Execution Watch: John David Battaglia — Texas

By Mark R.  Execution Watch Editor

faith-liberty-battagliaFaith: a noun meaning (among others, the most common involving a belief in a deity or a religious teaching) “confidence or trust in a person or thing”.

Liberty: a noun meaning (among others, the most common involving a government) “freedom from captivity, confinement, or physical restraint”.

(The definitions below are taken from dictionary.reference.com)

Faith and Liberty are also the names of two young girls (ages 9 and 6, respectively), taken from this world much too soon, no thanks to Huntsville’s Pearl Harbor Day guest of (dis)honor, John David Battaglia.

Family members have killed other family members since Cain murdered Abel. And children have been the center of parental disputes since parents have had disputes. Sometimes, tragically, the two meet. But you will be hard-pressed to find a more cold-hearted family murder than that of the Battaglia children.

Battaglia had Faith and Liberty for a scheduled custody visit. But on May 2, 2001, Battaglia would place a call to his ex-wife (the girls’ mother). Battaglia would then proceed to destroy Faith’s faith and restrain Liberty’s liberty by murdering the girls while their mother overheard the murders on the phone. In Texas, killing children (especially your own) will usually get you a death sentence, and less than one year later (April 2002) that would be the punishment handed down by the jury.

All of Battaglia’s appeals have been DENIED. However, he has persistently claimed that he was suffering from bipolar disorder, and shouldn’t be executed for what he did.  He also claims that he can’t remember a thing about what happened. I have a close friend with bipolar who had issues with her ex-spouse over their daughter—but she NEVER considered killing her in revenge.

In addition to the tragic story, the bipolar angle, and that it was one of the more notorious murders to come out of Dallas, I’ve followed this case for another reason: while prisons tend to be overpopulated with school dropouts and menial laborers, Battaglia had enough education to obtain a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. As a Texas CPA licensee myself, Battaglia is a stain on our honorable profession. The wheels of justice may move slowly but the TSBPA doesn’t—roughly one year after his conviction his CPA license was REVOKED.

Sometime after 6PM Huntsville time Battaglia will pay for his crimes. AND—he won’t be able to have his CPA license reinstated.

Scheduled Execution:  December 7, 2016.

Execution Watch: Pablo Lucio Vasquez, Texas

submitted by Mark R. Execution Watch Editor

On April 6 we will have our second execution in a little over two weeks, and our fourth of the year, that of Pablo Vasquez.

In the Rio Grande Valley town of Donna, Texas (home of the Donna Redskins, the only Valley high school ever to win a state football championship, Class 2A in 1961) Vasquez and his then 15-year-old cousin, Andy Chapa, met 12-year-old Daniel Cardenas at a party.  They invited Cardenas to join them afterwards, then
killed him by blunt force trauma to the head (pipe and shovel) and buried his body.  Vasquez took a ring and necklace from Cardenas’ body.

From the above information (taken mostly from TDCJ’s website) this would appear to be little more a nondescript robbery-murder.  But as Paul Harvey would say, there is “the rest of the story.”  For Vasquez’ motive in killing Cardenas wasn’t robbery—it was his desire to drink Cardenas’ blood as part of an occult ritual ceremony.  (In addition to the blood, Cardenas’ body was found missing one arm and part of the other, as well as no skin on his back.)

Vasquez was found guilty and given the death penalty.  (Chapa, being under 18, was too young to be given the death penalty for his part in Cardenas’ murder.)  Along the way, a few minor issues were remanded to lower courts, but ultimately all appeals were DENIED and there do not appear to be any further appeals pending in this case.

Pablo Vasquez wanted to engage in occult practices.  Sometime after 6PM Huntsville time he may very well meet the Devil—and then it will be too late to engage in anything else.

Execution Watch: Adam Kelly Ward, Texas

by Mark R. Execution Watch Editor

March 22 brings us our second execution of the month, this time that of Adam Ward (no, not either of the actors in the old Batman series; that was Adam West and Burt Ward).  Commerce isn’t the place you would expect a capital murder to occur; usually the police only have to deal with out of control frat parties at Texas A&M—Commerce. Unfortunately, underneath the general calmness of daily life in a college town, the simmering of a pot about to blow was taking place.

