CBS Lowballs Beck Crowd Estimate

You just knew this was going to happen …

“An estimated 87,000 people attended a rally organized by talk-radio host and Fox News commentator Glenn Beck Saturday in Washington, according to a crowd estimate commissioned by CBS News.”  LINK

More: Nice catch from William Jacobson

And more: The day after wrap-up from Doug Powers …(at MM)

  1. Even the Park Service estimates the crowd at 300,000. Any wonder why the msm is dying?

  2. Easily 500,000+.
As if anything from SeeBS is heard or cared about.

  3. I love it when the MSM keeps in committing slow suicide by lying all the time.

  4. Yes, because you ALL are scientific analysts which estimate crowd populations for a living. Oh, wait….

Maybe read the whole article, and consider the organizations which trust this company, like the Department of Homeland Security, or the U.S. Border Patrol, before refuting it with your expert analyses (that’s plural for analysis). Also, here’s a good list:

This is the same organization which gave the “lowball” estimate for President Obama’s inauguration rally, so they obviously are sooooo biased for the left, right?

So, if you can, provide your own independent, objective, scientific sources which estimate the crowd at 3, 5 or even 10 times that number. Go ahead, I dare you.

    • I don’t believe the SeeBS source nor do I believe the U.N.’s IPCC report on GoreBull Warming, so alleged “independent/scientific” sources are always being questioned based on common sense.
Bullshit has been called on this estimate and rightly so.
I’ve been to events that had over 100,000 people and the Restoring Honor rally dwarfs that number. Beck hired a professional organization to give an estimate and the results should be published soon.
The only way the group hired by SeeBS could have been accurate with their count was if they stopped counting by 7:30a.m. that morning.

  5. Of course you don’t. They are the most credible crowd counting source out there, and you don’t believe them, because they refute your point. You don’t believe them, even though companies like AT&T, National Geographic, Boeing, Microsoft, FOX Architects, and many many many many others (as listed on the link I provided, but here it is again in case you missed it the first time around: ) trust their abilities.

And the photos are taken right around noon. You can tell by the shadows 😉 This is because that was the expected peak attendance at the rally. Oh! they also counted the people that came and left. These are things which the article explains. Actually, the professor methodologist himself explains that, even if you don’t believe CBS’s article.

Again, you have been to rallies before, with more than 100,000 people? And you counted these people? You have overhead photos with a grid overlay and an algorithm to determine the average density of people per square unit? From a balloon with such a scientifically proven method of estimation? Well? Do you? Also, if you look at the photos, the vast majority of what takes up space on the grass are naught but chairs and umbrellas.

To give you some perspective, Michigan Stadium holds a little over 100,000 spectators, so search google images, and take a look at that stadium. It is massive, and it “only” holds 100,000, so it doesn’t seem unreasonable to me, and my common sense. 100,000 is no small number. If you take a look at images from Dr. King’s original speech (the “I have a dream…” speech) at the Washington Monument/Lincoln Memorial, and bear in mind that the attendance there was around 250,000 you will clearly see that ‘s number is a very reasonable estimation. The people at Dr. King’s speech were packed shoulder to shoulder alllllllll the way back along the reflecting pool. There was ample breathing room at Mr. Beck’s rally. Enough room for chairs and umbrellas, even.

Anyways, I’m sure Faux News will report the number as in the millions, like they did with the doctored photos of the “Million” Man March.

And I’ll be anxiously awaiting the number from Mr. Beck’s own organization.

    • No, this bullshit estimate for SeeBS doesn’t refute my point.
To any reasonable person, that has been around large crowds, and in my case actually involved in crowd control, this mass of people is well over 500,000.
Trying the comparison with MLK’s march is silly, there were buildings near the mall that no longer exist. The Beck crowd eclipsed King’s by 100’s of thousands.
I saw a graphic with two UofM stadiums overlapping along the reflection pool, and end to end the two stadium overlays didn’t cover the distance entirely.
You belief the bullshit this silly crowd estimate publishes, fine, it obviously suits your libturd mind.

  6. Heh. That’s the problem with libturds. They can’t think for themselves and look at the evidence before them.
