Venezuela burns: Nobody Cares

by Francisco Toro, Caracas Chronicles

The game changed in Venezuela last night. What had been a slow-motion unravelling that had stretched out over many years went kinetic all of a sudden.

What we have this morning is no longer the Venezuela story you thought you understood.

Throughout last night, panicked people told their stories of state-sponsored paramilitaries on motorcycles roaming middle class neighborhoods, shooting at people and  storming into apartment buildings, shooting at anyone who seemed like he might be protesting.

venezuela burns

People continue to be arrested merely for protesting, and a long established local Human Rights NGO makes an urgent plea for an investigation into widespread reports of torture of detainees. There are now dozens of serious human right abuses: National Guardsmen shooting tear gas canisters directly into residential buildings. We have videos of soldiers shooting civilians on the street.

And that’s just what came out in real time, over Twitter and YouTube, before any real investigation is carried out. Online media is next, a city of 645,000 inhabitants has been taken off the internet amid mounting repression, and this blog itself has been the object of a Facebook “block” campaign.

What we saw were not “street clashes”, what we saw is a state-hatched offensive to suppress and terrorize its opponents.

Here at Caracas Chronicles we’re doing what it can to document the crisis, but there’s only so much one tiny, zero-budget blog can do.

After the major crackdown on the streets of large (and small) Venezuelan cities last night, I expected some kind of response in the major international news outlets this morning. I understand that with an even bigger and more photogenic freakout ongoing in an even more strategically important country, we weren’t going to be front-page-above-the-fold, but I’m staggered this morning to wake up, scan the press and find…

Nothing.

If ever a case were to be made for the 2nd Amendment, it is being made right now in the streets of Venezuela.  Soldiers shooting civilians in their homes, on the streets, in open view of the public:  somehow, I believe they would not be doing so if the Venezuelans had the ability to offer armed resistance.

Socialism: 100 years of failure means nothing.

Wake up, America.

Let’s get serious about guns for a moment

If a picture speaks a thousand words, then this one says it all.

You just might be a “right wing extremist” Part 2

dhs_rightwing_extremistLast year, with a nod and a wink to Jeff Foxworthy, we compiled a list of characteristics of right wing extremists, as viewed by the skewed lens of the Obama regime.

The point of the post, as with most satire, was to expose the absurdity of the leftists in charge by using absurdity.   Who knew that these tongue-in-cheek references would become reality?  Still, we’re dealing with the Obamas.  And, what better way to transform a nation than by criminalizing the political opposition?

The Conservative Treehouse has the list of 72 types of Americans that the regime considers to be terrorists. And, just for the record, el nuko scored a positive hit on 22 of 72.  So, hands up, don’t shoot. IKR.

BATFE To Ban Common AR-15 Ammo

I’m copying/pasting this entire piece from the NRA ILA:

Gun Control isn’t about guns.  It’s about control!

In a move clearly intended by the Obama Administration to suppress the acquisition, ownership and use of AR-15s and other .223 caliber general purpose rifles, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives unexpectedly announced today that it intends to ban commonplace M855 ball ammunition as “armor piercing ammunition.” The decision continues Obama’s use of his executive authority to impose gun control restrictions and bypass Congress.

It isn’t even the third week of February, and the BATFE has already taken three major executive actions on gun control. First, it was a major change to what activities constitute regulated “manufacturing” of firearms. Next, BATFE reversed a less than year old position on firing a shouldered “pistol.” Now, BATFE has released a “Framework for Determining Whether Certain Projectiles are ‘Primarily Intended for Sporting Purposes’ Within the Meaning of 18 U.S.C. 921(a)(17)(c)”, which would eliminate M855’s exemption to the armor piercing ammunition prohibition and make future exemptions nearly impossible.

gun-controlBy way of background, federal law imposed in 1986 prohibits the manufacture, importation, and sale by licensed manufacturers or importers, but not possession, of “a projectile or projectile core which may be used in a handgun and which is constructed entirely . . . from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium copper, or depleted uranium.” Because there are handguns capable of firing M855, it “may be used in a handgun.” It does not, however, have a core made of the metals listed in the law; rather, it has a traditional lead core with a steel tip, and therefore should never have been considered “armor piercing.” Nonetheless, BATFE previously declared M855 to be “armor piercing ammunition,” but granted it an exemption as a projectile “primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes.”

