Rendering judgement

During the campaign, candidate Obama urged America not to worry about his history of dubious associations with shady characters. Pay no attention to Rezko, Ayres, and Rev. Wright, his defenders said. “Judge me by the people I will surround myself with.” (video at link)

The list of tax-cheats, and ethically-challenged nominees are detailed in the Fauxbama page. I’m exhausted just trying to keep up with it.

More recently, we’ve learned of communist radical Van Jones who resigned in the middle of the night to avoid MSM scrutiny. We’ve heard the story of Kevin Jennings, who as a teacher, condoned statutory rape of a 15 year old student, and refused to inform the authorities as he was required to by law. Fifteen years later, Jennings boasted about it while speaking to a group of homosexual activists.

Now confronted by his past, Jennings claims to “regret” his mistake in a remorseless admission, all the while describing it as perhaps the latest example of an Obamanian teachable moment.

Today, I was reading Catholic News Agency’s report on Obama’s EEOC nominee, Chai R. Feldblum. In 2006, Feldblum was a signatory to a radical 2006 manifesto which endorsed polygamous households and argued traditional marriage should not be privileged “above all others.”.

Feldblum’s nomination was sent to the U.S. Senate on Sept. 15.

Enough time has passed to do as Obama has requested: to observe the people he is surrounded by, and to fairly discern the type of person Obama is. The answer is quite clear to me.

What say you, America?

Buzzards gotta eat, same as the worms

John Evander Couey, convicted child rapist and murderer has assumed room temperature, depriving Florida and the Lunsford family of seeing Couey’s death sentence carried out.

Mark Lunsford, the victim’s father once said of Couey, that he wouldn’t mind if Couey died at the hands of another inmate, saying “I would be buying a lot of cigarettes for someone.”

Looks like Mr. Lunsford won’t have to buy those cigarettes after all.

Couey died of cancer today in prison.

It’s finally over

Charles Johnson rides into the sunsetThe end of the road, the last hurrah.

I read that Dan Rather’s lawsuit against CBS had been dismissed by an NY appellate court. And Gunga Dan’s lawyers to the contrary, it looks pretty effing final to me. It looks like the end of the trail for old Dan.

So, interveneing events notwithstanding, there’s one blog I simply have to look at, like it or not. You guessed it – AtS. And yup, there it is, posted at 12:22 PM PDT – the story, complete with the throbbing memo and all.

But what’s this ? In 4 hours 17 minutes there have been only 167 comments on what should be a record-setting celebratory thread, including only one by the Amphibian Queen himself, and it has nothing to do with the thread topic. [ed: after 9 hours, 172 comments.]

And what should have been a victory thread was only the top thread for a little over an hour before it was time for a thread slamming Rick Santorum as a creationist right-winger. And all the while, the blog is topped by yet another swipe at Malkin.

its finally overOkay, so there’s hardly anybody left that was there during Rathergate – Chaz has picked off almost all of them. But the fact of the matter is that Chaz himself isn’t really interested anymore. His single greatest achievement, the one that got him his 15 minutes, TV and radio appearances and allowed him to be a founder (flounder ?) of PJM and to think that he had a clue, and not even he really gives a sh*t.

Still wondering what the problem is, Chaz ?

Obama’s “safe school czar” promotes statutory rape

A teacher was told by a 15-year-old high school sophomore that he was having homosexual sex with an “older man.” At the very least, statutory rape occurred. Fox News reported that the teacher violated a state law requiring that he report the abuse. That former teacher, Kevin Jennings, is President Obama’s “safe school czar.”

How did this degenerate get this job?  Has anyone in the White House ever heard of due diligence?

The Washington Times says, “Clearly, the process for vetting White House employees has broken down.”  That assumes that there was ever a vetting process to begin with.  With all of the tax cheats in his Cabinet, waivers of ethics rules for other key apointments, Van Jones’ midnight resignation, and questions about the unprecedented use of “czar” appointments to avoid the Senate confirmation process, Americans of good faith have a right to wonder if this self-proclaimed administration of ethics and transparency is devoid of either or both.

Encouraging and covering up man-boy sexual activity are serious offenses. The White House should force Mr. Jennings to come clean.

A young woman in Ohio get the swine flu and dies.

Why is this a news story on lefty marxist blogs?

Because she lived in Republican John Boehner’s district.

No, seriously.

Update:  JWF links a news article which says the woman didn’t die from swine flu after all.  I suppose this lets the quick-care clinic off the hook for giving the woman pain meds instead of tamiflu.

And for the first time in my adult memory, the objective is to win.

The first five punches landed squarely on the jaw of ACORN, staggering the Democrat media complex in the process.  Resignations, defunding, chaos, fingerpointing, and the beginnings of regulatory investigations have followed.

