Four Days Until NCAA Football

Finally, the wait is nearly over.

While all thoughts turn to a National Championship for our favorite teams, we need a final look back at how the last season ended for the Texas wHorns and what it might mean for them moving forward.

A further look back at the last time Texas had a share of the conference championship, their * season, which may be their impetus for wanting to blow-up the current conference.

  1. OH, and Hitler really, REALLY doesn’t like State’s Cowbells.

  2. It has been a looooong off-season…. I be ready for some football. On another note, Colonel Reb is still crying…

    • Oy-yoy-yoy-yoy…that’s funny.
I miss the Ol’Colonel. Gone to another era when Western Culture was strong and PC was still another faculty lounge dream.

  3. Dawgs play tonight, nuke.
Hope you have your cow bell oiled up.

    • I’ll be ready. Going to have to listen on the radio though. Cable One in Mccomb doesn’t carry SportsSouth….. bastids

      • Dang!
Can’t believe they don’t carry Fox Sports.
I’ll have the laptop on in front of the new plasma and will gladly relay what I see upon request.

  4. Double dang!
I’m not getting it either, they are showing the schtoopid Rangers baseball game.

    • They carry 3 fox sports channels, but not the one called SportsSouth.

      Got it on the radio

      17 – 0 Dogs!

      • Make that 24 – 0!

      • Good job, dawgs!
Memphis has a history of sneaking up on higher ranked teams in the season opener.

      • Yep. And MSU has a history of not taking care of business when they are the solid favorite.

        It’s 31-7 now.

      • Alrighty, then.
Got a win under the belt, got the preseason jitters taken care of and got some reps for the younger starters and backups.
It gets much tougher here on out.
It’s a shame there will be 3 games on Saturday night that I would like to see. OU will be the one I watch, with LSU and the Boise/UGA game the one’s I’ll check during timeouts.

  5. 45 -14 now.

Satiddy nite is going to feel like the season has really started!

  6. The LONG wait is over, party time!!!

Awesome, go dawgs. I was working so couldn’t watch either game but got to hear the Wisconsin Badgers rip some tail on my sirius radio.

  7. OU debating conference options

University of Oklahoma president David Boren says multiple conferences have shown interest in the Sooners recently and he expects to decide whether to leave the Big 12 or not within the next three weeks.

Boren said Friday that Oklahoma is seeking stability in its conference relationship with “partners that are both outstanding athletically and academically as well because a conference that’s strong is not only stable but it’s one in which there are multiple relationships, along with sports, between the university members.”

Things are moving quickly. Looks like the B-XXII’s days are surely numbered

    • Yup.
It all could have been prevented if they had amputated the diseased limb, tu.
What I’m concerned with is that tu might go to the Pac12 if OU does…blecch…that doesn’t cure the illness, it only causes it to spread.
There was also an emergency conference call between Big ?? presidents with the exceptions of OU, TAMU and tu, after Dr. Boren’s announcement. If they had made that conference call months ago after the LHN was announced and excluded tu only, the conference could have survived and been healthy.
One thing I am 98% certain of is OU won’t be joining the SEC. They have a very dim view of the widespread recruiting violations there.

      • I have a feeling they will follow Neb to the big 10

      • Possible, but academics could be the problem.
Nebraska had been an AAU school just prior to the switch, while all BIG schools are AAU affiliated, they get massive amounts of research grant dollars and share with conference members. OU isn’t an AAU school and never has been, though they are Tier One. The BIG would have to ignore their academic standing, somewhat, to allow OU. OSU would not be allowed to tag along due to even lower academic standards, and there are many in that state’s body politic that would not like to see the two schools separate. Wherever OU goes, I hope it isn’t in the same conference with tu.

  8. It would be nice to have OU join the Big Ten though I feel they are looking west to the Pac. Hopefully tu can’t find a conference that wants’em.

    • We should know shortly. OU would love to be back with Nebraska again.
The way tu behaves, they ought to just be honest about their arrogance and go independent.