The City of Commerce and the Ward family (Adam and his father Ralph) had been in a long-standing dispute over numerous code violations on the Ward property. The Wards claimed that the City was engaged in a conspiracy against them; the City countered that the property resembled something you would see on the TV series Hoarders.

pee wee walkerBut the feud between the parties would turn tragic shortly after 10 AM local time on June 13, 2005, when Code Enforcement Officer Michael “Pee Wee” Walker would go to the Ward property to take pictures of still more code violations. Walker would be met with multiple rounds of gunfire from Adam (before Ralph managed to get the gun away from Adam). In another tragic twist, the first responder at the scene was none other than Walker’s father Dick, who would watch his son die in his arms.

As Walker was a member of the Commerce Police Department, Ward would be charged with capital murder (murder of a peace officer and known to be such by the defendant). In Texas, that’s usually the fastest way to get a death sentence, and in June 2007 that would be the punishment handed down by the jury.

Ralph Ward would later enter into a settlement with Walker’s family, agreeing (without admitting fault) to pay the children $26,000 each plus the costs of Walker’s funeral and attorney’s fees. The City would later provide police protection to any city employee (even meter readers) going to the Ward property. (Walker’s father would later sue the City, on behalf of himself and the children, claiming that the City knew of the dangers but did nothing to protect Walker; I have no information on the outcome of that suit.)

All of Ward’s appeals have been DENIED; however, numerous appeals have been filed claiming he is mentally ill (bi-polar disorder) and therefore should not be executed. I know someone with bi-polar and she absolutely rejects any and all conspiracy theories. There are many sad stories in this case. Ralph Ward’s conspiracy-fueled rants led to him having to pay thousands of dollars to Officer Walker’s family—and he will have to see his son die before him. Dick Walker (who has managed to forgive Adam) had to see his own son die in his arms. Officer Walker’s children have grown up without their father. The City had to spend more taxpayer money to provide police protection for city employees who had to visit the Ward property—police who could have been working to prevent or solve other crimes.

And Adam Ward—only 22 when he fired the fatal shots—will die at 33, way before his time. But he could have chosen to reject the rantings of an unstable parent—he didn’t, though, and sometime after 6PM Huntsville time he will have to pay for his failure to choose wisely.

Execution Watch: Coy Wayne Wesbrook, Texas

by Mark R. Execution Watch Editor

It is said that March comes in like a lion.  This Wednesday it may be roaring in Huntsville with the execution of Coy Wesbrook (subject to a stay which may come, as explained below).

From Channelview (the place that gave us the sordid tale of the Pom Pom Mom) comes another tale right out of a novel from a sleazy bookstore.  The anti’s are arguing that Wesbrook isn’t all right in the head, and after reading this story it’s clear his elevator shaft may not have made it to the top floor, but there are other things to consider.

On November 13, 1997, Wesbrook goes over to the residence of Gloria Jean coons, his (second, as further discussed below) ex-wife, after she contacts him for an attempt at “marital reconciliation”.  When he gets over there, he finds three other men (Antonio Cruz, Anthony Ray Rogers, and Kelly Halzip) and either one (Diana Ruth Money) or two other females (depending on the source) at the house.  As none of the other parties identified themselves as clergy or otherwise there to assist in the
reconciliation, instead of figuring out that something is amiss and quickly departing, he hangs around and begins drinking with them.

Sometime during his visit Wesbrook discovers that his wife and two of the men weren’t around; he goes into a bedroom and finds them engaged in a threesome.  Wesbrook proceeds to do what any heartbroken man would do—he goes out to his truck, gets his hunting rifle, and kills her and the three other men (again, depending on the source, either Money was killed and the other not present when Wesbrook killed the others, Money was killed and the other survived, or the only woman present was Money).

There was plenty of evidence of future dangerousness:  in addition to the multiple murders Wesbrook 1) cut the phone lines of Coons, 2) attempted to burn down his residence after being evicted by his landlord (I own rental properties but never had any tenant this bad), 3) sought to have his FIRST ex-wife and her husband killed, and 4) sought to have three other people killed (which was brought out at trial by a jailhouse snitch).  The jury sentenced Wesbrook to death, and his initial round of appeals was  DENIED.