This week’s mission, exposing the National Endowment for the Arts, has seen the resignation of Yosi Sargeant, a quick non-denial denial of impropriety from the White House, and the expression of righteous outrage at the corruption of the NEA’s mandated purpose by political operatives of the President.

Thanks, Andy.

You may have already seen this video circulating on the web.  To me, it is completely creepy.  Makes my skin crawl.

I know my Baptist friends told me I was crazy when I suggested that this man is the Anti-messiah.

I’ve been consistent on this since obama’s Super Tuesday speech.  Remember?

“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”

Blasphemous.

What else could you call him?

False prophet?

Stadiums, Hotels warned on terrorist threat

from AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — Counterterrorism officials have issued security bulletins to police around the U.S. about terrorists’ desire to attack stadiums, entertainment complexes and hotels — the latest in a flurry of such internal warnings as investigators chase a possible bomb plot in Denver and New York.

In the two bulletins — sent to police departments Monday and obtained by The Associated Press — officials said they know of no specific plots against such sites, but urged law enforcement and private companies to be vigilant. These two bulletins followed on the heels of a similar warning about the vulnerabilities of mass transit systems.

The bulletin on stadiums notes that an al-Qaida training manual specifically lists “blasting and destroying the places of amusement, immorality, and sin… and attacking vital economic centers” as desired targets of the global terror network.

A joint statement from Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation said while the agencies “have no information regarding the timing, location or target of any planned attack, we believe it is prudent to raise the security awareness of our local law enforcement partners regarding the targets and tactics of previous terrorist activity.”

Officials noted the law enforcement bulletins are not intended for the public. Bulletins — particularly about hotels as possible targets — are common, and often don’t make news. However, a half-dozen alerts issued in the last week have received increased attention amid the current investigations in New York and Denver. The first of these, about hydrogen peroxide-based explosives, specifically referred to the investigation in New York.

Separately, law enforcement officials said a Colorado man may have been planning with others to detonate backpack bombs on New York City trains in a terrorism plot similar to past attacks on London’s and Madrid’s mass-transit systems.

Book: Michelle nixes Hillary for VP

From the UK Telegraph, author Christian Andersen reveals this conversation …

“Do you really want Bill and Hillary just down the hall from you in the White House?” Michelle reportedly told her husband. “Could you live with that?”

Actually, the visual of having Bill and Hill just down the hall would be enough to scare the orange off a pumpkin.  And, it worked.

Joe Biden was selected, and Hillary was sent on a never-ending globe trot as  Secretary of State.

Half a trillion in waste and fraud

500 hundred billion dollarsFive. Hundred. Beeeeeelyun. Dollars.

That’s the amount of waste and fraud the president has pledged to eliminate from Medicare and Medicaid, IF the congress will pass his healthcare plan.

My question is this. Mr. President, if you know of a half a trillion dollars in waste and fraud in these programs, then why wait? Why not eliminate the waste and fraud BEFORE you embark on yet another massive government spending program?

Why not identify and punish the perpetrators of this massive fraud, and return these programs to a sound financial footing NOW?

It’s like you have said many times: The status quo is unacceptable.

A half a trillion in waste and fraud is absolutely unacceptable.

Why are Jews liberal?

Ron Rosembaum writing at PJM explains … .

I can only answer by explaining why this Jew is liberal (but no longer left).

Long story short: Ron doesn’t know. He says it was because of liberal support for the civil rights movement in the 60’s.

I’ve got a simpler explanation. It was Teh Cool Party. JFK was cool. Dick Nixon was evil

Same reason many of my generation rejected military service. It wasn’t cool. John Kerry said so. And, Kerry was cool. Dick Nixon was evil.

See how it works?

Interesting sidenote: Ron’s piece is a takeoff from an article by Robert Stacy McCain. Yes, the same Stacy McCain who Chaz Johnson calls a “racist” at the once-great LGF. The continuing meltdown at that website is jaw-dropping.

McCain says it so much better than I. (Yeah, big surprise there)

So, too, we look at Charles Johnson and LGF with a sense of tragedy, made more tragic by the knowledge that Johnson’s sad decline might have been averted. Who knew, at his zenith of influence in 2004, that a mere five years later LGF would be reduced to an almost invisible shadow of its former glory? Who knows why Charles Johnson has chosen to pursue his self-destructive course?

Some people will not listen to reason, nor consider the possibility that they may be wrong. In their arrogance, they never seek advice, or else ignore helpful advice when it is offered to them. When this path produces predictably negative results, they blame others for their problems — often those who mean them no harm. They seek out scapegoats and pursue a course of vengeance, allowing selfishness and anger to poison their souls, making enemies of those whom they just as easily could have made friends.