Now, however, BATFE says that it will henceforth grant the “sporting purposes” exception to only two categories of projectiles:

Category I: .22 Caliber Projectiles

A .22 caliber projectile that otherwise would be classified as armor piercing ammunition under 18 U.S.C. 921(a)(17)(B) will be considered to be “primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes” under section 921(a)(17)(C) if the projectile weighs 40 grains or less AND is loaded into a rimfire cartridge.

Category II: All Other Caliber Projectiles

Except as provided in Category I (.22 caliber rimfire), projectiles that otherwise would be classified as armor piercing ammunition will be presumed to be “primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes” under section 921(a)(17)(C) if the projectile is loaded into a cartridge for which the only handgun that is readily available in the ordinary channels of commercial trade is a single shot handgun. ATF nevertheless retains the discretion to deny any application for a “sporting purposes” exemption if substantial evidence exists that the ammunition is not primarily intended for such purposes.

BATFE is accepting comments until March 16, 2015 on this indefensible attempt to disrupt ammunition for the most popular rifle in America. Check back early next week for a more in-depth analysis of this “framework” and details on how you can submit comments.

How to comment – from the BATFE

ATF will carefully consider all comments, as appropriate, received on or before March 16, 2015, and will give comments received after that date the same consideration if it is practical to do so, but assurance of consideration cannot be given except as to comments received on or before March 16, 2015. ATF will not acknowledge receipt of comments. Submit comments in any of three ways (but do not submit the same comments multiple times or by more than one method):

Who are you gonna believe, Obama or Osama?

There are only three choices in Islam: [1] either willing submission [conversion]; or [2] payment of the jizya, through physical, though not spiritual, submission to the authority of Islam; or [3] the sword, for it is not right to let him live.

Call me an #AngryClinger

mo-1

You can call me an angry white man, clinging to my guns and religion.  I actually like this description.  It fits.  I’m an #AngryClinger.

I’m angry that death cult terrorists continue to kill and maim in the name of their religion and in the name of their god.

I’m mad that some Western theologists want to equate the god of the cultists with The LORD God Almighty.  It offends me.

By now, you’ve read about the latest mass murder in the name of the prophet of the death cult.  As more is learned, we will hear the same Western apologists making the same ridiculous statements that these murders have nothing to do with islam; that the murdered shouldn’t have offended the murderers; that a backlash against innocent moslems will occur by #angryclingers (who are basically islamophobes anyway); that conservative Christians are just as evil because they oppose special rights for homosexuals; and of course, that Israel is somehow to blame.

I have the solution to death cult terrorism, and it is very simple.  That doesn’t mean that it is in any way easy.  I’ll detail the solution in a future post, and when you read it, you’ll be amazed that no one thought of it before.  But, that’s for later.

Today’s exercise in evil by the death cult is only the most recent event that has made me angry.  I’m mad about several things:

  1. I’m mad that John Boehner is still Speaker of the House, and Congress is still for sale:  Business As Usual.
  2. I’m mad that some of the same people who said they would vote to replace Boehner, betrayed their supporters.
  3. I’m mad that Al Sharpton still owes an unpaid tax debt of over 4 million dollars, and the IRS has not moved to seize his assets or levy his income.
  4. I’m mad that nothing has been done about the politicization of the IRS, the EPA, the DOJ, BLM, ATF, VA, and others that have betrayed the public trust, committed acts of deception, perjury, obfuscation, concealment, political blackmail, to name a few, all with the knowledge and approval of the motherfucker in the White House.
  5. I’m mad that the 4th Estate has devolved into a 5th Column.
  6. I’m mad that the ones who see these things happening and want to hold the line against them are demonized and marginalized by this very same 5th Column.
  7. I’m mad that our government is over $18 Trillion in debt, with no end in sight, and the only way we are still managing to keep the lights on is because the Federal Reserve continues to monetize the debt through Quantitative Easing I, II, III, and soon, QE-IV.
  8. I’m mad that the above alphabet agencies continue to ignore lawful Constitutional oversight by the Congress, which of course is ignored by the 5th Column, and I’m mad that the Congress hasn’t raised hell about it.
  9. I’m mad that the racial divisions in our country have been stirred to the boiling point by professional agitators, race mongers, communists, and moslems, who have resorted to arson, assault, and assassination of police officers to achieve their goal of “fundamentally changing” our country.
  10. I’m mad that the 2 frontrunners for the 2016 Presidential election are named Bush and Clinton.

