Independence Day 2013


When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.  full text

in-god-we-trustSometimes I wonder if we have reached a similar tipping point with regards to our own federal government.  I also wonder where we would find such men as the founders of this republic, to lead, to communicate, and to educate the many who could not care less.

Our great Republic is in trouble.  Are there enough good men left who will stand?  We know that the Power to change the country does not reside in Washington, D.C., but in the same Creator who has endowed each of us with those certain inalienable rights, so eloquently expressed 237 years ago this day.  Stated with equal certainty is the official motto of the country, “In God We Trust.”

In these words I find comfort.  In God, I have hope.

To my friends and to the readers of this blog, have a happy and safe Independence Day.

    There are still many moral and righteous men/women in this nation, the very people that our constitutional republic was designed for. That is the main reason I still have hope and also the main reason the forces of evil and sloth haven’t been destroyed by those same men. Will their eternal souls be sacrificed for fighting those wretched forces? The risk is of great concern.
    I trust in God, he is in control. In the religious context hope means “a strong and confidant expectation,” and I too have ‘hope’ in God’s plan.

    Romans 5:2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.

    Romans 15:13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

    These matters are with us hour by hour. For now, we need to honor the righteous men who gave us such a wonderful nation and system of self governance. The battle and desire to preserve it continues unabated.