This is my first and last post that will even mention Johnson and LGF by name. They have been, and will continue to be, “the blog which will not be named.” The hard feelings that followed the bannings of so many of my good e-friends are a distant memory. Fortunately, we’ve been able to reunite at places like GCP, and more recently, 2.0.

Chaz once told the lot of us that if we didn’t like his rules, we were free to start our own blogs. Turns out, that was a pretty good piece of advice that I took. So did the “Band of Brothers,” and all the rest.

No regrets.

Tell Them…WELCOME HOME!

Listening to the radio while driving the other day, I happened upon a host, Jeff Bolton. His show is one of many I listen to, as he has been a strong supporter of our military.

Several callers in a row were veterans of Viet Nam, and at the end of one of the calls I was expecting him to say what so many have said, since G. Gordon Liddy first started doing so in the early 90’s, and that was to say “Thank You For Your Service.”

It was a false expectation on my part, as Bolton said something I was completely unprepared for. Something that made my eyes well up with tears, and caused me to gasp a little.

He stated, for this Viet Nam vet, who probably never heard these words before…WELCOME HOME!

Of course. He was correct, it was seldom said. Even by family and friends. It was as if everyone wanted to forget it ever happened, that it was in the past, and the less said about it, the better.

I came home just as Saigon was falling, more than two years after combat operations ended, and yet, I still had some mental midget yell “baby killer’ at me at LAX. I heard of much worse greetings by returning combat vets.

When I returned, it was a rush to get to a court room in East Texas and begin what would be a custody battle for my children that would last another six years. While my mind was occupied with immediate concerns, my heart still hadn’t made the disconnect with the strong affection I had for the life I had been living in the Philippines, nor of the experiences I had during the evacuation of Saigon in Operations New Life and Operation Babylift.

On several occasions I would attempt to relate some of my experiences with family and life long friends, but they would cut me off and change the subject. They didn’t have to participate in the ugliness or the beauty of it all, and did not want to be reminded of it.

They just did not want to know about it.

Subsequently, it took me much longer to process it all and put it in its proper perspective.

For the vets and active duty personnel here, you will understand what I mean, when I say it is other vets and active duty I feel a stronger kinship with. We know the looks in fellow warriors eyes, without saying a word. For those who never wore a uniform, this is not intended to denigrate you in any fashion. It is just not possible to understand without having been there, even with all the invaluable support you provide.

My reaction to Jeff Bolton’s comment surprised me, and hurt me in a self-pitying way. No, no one ever told me Welcome Home, not even those who loved me most, but it wasn’t their fault, they just didn’t understand. It also hurt for those many I knew who came home to be buried, and for those who were never the same again. They too were never welcomed home.

So, a lesson learned and not to be forgotten.
Whenever you encounter a vet or a returning service member, don’t be shy, shake their hand, thank them for their service, and never fail to always extend a heart felt WELCOME HOME!

It means much, much more than you will ever realize.

Mississippi Tea Party highlights

9-12-09 (Nuke’s News)

From the Mississippi State Capitol,  Seedubya reports a turnout of  “several hundred” Mississippians on an overcast and occasionally rainy Saturday in Jackson.

Seedubya says he was somewhat “underwhelmed”  by the speakers, which included a couple of politicians trying to take advantage of the general undercurrent of discontent, and a few preachers who were beating the drum for the social causes – always a popular issue in my home state.

But the day’s highlights were provided by a series of skits presented by a group of high school students from Tupelo.   The skits all had a patriotic, “God and Country” theme, and were well-received by the crowd.

Frankly, I’m not surprised by that – the kids being from Tupelo, I mean.  Tupelo’s schools could serve as an example for school districts across the state.  Community support, parental involvement, and high expectations are the hallmarks of this fine school system.

But I digress.

Here are a few of the early photos from the Tea Party.  Seedubya says, “more to come.”

“Hi Nuke.  Howya doin’?”

“Oh, pretty good.  How ’bout you, Doc?”

“Good.  Look, I need you to drop by my office.  Are you in town today?”

“Yeah, I can be there in 30 minutes.”

“Great.  Come on by.”

I knew it wasn’t going to be good news.

They don’t call and tell you to come right over just to tell you good news, unless you’re at a much higher pay grade than I am.

Looks like ol’ Nuke has some big-time health issues.  I’ll be going under the knife, so to speak, and then, God only knows.  As a believer, I’m mighty glad about that last part.

At best, these are life-changing  events.  And, if I’m not so fortunate, well, if it’s my time, then so be it.

The running joke with Mrs. Nuke, is that I’m an “idea man,”  basically meaning that I’ve got bunches of unfinished projects around the Hacienda Del Nuko. And, that’s the tough part:  I just hate leaving so much unfinished business, know what I mean?  There are grandkids to play with, gardens to plant, plans to make, trips to take, love to share, and so much to discover.

So much unfinished business.

Dang.

Later y’all.