So, I’m an #AngryClinger, and I’m up to here. Tonight, I will say this prayer for serenity.

God, grant me the Serenity

To accept the things I cannot change,

The courage to change the things I can,

And the wisdom to know the difference.

New NRA ad campaign strikes the RIGHT chords

The new ad campaign launched by the NRA is different than anything I’ve ever seen.  I was watching the news the other day and saw an ad, it stopped me in my tracks.  The words spoken by the narrator could have been my own.

It was almost like the first time I heard Rush Limbaugh on the radio, and I was pleasantly surprised that someone could so eloquently express the same thoughts that had been swirling in my mind for so long.

If you haven’t seen them yet, I hope you will.  Here are the two that I have seen so far:

Bulletin: Imminent Terrorist Attack on Southwest Border

Islamic terrorist groups are operating in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juarez and planning to attack the United States with car bombs or other vehicle born improvised explosive devices (VBIED). High-level federal law enforcement, intelligence and other sources have confirmed to Judicial Watch that a warning bulletin for an imminent terrorist attack on the border has been issued.  Agents across a number of Homeland Security, Justice and Defense agencies have all been placed on alert and instructed to aggressively work all possible leads and sources concerning this imminent terrorist threat.

plato-o-plomoSpecifically, Judicial Watch sources reveal that the militant group Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) is confirmed to now be operating in Juarez, a famously crime-infested narcotics hotbed situated across from El Paso, Texas. Violent crimes are so rampant in Juarez that the U.S. State Department has issued a number of travel warnings for anyone planning to go there. The last one was issued just a few days ago.

Intelligence officials have picked up radio talk and chatter indicating that the terrorist groups are going to “carry out an attack on the border,” according to one JW source.  “It’s coming very soon,” according to this high-level source, who clearly identified the groups planning the plots as “ISIS and Al Qaeda.” An attack is so imminent that the commanding general at Ft. Bliss, the U.S. Army post in El Paso, is being briefed, another source confirms. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not respond to multiple inquiries from Judicial Watch, both telephonic and in writing, about this information.   JudicialWatch.org

The time to come up with an effective strategy for dealing with these cretins is long overdue, but our current President of the United States is much too busy fundraising and playing racially divisive political games to bother.

When this attack occurs, the S.O.P. reaction of the Administration will be to first feign surprise.  Then, blame it on someone else, probably another intelligence failure.  We can be sure that no one at the White House will know anything about it until they see it on the Media.

I have developed a throbbing case of Obama fatigue.  To say his act is old is understated.

But wait!  There’s more!

ISIS document on SW border trhreat breitbartWriting at Slate, Joshua Keating offers the typical liberal reaction:   it’s a “baseless claim”.  In fact, most of those entering illegally from Afghanistan or Syria are probably fleeing terrorism.  ISYN

Breitbart verifies ISIS threat with leaked document. (how’s that for “baseless”, Joshua?)

Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX) was asked if there is any current interaction between ISIS and Mexican drug cartels he said “yes” and added they are “talking to each other.”  (Joshua characterizes this assertion as “ridiculous”).

Who cares about all this terrorism business anyway, when the real problem is …(wait for it) …global warming.

Keeping Score: Ramadan 2014

Hat-tip to: TROPJihad Watch,  and commenter freespeech at Jihad Watch.

2014-RamadanBombathonMuslims kill as many or more people every 2.4 months than the KKK killed in it’s entire history. (The Klan killed 3,446 people, Muslims average 2 per hour, 24/7/365 long term, 3.37 per hour, 24/7, during Ramadan translates to every 1.42 months).

Muslims kill more people every 8 hours than were killed during the Salem “witch” hunts. Based on the Ramadan average, every 4.45 hours.

