The man who’s always Right:”

Until 1988, when Limbaugh more or less invented the talk-radio format as a political tool, the liberal media in America had a monopoly, he reckons. ‘The reason my show was successful was that so many people with a conservative viewpoint did not think it was being reflected in the media. I validate what they already think.’ He reckons he is not always preaching to the choir, though. ‘We get Democrats. Calls from people who disagree with me all the time. Last week I had a call from a woman in Dallas who said I was causing her high blood pressure because she couldn’t stop herself listening to my show. The doctor told her to stop and she wouldn’t.’

His audience is now 12 times the circulation of The New York Times, he tells me. ‘And you can add up CNN, MSNBC and Fox, and my audience is 20 times that. They have no pretence of objectivity. They are activists now and they make no bones about it. CNN, MSNBC and Fox all opinionise. Like I do. They acknowledge this, and so it has become a battle between the two medias. The liberal media see this Obama candidacy as historic because race is a big deal to them. They think this country committed Original Sin. I actually believe that most of their support for Obama is that they are creaming in their jeans about the historical nature of the campaign. They want to be a part of it.They want to make it happen. They want a stake in it. They want to be able to say they did it if Obama wins.’

Baskin Robbins’ newest flavor ….WFFOT

Rocky Road, maybe? Or Dingleberry Delight? The gross story of the week comes from Down Under (no pun intended).

SYDNEY (Reuters) – A bitter row has broken out between one of Sydney’s largest tourist pubs and a family of five who accused chefs of serving human excrement in their gelato after they complained about noise during a football match.

State government food minister Ian Macdonald confirmed on Wednesday that frozen fecal matter had been found in a serving of chocolate gelato offered to placate pub patron Steve Whyte and his wife Jessica, who became “violently ill” after eating it.

Aaaarrrgh.

McCain gave money to Khalidi? The truth behind the meme

Yesterday, readers of our blog were witness to the birth of viral meme.

An 0bama troll dropped by our post on the LA Times video suppression, and informed us that the Obama-Khalidi association really wasn’t any big deal. Otherwise, why would John McCain have given over $400,000 to a Palestinian group that Khalidi worked with?

I googled his cut-and-paste comment and discovered that the exact same phrase had been already been posted to the internet over 500 times.

That same verbatim phrase now has been posted over 18,000 times!

Obviously the O-bots think it’s working.

The problem is, it is only a distraction, designed to produce an illusion.

Aaron Klein, writing at WND, shines the light of truth on the 0bama cover story.

It’s true that McCain distributed several grants, including one worth about half a million dollars, to the Center for Palestine Research and Studies, or CPRS, a West Bank organization associated with Khalidi.

What the 0-bots fail to mention is that CPRS is pro-Western and can be characterized as pro-Israel.

Its work has been condemned by the Palestinian leadership and by local terror groups as “Zionist propaganda.”

In contrast, the Khalidi organization Obama helped fund as a board member for a nonprofit, alongside domestic terrorist William Ayers, has taken a flagrantly anti-Israel line. Khalidi’s Arab American Action Network has hosted scores of Israel-bashing events, including at least one reportedly attended by Obama.

The Obama-Khalidi connection is one more straw. Is it the one that finally breaks the donkey’s back?

Free The Tape!!!

If this were John McCain’s aunt

Just wondering …  if this were John McCain’s or Sarah Palin’s aunt, do you think we would be reading about it in a British newspaper, only days before the election?

Somehow, I get the feeling that MSNBC snd CNN would have run weeks worth of in depth interviews.  But, since it really doesn’t reflect well on Obama, it just gets ignored.

Who’da thunk it? /s

Buffet sings for obama

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The mayor of Margaritaville is jumping into this year’s political fray. Jimmy Buffett plans a free concert Sunday in Tampa to urge people to vote for Democrat Barack Obama for president. The “Last Chance for Change” rally and concert is happening two days before the election at the outdoor Ford Amphitheatre. People can get two free tickets by visiting any of the early voting information tables the Obama campaign has set up in the Tampa Bay area. Show time is 3 p.m.

Sure hope ol’ Jimmy doesn’t forget to file the proper paperwork for an “in-kind” contribution to Zero’s campaign.

Let’s be sure to check those filings.

Also, I’ve got several Buffet albums free for the taking. Of course, you’re going to have to fish them out of the lagoon.

Obots continue LA Times distraction

Earlier this morning, we discussed the suppression of the Obama-Khalid tapes by the LA Times. The response from the O-Bot mafia was fast and furious. The strategy is to flood the internet with a particular talking point designed only to distract concerned voters from yet another questionable Obama association.