But during the punishment phase the State called Dr. George Denkowski as an expert witness on Wesbrook’s future dangerousness.  However, in April 2011 Denkowski entered into a settlement agreement with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, whereby he agreed to a reprimand AND further “agreed to not accept any engagement to perform forensic psychological services in the evaluation of subjects for mental retardation or intellectual disability in criminal proceedings”.

Wesbrook requested that the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, on its own motion, reopen the case.  TCCA did in April 2012 by remanding the case to the trial court “to allow it the opportunity to re-evaluate its initial findings, conclusions, and recommendation in light of the Denkowski Settlement Agreement”.  The trial court, in September 2014, recommended that relief be DENIED, and TCCA so agreed in January 2015.  (At this point there is nothing further in terms of appellate decisions; the Denkowski issue could end up putting this whole thing on hold.)

Wesbrook’s ex was clearly no saint.  And if he had only killed her and the other two men in the threesome you could have argued a crime of passion and probably shown mercy.  But there were two others there that weren’t doing it yet they died too.  And his other actions show criminal intent.

So this is another thug who is due his.

Execution Watch: Special Report

by Mark R. Execution Watch Editor

Execution Watch:  SPECIAL REPORT–Upcoming Texas Executions

justice-servedTDCJ has been fairly active so far in 2016 with three executions already carried out. And this year could be among the busiest in recent memory, with TEN more scheduled through July.

According to the TDCJ Death Row site, the following executions are scheduled (subject to successful last minute stays):

Date: March 2

Offender: Coy Wayne Wesbrook

Summary of Offense: Murdered Gloria Jean Coons (his ex-wife) and three other men (Antonio Cruz, Anthony Ray Rogers, and Kelly Hazlip).  TDCJ states a female at the residence was shot, C&CP Forum states that she also died (Diana Ruth Money).  In a tale only Channelview (home of the Pom Pom Mom) could provide, Wesbrook went over to his ex-wife’s residence for an attempted “marital reconciliation”, only to find three men and a female there.  He later found her in a threesome, so he did what any heartbroken man would do–go out to his truck, get his hunting rifle, and start shooting everyone.

Date: March 22

Offender: Adam Kelly Ward

Summary of Offense: Murdered Michael “Pee Wee” Walker, a Commerce Code Enforcement Officer, while Officer Walker was taking pictures of code violations outside Ward’s home.  The Wards (Adam and father Ralph) had been in a running feud with the City of Commerce over the condition of the Wards’ property–the Wards claiming the City was harassing them unfairly; the City claiming that the Wards’ property resembled something from the TV show Hoarders.  The City would later settle with Officer Walker’s father (a first responder who watch his son die in his arms) and children over complaints that Walker was sent into a dangerous situation without adequate backup.

Date: March 30

Offender: John David Battaglia

Summary of Offense: Murdered Faith and Liberty Battaglia (his daughters) over a custody dispute.  In one of the most sickening and heartbreaking stories in recent years, Battaglia gets the daughters for a custody visit, then calls their mother on the phone and proceeds to kill them while she overhears everything.  The Texas State Board of Public Accountancy has already revoked Battaglia’s CPA license (as a CPA myself this is a stain on our honorable profession).

Date: April 6

Offender: Pablo Lucio Vasquez

Summary of Offense: Along with co-defendant Andy Chapa, murdered Daniel Cardenas (age 12).  Although they stole some of Cardenas’ property, the main reason for his murder was so Vasquez could engage in the Satanic ritual of drinking Cardenas’ blood.

Date: April 27

Offender: Robert Lynn Pruett

Summary of Offense: While incarcerated at the McConnell Unit and serving a life sentence for murder with a deadly weapon, Pruett killed TDCJ Correctional Officer Daniel Nagle.

Date: May 11

Offender: Terry Darnell Edwards

Summary of Offense: Going back to a former restaurant where he was employed, Edwards killed the store manager (Tommy Walker) and another employee (Mickell Goodwin) during a robbery.

Date: June 2

Offender: Charles Don Flores

Summary of Offense: Along with co-defendant Richard Lynn Childs, Flores murdered Elizabeth Black (age 64) at her home in Farmers Branch during a robbery.  (They didn’t find any money.)