Muslims kill more people every 3.6 days than Timothy McVeigh killed in the Oklahoma City Bombing, based on long term average. Every 2.8 days based on the Ramadan average.

Stats really piss liberals and Muslims off. Use them whenever possible.

The Caliphate is inevitable?

He is on the Department of Homeland Security’s Advisory Council. He is also a long-time official in the Texas Republican Party and was a delegate for Republican presidential nominee John McCain in 2008.

Who is this Texas Republican? Any guesses from our Texas readers? I won’t keep you in suspense. His name is Mohamed Elibiary.

This senior DHS Advisor actually tweeted on June 13 that a “Caliphate” is inevitable and compared it to the EU.

The Caliphate is Inevitable

The Caliphate is Inevitable

Elibiary said America’s choice is whether to support it or not. He implied that he wants the U.S. to support a future caliphate, framing it as a Muslim version of the European Union.

Online supporters of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a terrorist group that fights to reestablish the caliphate with Baghdad as its capital, distributed and praised Elibiary’s tweet.

Who the Caliph might turn out to be is not known. But, what is not a mystery are the duties of the Caliph:

O9.8: “The caliph makes war upon Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians…until they become Muslim or else pay the non-Muslim poll tax.”

O9.9: “The caliph fights all other peoples until they become Muslim.” This is referring to those who are not Jewish, Christian or Zoroastrian. The text acknowledges that some scholars believe it is permissible to allow any kind of non-Muslims to live under sharia except those that leave Islam or are Arab “idol worshippers.” The only choice for those are to convert or die.

P40.1-2: This section cites a hadith that states that whoever disobeys the “leader,” disobeys Allah. The text states that the “leader” is the caliph or his authorized representative.

You know, and I know that this country is not prepared for what the world will look like with the return of these barbarians. And yet, they are still welcomed into the country. Even peaceful moslems would be considered heretical, subject to a standing death sentence for not obeying the caliph. It wouldn’t take much for the current random instances of moslem violence in this country to become something entirely different, much more violent, and with much greater frequency. And, in the EU which Elibiary compares the modern day Caliphate to, there would be blood in the streets, sooner rather than later.

Rinos caught raising funds from democrat machine again

A guest post from Joe for America

Establishment incumbents are once again teaming up with liberals to destroy conservatives and they do not care who they get in bed with – even if it the most vile, far-left, attack dogs from the Clinton Machine.

As long as the money is green and there is Tea Party or conservative support trying to oust squishy, liberal-leaning RINO’s – the GOP will accept funds from Satan himself it seems:john-podesta

A group headed by John Podesta is hosting a fundraiser in Washington, D.C. for Thad Cochran, a Republican incumbent being challenged by a Tea Party conservative. Who is John Podesta? I’ll give you an idea:

He sat on ACORN’s Advisory Council, was hired by President Obama to push climate change, Executive Actions and the late Andrew Brietbart called him; “the father of the “institutional left.”

Mississippi’s Republican establishment has rallied around Cochran to fend off state Sen. Chris McDaniel (R). In Senator McDaniel’s corner is the Mississippi tea party, with affiliated groups around the state that bring energy to the state senator’s ground game.

… So of course, conservatives must be destroyed – even if it means selling your soul:

MS Conservative Daily

According to Politico, a group headed by John Podesta is hosting a fundraiser in Washington, D.C. for Thad Cochran:

“PODESTA RAISES FOR COCHRAN: Downtowners are hosting a breakfast fundraiser for Sen.Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) at the offices of the Podesta Group. The March 4 fundraiser will cost $2,000 for PACs and $1,000 for individuals.”

Podesta served as White House Chief of Staff under Bill Clinton, as well as advisors to some of the biggest Democrats on the Hill. He founded and chaired a progressive think tank, Center for American Progress, and the Podesta Group, a lobbying firm for liberals and big business. He is now serving as a senior counselor to President Obama.

Senator Chris McDaniel has called on Cochran to explain this partnership. This is further proof of Democrats’ affinity for Thad Cochran
UPDATE: Since this story broke, Politico has cut this particular entry from its story. I guess Cochran’s people fear the outcome when the people of Mississippi find out.

chris-mcdanielThis is the kind of guy our brave GOP establishment is in business with – along with the Mainstreet Republican Partnership PAC, funded by left-wing labor unions and George Soros connected money.