Any good sleight-of-hand requires a small distraction in order for the illusion to be successful. So it has become with the Rashid Khalidi story. Attempting to distract concerned voters from the attention given to Obama’s close friendship with the former PLO spokesman, 0-bot operatives have fanned out across the web to put forth the narrative that this is no big deal, because McCain was responsible for giving Khalidi’s group money through his chaimanship of the IRI.

The exact quote of the 0-bot narrative has now appeared on the internet some 534 times (and climbing). The distraction ignores the salient fact: McCain is a known quantity. Obama is not. The American People know John McCain: his military career, his legislative career, and his unquestioned love of country. The same is not known about the Democrat nominee. Obama’s past is opacity defined, and the people have a right to know much more about this man than has been gleaned from a media widely viewed as being “in the tank for Obama.”

The “cut and paste” talking point brigade has now posted the exact same talking point 780 times, verbatim. In fact, Alan Colmes just repeated it on television. Their best effort changes nothing. The public’s right to know is paramount.

Release the tape.

If A Speech Writer Switches Parties, Would The Media Report it?

Well? Would they?
My response comes with a qualifier.
Yes they would, BUT, only if it were a McCain speech writer, that switched to Obama, not the other way around.
Which is what has happened, with one Wendy Button, as she explains in this piece, SO LONG, DEMOCRATS!
In her words:

Since I started writing speeches more than ten years ago, I have always believed in the Democratic Party. Not anymore. Not after the election of 2008. This transformation has been swift and complete and since I’m a woman writing in the election of 2008, “very emotional.”

You really need to read the whole danged thing, but here are some teasers, that explain when and why the proverbial straw realized gravity is not only a good idea, it is the law.

The final straw came the other week when Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher (a.k.a Joe the Plumber) asked a question about higher taxes for small businesses. Instead of celebrating his aspirations, they were mocked. He wasn’t “a real plumber,” and “They’re fighting for Joe the Hedge-Fund manager,” and the patronizing, “I’ve got nothing but love for Joe the Plumber.”
——–
I can no longer justify what this party has done and can’t dismiss the treatment of women and working people as just part of the new kind of politics. It’s wrong and someone has to say that.

All I can add is, good luck, and best wishes, Ms. Button. I, like you, was abandoned by the donks, years ago. Now that you have begun your education, you will find the learning curve isn’t as steep as you once thought.
The left’s propaganda is effective in creating the myth that liberals are the most tolerant, and support the common man, and woman. You will soon discover, if you haven’t already, the opposite is the truth.
I didn’t make the transition overnight, from supporting the donks, to supporting the GOP, but it was the eventual and inevitable result. I think your transition may be similar.

Coverup! LA Times suppresses incriminating obama video

Update: Any good sleight-of-hand requires a small distraction in order for the illusion to be successful. Obama’s past is opacity defined, and the people have a right to know much more about this man than has been gleaned from a media widely viewed as being “in the tank for Obama.” …………..

end of update

from LAT:

John McCain’s presidential campaign Tuesday accused the Los Angeles Times of “intentionally suppressing” a videotape it obtained of a 2003 banquet where then-state Sen. Barack Obama spoke of his friendship with Rashid Khalidi, a leading Palestinian scholar and activist.

The Times first reported on the videotape in an April 2008 story about Obama’s ties with Palestinians and Jews as he navigated the politics of Chicago. The report included a detailed description of the tape, but the newspaper did not make the video public.

The Times is now claiming that they promised a source not to release the 2003 video … funny how they have waited so long to make this piece of information public.

The entire matter smacks of a Watergate-style coverup of the highest order. The LA Times is on the wrong side of this issue because the public’s right to know the truth is the sole purpose of press freedom. This is crucial evidence in the court of public opinion, and to deny the American People the opportunity to view the actual smoking gun evidence is inexcusable.

Monday moonbat art class

Last week’s Moonbat Art lesson featured an exhibit which allows visitors to shoot a lifesize picture of VP nominee Sarah Palin.

Marvelous.

Not to be outdone, Chad Michael Morisette of West Hollywood, CA has unveiled his version of modern moonbat art: a full size mannequin dressed as Governor Palin – hung in effigy.

AIG has 8 weeks of cash left

At the rate troubled insurance giant AIG is bleeding cash, there are only about 8 weeks left before the well runs dry, according to Mark Tucker, CEO of Prudential PLC.

The difficult situation is exacerbated by the general turmoil in the financial markets as willing bidders for AIG assets are waiting on the sideline.

And what about the original $85 billion bailout fund?

“AIG is using the funds primarily for collateral obligations for the credit default swap portfolio and general corporate funding.” The additional $37.8 billion facility is being used by the securities lending program that AIG operates as part of fulfilling the normal cash needs of the life insurance companies.

As the credit markets are trying to free up liquidity, the fear of a general worldwide recession is growing and adding to the downward pressure on the world’s stock markets. This is hurting AIG by reducing values of collateral that AIG is shoring up with Fed cash. At the same time, the value of investment-grade bonds is dropping, reducing the ability of AIG to raise cash, even from the Fed. This is putting severe pressure on AIG’s ability to operate freely. …

AIG’s Joe Norton would not disclose the date that AIG will release the 3rd Quarter earnings report. If AIG announces that the results will be published on Nov. 4 or 5, perhaps taking a leaf from the political handbook, it could be seen as a sign of extremely bad news that could be covered overlooked by the excitement of the presidential election.

Global de-leveraging continues unabated.

Get those winter gardens in.

Obama locks up key endorsements

On Sunday, Barack Obama scored the stunning endorsement of General Colin Powell, guaranteeing that he would receive over 90% of the black vote.

Tonight, another stunner….. former WH Press Secretary Scott McClellan has endorsed Obama, thus guaranteeing that Obama effectively locks up 90+% of the ass-wipe vote.

This is how we lost to the white man

This article originally appeared on NN&V many moons ago. I think it is timely.

Ta-Nehisi Coates, writing in the Atlantic, has penned an article that will leave me in a reflective mood for some time.

It’s about race. It’s about culture. It’s about America. And, it is an honest appraisal of our unfinished business as a uniquely American culture — a frank and unflinching glimpse into the inner ticking of an African-American writer who takes a close look at Bill Cosby and the message (and the messengers) of black self-reliance.

I’ve written several times about growing up in the 60’s Deep South, believing that this experience gives a unique perspective on the subject of racism. But, as I mentioned previously, growing up on the white side of the divide, I really have no idea of what it was like for the blacks, and I want to thank Mr. Coates for granting some much needed perspective.

Here are a three excerpts:

One more reason to vote for McCain

obama has never experienced the wonder of having those small, trusting faces look up into your eyes and squeal, “Grandpa!” If he keeps believing that babies are “punishment,” then he never will. Pity.

Obamafia vandalizes Senator Coleman’s property

Angry graffiti messages were spray-painted on the garage of Norm Coleman’s St. Paul home overnight and discovered this morning.

“U R A CRIMINAL RESIGN OR ELSE!” was scrawled in black on the side of the yellow garage in the Summit Hill neighborhood.

“SCUM” was written three times on the front, once on each double-bay door and again on a pillar between the gray doors.

I’m no longer surprised by the tactics of the looney left. Intimidation, vandalism, thuggery, censorship … the slogan has become “anything goes” — whatever it takes to elect the obamessiah.

Yesterday there was even a report that John McCain’s campaign bus was shot at. If it weren’t for the internet, I wouldn’t have know about it. The conspiracy of silence from Big Media continues.

The leftards have completely lost touch with sanity. I fear for the Republic.

“Throw the Blackberry away and enjoy life.”

The Ladhe Capital Management group produced eye-popping returns of 866% in one of their hedge funds last year by betting that US subprime mortgages would implode.

They made a lot of money for a lot of investors. For themselves too. Enough for the 37 year old owner, Andrew Lahde to retire.

His farewell advice: “Throw the Blackberry away and enjoy life.”

The rest of his going-away letter was eye-popping as well ……

“The low-hanging fruit, ie idiots whose parents paid for prep school, Yale and then the Harvard MBA, was there for the taking,” he wrote. “These people who were (often) truly not worthy of the education they received (or supposedly received) rose to the top of companies such as AIG, Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers and all levels of our government,” he said.

“All of this behaviour supporting the aristocracy only ended up making it easier for me to find people stupid enough to take the other side of my trades. God bless America.”

“I will let others try to amass nine, 10 or 11 figure net worths. Meanwhile, their lives suck,” he wrote, citing a life of back-to-back business appointments relieved only by a two-week annual holiday in which financiers are still “glued to their Blackberries”.

Might as well. He won’t have nearly as much left after Barry Obama brings hope and change.

The Obamafia gets “in their face”

Recently this website has witnessed Chicago machine-thuggery responding to obama’s exhortation to get in their face. Attempting not only to harass and intimidate, but also to deflect attention from the lack of any substantial record of the community-organizer CIC-wannabe, the Obamafia’s thuggery is truly disgusting.

But given the record of their candidate, it no wonder.

What little record exists is in direct opposition to the messiah-like claims of healing and cooperation.

Some facts about Obama’s record:

Source: 1998 IL State Legislative National Political Awareness Test Jul 2, 1998

Voted YES on continuing federal funds for declared “sanctuary cities”

Voted NO on declaring English as the official language of the US government.

Voted YES on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security.

Voted YES on giving Guest Workers a path to citizenship.

Provide funding for social services for non-citizens. Obama co-sponsored providing funding for social services for non-citizens.