Thousands Rally in Connecticut for Gun-owners Rights

“A year and a day after Democratic Gov. Gov. Dannel P. Observers said close to 5000 attended the Hartford rally which was attended by all three Republican gubernatorial candidates.  The Connecticut Citizens Defense League organized the event, and is working to repeal the law.

I heard about it over at Grouchy, and something interesting, was that it was live-streamed.  Excellent.  Now that may not seem like a big deal to the tech savvy, but for me, seeing the good guys embrace social media gives me a warm feeling inside.  We’ve been so behind the curve in this area.

Not all present were for gun-owners rights, however.  Noted TV journo-list Rachel Maddow and the star of the Obamacare ads, Pajama boy were observed at the rally.

Barack Obama’s SOTU Reality TV Show

A guest post by Rodney Lee Conover

Tuesday night millions of Americans witnessed an unprecedented surge in the proliferation of Reality Television. For the first time in history, the exact same Reality TV show was broadcast on every network – ABC, NBC, CBS & FOX – at the same exact time. In addition, it was also featured on CNN, MSNBC, FOX News and on any number of other cable outlets!

The name of this show was; “President Barack Obama’s State of the Union Address.”

Hi. I’m Rodney Lee Conover and for those of you who missed it – here’s my unabashed review.

Full Disclosure: I’m running for Congress in California’s 8th District.

I watched President Obama deliver the annual State of the Union address and as we’ve come to expect, the President, instead of a solemn opportunity to take a measure of where we are as a nation and as a people, delivered another made-for-TV entertainment event. An Executive Branch Reality Show and like most Reality television – completely contrived..

Obama_speech_2

The President promised yet again to pivot to the economy, put our people back to work – vowing to rebuild the trust of the People in the government’s ability to provide solutions for all. But this is empty regardless of how many times or how eloquently he repeats them. Anyone with a modicum of awareness of real Reality just shakes their head while he’s explaining how America is now “Energy Independent” thanks to him..

.. Of course that’s because no one has to drive to work anymore – but he didn’t mention holding up the Keystone Pipeline. Must have slipped his mind.

The President congratulated the Congress for passing a budget: The first in 4 years. It was a budget he described as undoing some of last year’s severe sequester cuts (his idea) to education. But he failed to mention the disgraceful cuts to veterans benefits included in the Ryan / Murray budget disaster.

Speaking of which – John McCain has said that Republicans who opposed the budget deal lacked “intellectual integrity.” In fact, my opponent voted for that budget deal (which included those military pension cuts). I would have been opposed to it. In fact, I’ll make a promise to you right now. I will never vote to balance spending on the backs of our military.   Never.

Bruce Cotton and Ann-Marie of Lone Pine, Ca. Vietnam veteran and hero of mine.

Bruce Cotton and Ann-Marie of Lone Pine, Ca. Vietnam veteran and hero of mine.

Our veterans have earned not only their pension benefits, but also deserve the very best medical care possible. Further, they should be able to go to VA Clinics and Hospitals and speak freely about their needs without having to worry that some slip of the tongue will cause them to be denied any liberties or be deprived of their 2nd Amendment rights.

The backlog of veterans waiting to be treated is inexcusable, and deserves the attention of our political leaders who pay lip service one moment, then cut retirement benefits the next.

There are solutions to the problems our veterans face with getting proper medical care. Those solutions are not found in the single-payer, single-provider system model that the President and the Democrats intend to bring to the rest of the country with Obamacare.

I believe that citizens should be able to choose their own healthcare, not the government. When the President promised us that if we liked our healthcare we could keep it, he knew that was not the case. Like millions of Californians, last October, I got a letter from my insurance company canceling my coverage, even though I liked it and wanted to keep it. The replacement coverage is more expensive, has a higher deductible and higher out of pocket costs. I also like my doctor of nine years, but he’s not compliant with the Affordable Care Act.

obamacareSo, Obamacare costs more and covers less. And it certainly hasn’t covered the 40 million uninsured that the President promised. We conservatives saw this coming, and fought a long hard fight to keep it from becoming law. But, elections have consequences, and without one single Republican vote, Obamacare became law.