Rated 8% by USBC, indicating an open-border stance. Obama scores 8% by USBC on immigration issues
(U.S. Border Control, founded in 1988, is a non-profit, tax-exempt, citizen’s lobby. USBC is dedicated to ending illegal immigration by securing our nation’s borders and reforming our immigration policies. USBC [works with] Congressmen to stop amnesty; seal our borders against terrorism and illegal immigration; and, preserve our nation’s language, culture and American way of life for future generations)

On Abortion: He opposed the ban on partial-birth abortion — a practice a fellow Democrat, the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan, once called “too close to infanticide.”

Obama strongly criticized the Supreme Court decision upholding the partial-birth ban. In the Illinois state Senate, he opposed a bill similar to the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, which prevents the killing of infants mistakenly left alive by abortion. And now Obama has oddly claimed he would not want his daughters to be “punished with a baby” because of a crisis pregnancy

In 1972, Alinsky warned the Black Panthers and SDS that their tactics would fail, and that if they continued they would end up dead. He said that the only way to bring their brand of radical change to America was to organize the middle class, and empower community groups with massive infusions of cash.

Fast-forward to 2008:  ACORN is flush with cash (along with numerous investigations and allegations of monumental fraud), and middle class thugs are trying to suppress the free speech rights of anyone who would oppose the dear leader.

Be warned. This battle is far from over. In fact, the political Right is only now waking up to the threat. In the next two weeks, the tide will turn decisively in favor of traditional American values.

Have faith.

Why I won’t be voting for Barack

It will come as no great surprise to regular readers of this blog that I have decided to not vote for BH Obama next month. Since several respected Republican pundits and politicians have stirred the pot recently by making their reasoning for endorsing Obama part of the political discourse, I thought I might reveal some of the reasons why I am not supporting him, especially since McCain was not my first, or even my second choice in the Republican primary.

One of the great pleasures of self employment for me is the freedom to decide with whom to do business. In a small business, the need for trust is critical. I wouldn’t any more hire a known liar than I would risk a large inventory to a potential client without an unimpeachable letter of credit. Why would I jeopardize the financial security of those who depend on me by making such an immature business decision?

Further, I wouldn’t knowingly decide to depend upon a supplier with a track record of not doing what he says he will do. Choosing vendors and suppliers is as much about dependability and accountability as it is about cost.

Bottom line is this: since I get to choose, I choose not to do business with liars.

My vote is no less important.

On several occasions, Obama verbally committed to participating in public Presidential financial system, saying he would “aggressively pursue an agreement” with John McCain. In fact, he completed the MDN Questionnaire which included this question…

Question I-B:
If you are nominated for President in 2008 and your major opponents agree to forgo private funding in the general election campaign, will you participate in the presidential public financing system?

OBAMA: Yes. …[snip]… Senator John McCain (r-AZ) has already pledged to accept this fundraising pledge. If I am the Democratic nominee, I will aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election.

In his first major consequential decision, Obama chose expediency over integrity.

Obama lied. Credibility died. His refusal to keep his word is more than troubling. It is a window into his character. If he will lie about money, what else will he lie about?

I don’t do business with liars, nor will I vote for one.

10 things going right in America

Recent news from the markets have caused many Americans to be more concerned about their financial futures than any time in recent memory. Kiplingers reminds us that when life hands us lemons, then make lemonade. Here is their list of 10 things going right in America:

1.Oil Loses Its Swagger: With the U.S. and global economy hurting, oil prices have dropped 50% in just three months, from $147 a barrel in July to the $75 range. Remember $80-$100 fill-ups at the pump? The national average for a gallon of gasoline is down to $3.10, from $4.11 in March, and should stay in the $3.00-$3.50 range through next year. Prices for home heating oil and natural gas are also headed lower this winter than last.

2. A Tipping Point for the Auto Industry: After years of talk and false starts, finally, all the major carmakers are furiously developing hybrid and alternative-fuel vehicles that could lessen our dependence on foreign oil. Meanwhile, desperate dealers are offering unheard-of deals on new, gas-fired models. For example, Toyota is offering $1,000 cash back and 0% financing on the 2009 Camry, the most popular car in America. Don’t drive much? If you’ve always wanted an SUV or truck, the discounting on some models is extraordinary.

3. Interest Rates Are Low and Headed Lower: The prime rate is at 4.5%, which is driving down interest rates on home-equity lines of credit and some consumer loans. The interest rate on a traditional 30-year fixed-rate mortgage is averaging 6.5%, the highest it’s been since the summer of ’07, but still not too far from the historic low of 5.8% reached in 2003-05 and 1963-65. And although credit-card companies are cutting personal spending limits, rates are dropping, too. The average rate on credit-card purchases fell to 11.89% in the first week of October, down from 12.13% in September, according to LowCards.com, which tracks 1,260 credit cards.