The final chance that we had to stop this train wreck happened last Fall when House Conservatives led a charge to defund Obamacare. In the end, establishment Republicans including my opponent voted to fully fund Obamacare and allow it to go forward.

The President had very little to say about this signature achievement, and understandably so. A botched roll-out effort, a failed website, billions of dollars wasted, and still millions of Americans without coverage, or unsure if they even have coverage, gives little room for Mr. Obama to boast of the program’s success.

It’s harder to understand why Establishment Republicans caved. The House controls the pursestrings and originates all spending bills. The Republicans own the majority in the House. Why would they give in? The framers of the Constitution gave the House under Article One the power and the duty to stop onerous legislation which was passed over the will of the people.

Establishment Republicans don’t like change and they feel very threatened by anyone who is new to The Club. Just look at the way they have sabotaged Ted Cruz, and ridiculed Rand Paul. These are the same Establishment Republicans who vehemently opposed Ronald Reagan in 1980, but who had done a complete turnaround by 1984.

fairtaxThe President may find an ally in these Establishment Republicans on issues like immigration reform, tax reform, and increased use of Executive Orders. I want to abolish the IRS – the most intrusive, coercive, and corrosive Federal agency ever. I would replace the tax code with The Fair Tax. Every American will become a voluntary taxpayer paying taxes when they choose and as much as they choose, by how they choose to spend their money. What could be more conservative than that?

I will not vote for a pathway to citizenship for anyone in the country illegally as long as our borders are not secure, and there are millions and millions of American citizens who can’t find work, and millions more who have simply given up trying to find a job.

And, I will continue to work to repeal and replace Obamacare with a system that champions firstclass medical care and freemarket principles that allows people to choose their doctors, choose their coverage, and make informed choices on private, competitive health insurance coverage.

rodneyleeconover  I’m Rodney Lee Conover. May God Bless you, and May God Bless the Great California Republic.

I need your help and support.   I’ll do all the work – it’s a fair deal: Take it.

Sooner puts Baltimore Sun to shame

from The Truth About Guns

Sky Woodward, an OU grad, takes the Baltimore Sun to task for their anti-2nd Amendment screed, published last week as an editorial.  Here is Ms Woodward’s letter; savor every word, for it is good!

After reading “Badly targeted gun gripes,” the editorial published in the Sept. 10 edition of The Baltimore Sun, any reasonably objective person would be left asking the following question: Is this an editorial from the editorial board of The Sun? It appears to be. It purports to be. But is it, really? If it is, then The Sun ought to reconsider the distinction between “editorial” and “polemic” (to say nothing of the distinction between “editorial” and “rant”). You should be embarrassed for publishing something this unprofessional. Glib, smug, sanctimonious and unsupported commentary like this is probably the single biggest factor in the decline of the prestige and relevance of the print press in general and The Sun in particular. As with any issue, there are always points to be made on both sides. The Sun simultaneously fails to make these points while reinforcing its reputation as a shrill mouthpiece for Maryland state government propaganda . . .

Sky-Woodward
A point-by-point refutation of your editorial would be an exercise in futility, given the absurdity and manifest condescension of many of your statements. You demonstrate a total absence of professionalism throughout the editorial, beginning with your very first sentence, characterizing the debate over Maryland’s undisputed delays in processing background checks for prospective purchasers as “crying.” You go from there to label Marylanders who want to exercise their constitutional right to purchase and possess firearms as paranoid in an obvious attempt to relegate gun owners and would-be purchasers to the fringe of society, even though the number of applications alone is clear evidence that such a characterization is as intellectually dishonest as it is transparently dismissive.

Finally, you say that average gun owners “probably aren’t all that worked up by the backlog….” “Probably?” If the average gun owner or would-be gun owner is relying upon The Sun for information about the security breach inherent in the state’s decision to allow employees outside of the Maryland State Police to help process background checks, he or she would remain woefully uninformed and thus unlikely to have feelings, strong or otherwise. I read The Sun as a daily subscriber — print and electronic — yet the only news coverage of this issue was buried deep in an article Saturday evening covering “a small group” rallying in Baltimore to call on Congress to reduce gun violence.

Had The Sun actually investigated the story, it might have learned that the personal information of handgun applicants scattered around to various government agencies for input included their home addresses, drivers license numbers and Social Security numbers. Instead, the editorial board of The Sun feels so strongly about this issue that it pushes its opinion that gun owners would be paranoid to care about state functionaries tossing such deeply personal identifiers around like Frisbees rather than fairly cover that news event and let the public decide for themselves. Shameful.

If The Sun ever is willing to publish an editorial bereft of this unprofessional sarcasm that dealt with the actual issues at stake with respect to the backlog of unprocessed background checks, the Maryland State Police’s ineffectual efforts over the past few years to deal with that backlog, and what that portends for the looming October 1 implementation date of the Firearms Safety Act of 2013, perhaps then a dialogue might be fostered and your readers may be rewarded.

Instead, you have published a churlish screed totally devoid of journalistic integrity. The Sun should be held to a higher standard, and Maryland and its citizens deserve a better newspaper, or at least a better effort from the paper they have. You have the audacity to write about hidden agendas. To which one can only reply, really?

If you missed the news coverage we’re here to fill you in.

A neighborhood watch man, an adult carrying a concealed weapon, shot and killed an unarmed teenage boy and was just found not-guilty by a jury after two days of deliberations.

“I just want to say thank you to the people who believed in me, who stood by me,” [the shooter] said following the verdict. “I still have my regrets for the [young boy’s] family; it’s still an unfortunate situation for them. I am happy that at least this chapter is over.”

As deliberations dragged on over two days and the jury asked for testimony to be read back, [the shooter] admits he didn’t know how it would all turn out.

“I was nervous of course,” he said. “You never know what direction this whole thing is going to turn, so I have no idea. But it worked out and I feel that justice (was) served today.”

[The boy’s] family members say justice wasn’t served. They say [he] was murdered in cold blood, that he’d never been in trouble and [the shooter] acted as judge, jury and executioner.

“The message is that we can all go out and get guns and feel anybody that we feel is threatening us and lie about the fact,” said [the boy’s] father. “My son never threatened anybody. He was a gentle child, his nature was gentle, he was a good person and he was never, ever arrested for anything, and has never been in trouble. He was 16 years and four months old, and he was slaughtered.”

[The shooter] says he acted in self defense when he confronted [the boy]…

Perhaps the reason you missed the story is because here are pictures of the shooter and the victim…

Scott-RoderickDead-White-Kid

The one on the left, in the hoodie, is Roderick Scott, the shooter.  The one on the right is the dead kid, Christopher Cervini.

I’m shocked you missed President Obama’s statement when he found out about the shooting, “If the white half of me had a son he would have looked like Christopher Cervini.”

You might have even missed the uproar surrounding the Department of Justice having their Community Relations Services group in Rochester, NY organize demonstrations of white upstate New Yorkers demanding a special prosecutor be appointed to investigate this cold blooded murder of a gentle white boy by a black man wearing a hoodie.

Actually, I’m not shocked that you missed all that news since it wasn’t really news outside of Rochester, NY.  Here’s a summary of what happened.

Scott says he acted in self defense when he confronted Cervini and two others saying they were stealing from neighbors cars. He told them he had a gun and ordered them to freeze and wait for police.

Scott says he shot Cervini twice when the victim charged toward him yelling he was going to get Scott.

Based on what I’ve been able to find, the jury reached the correct verdict in Scott’s case just as they did in the Zimmerman trial.

I can understand how Christopher Cervini’s dad could say what he said just like I can understand how Trayvon Martin’s parents can say what they say.  It’s called “grief”.  It’s also called “denial”.

I also understand why we haven’t heard a word from President Obama, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the NAACP or anything about expanded investigations from the Department of Justice.

That is called “hypocrisy”.

The liberals have completely lost it where guns are concerned.

Pop-Tarts eaten to form the crude shape of  hand gun,  a “bubble gun” causing a student expulsion, the hand-drawing of  a  gun getting a student suspended and ordered to undergo psychological counseling, pretend gun fingers, anything at all to do with firearms is causing unreasonable fear and loathing from the left.

It’s nutty, and getting nuttier.

Anyway, I was picking up some groceries yesterday at the Piggly Wiggly, and I noticed some interesting toys in the dollar bin.  I thought I would pick some up for my grandsons before they are outlawed.  I had all of these toys as a boy and so did my sons. I hope my grandsons will enjoy them as much as I did.

And, on a another note, this is an open memo to Colt, Beretta, Magpul, and other firearms manufacturers that are being treated as  undesireables in their home states.  PLEASE consider moving your operations to southwest Mississippi.  We have an abundance of willing workers who would love an opportunity to work for your fine companies.  We’ve got great music, unbelievably good barbeque, plus, you won’t find a more gun-friendly state in these United States.  Also, the cost of living is resonable.  Land is cheap, water is plentiful, transportation is ready and available; and, the simple fact of the matter is this:

WE WANT YOU  HERE!

They don’t talk much about Joel Myrick

On October 1, 1997 at Pearl High School in Pearl, MS, 16-year-old Luke Woodham killed two students and injured seven others. Before the shooting at began, Woodham stabbed his mother to death in their home as she was about to begin her morning jog. The shootings shocked the country. It was said many times, if this can happen in Pearl, it can happen anywhere. Unfortunately, over the years, this statement has proven to be true.

The shootings at Pearl High School was the first of the modern-day rash of school shootings.

But it could have been much worse. But for the actions of vice-principal Joel Myrick, and the grace of God, it would have been.

The moment Joel Myrick heard shots, he ran to his pickup truck, removed his Colt .45 from its case, removed ammo from another case, loaded his gun and went looking for the killer. He could have confronted Woodham much sooner, but for the fact that Federal law prohibits anyone but a police officer from having a gun in or near a school. “I’ve always kept a gun in the truck just in case something like this ever happened,” said Myrick.

By the time he confronted the Woodham, 2 students were murdered, and 7 others were wounded. Woodham was trying to make his get-away to the nearby Middle School to continue the carnage. Woodham’s lever-action 30-30 is an effective deer rifle. But it takes time to chamber each round, point, aim and fire. Precious time. Time that Joel Myrick could have used to stop the shootings, but for gun laws.

Myrick foiled Woodham’s plan. He saw the killer fleeing and positioned himself. Woodham, seeing the gun pointed at his head, crashed the car. Myrick approached the killer and confronted him. “Here was this monster killing kids in my school, and the minute I put a gun to his head he was a kid again,” Myrick said.

Myrick’s actions stopped the shootings and saved lives. But the MSM doesn’t talk much about him, do they? President Obama says it’s time to have some gun control talk. Well, OK. Let’s just remember to talk about Joel Myrick.

Is it Mitt, or is it Hillary?

This is excerpted from an earlier post during the last Presidential primary season. I pulled the quotes from the excellent resource website, “On The Issues.”

See if you can identify the speaker as Mitt Romney, or Hillary Clinton:

1) “I am adamantly against illegal immigrants. People have got to stop employing illegal immigrants. you see loads of people waiting to get picked up to go do yard work & construction work & domestic work.”

2) “We have to have our citizens insured, and we’re not going to do that by tax exemptions, because the people that don’t have insurance aren’t paying taxes.”

3) “I hate the idea of in any way making it more difficult for kids, even those who are illegal aliens, to afford college.”

4) “We need to stand firm on behalf of sensible gun control legislation.”

5) “I also support an assault weapon ban.”

6) “The American people are tired of liars and people who pretend to be something they’re not.”

7) “I have never met anyone who is pro-abortion. Being pro-choice is not being pro-abortion.”

8] “We ought to be providing domestic partnership benefits for people who are in homosexual and lesbian relationships.”

The answers:

(1) Hillary, (2) Mitt, (3) Mitt, (4) Hillary, (5) Mitt, (6) Hillary, (7) Hillary, (8) Hillary

So, how did you do? I live in a deep red state so my protest vote against Mitt won’t mean very much.

But for you conservatives who think Mitt is the only way to “win” the country back, take a look at Mitt’s changing stands on the issues that matter. Look closely. No one has forced Mitt to change his mind on them. Just naked opportunism. You decide if it’s worth it to you to elect someone who is the Republican version of Hillary Clinton.

I know what my answer is.