Date: June 21

Offender: Robert Leslie Roberson III

Summary of Offense: Struck and killed Nikki Curtis, his two-year-old daughter.  Not only is Roberson an example of the failed prison revolving door (during a 10-year stretch he would be out on parole three times, returned twice for violating parole–the first time with two additional charges, then incarcerated for this crime), evidence showed he molested his daughter as well.  (Had he been placed in general population he would likely be dead by now.)

Date: July 14

Offender: Perry Eugene Williams

Summary of Offense: Along with three others, Williams abducted and murdered Matthew Carter, a first-year student at Baylor College of Medicine, while he was returning a video to a Houston video store.

Date: July 27:

Offender: Rolando (a/k/a Roland) Ruiz, Jr.

Summary of Offense: Ruiz was the triggerman in a murder-for-hire plot where he killed Theresa Rodriguez so her husband could collect life insurance proceeds.  The tale would be otherwise non-descript (other than he also received a 2-year sentence for assaulting a Bexar County jailer as well), except that her husband (who received a life sentence) was Michael Rodriguez, later to become one of the notorious Texas 7 (and the first of them to be executed).

Execution Watch: James Garrett Freeman, Texas

A guest post by Mark R.

Tonight James Garrett Freeman is scheduled to be executed.
On March 17, 2007, Freeman was spotted by Justin Hurst, a Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Warden, illegally hunting from his truck. Instead of complying with Warden Hurst’s instructions, he led Hurst on a 90 minute car chase, reaching speeds of 130 mph at one point, before getting into a shootout with officers. Warden Hurst was fatally wounded in the shootout; he died on what would have been his 34th birthday.
In Texas, Game Wardens are fully-commissioned peace officers who can arrest for any violation of the law. As such, Freeman was charged with capital murder for knowingly killing a peace officer. He was convicted and sentenced to death; all the standard rounds of appeals (direct and habeas) were in all cases DENIED.
This case is somewhat unusual in that Freeman had no substantial prior criminal record (he was on probation for DUI at the time). As such, in addition to the usual “ineffective assistance of counsel” argument, the antis are arguing that his lack of a prior criminal record should have spared him from the chamber, and that suffered from “heavy alcohol use and severe depression” and wanted to die via “suicide by cop” (he almost did get his wish in the shootout). However, the prosecution argued that Freeman had an “uncontrollable and unpredictable temper” and was about to have his probation revoked for failure to comply (both could explain a high-speed chase and shootout). It should be noted that John Battaglia (the sorry CPA who killed his kids while on the phone with their mother) also had no prior criminal record; his is coming March 30.
It will be interesting to see what Freeman’s last words are once they are posted.

Execution Watch: Clifton Lamar Williams(Tx)*Updated*

williams*Update*  With little surprise, this one has been stayed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Thug: Clifton Lamar Williams(age 21 when murder was committed)
*Date of execution: 16 Jul 2015
*Date of crime: 9 Jul 2005
*Victim: Cecilia Schneider(age 93)
*Last words and Last meal TBA
I have been watching events leading to this execution and for many reasons I find it difficult to believe we are less than six hours from his date with the gurney.
The heinous crime this cretin is guilty of was just ten years ago, in death penalty cases that is actually swift justice. All of his appeals have been denied, including the USSC refusing to review. What is odd is that according to law the execution date must be at least 91 days after the judge signs the death warrant, his warrant was signed on 4 Jun 2015. The TDJC has rejected dates in the past when the 91 day rule was followed.
However, the hour is rapidly approaching and the family of Mrs. Schneider, God Bless all of them, will see justice served for this murderer of a 4’9″ 93 year old lady. That she was brutally attacked, stabbed, asphyxiated and then set on fire is all that is necessary to understand how depraved Williams is and deserves his fate.
For further information on this despicable crime, HERE is an article from Murderpedia.
“Dead Man Walking” An Enlightened Perspective
Since the 23 Apr scheduled Texas execution for Richard Vasquez was stayed, I thought instead I would post a fascinating article by John Nantz at Townhall.
To preface the article, I have found it fascinating and troubling over the past decade to encounter the various arguments opposed to the death penalty. I concluded many years ago that whether they were people with uninformed good intentions or intentionally determined to destroy society, the result is still the same.
The anti-DP arguers often make reference to Christianity and that we should be forgiving, or mock those of us who are Christian and fully support execution. Many won’t refer to the Old Testament and instead focus on the life and teachings of Jesus, while ignoring or never realizing Christ himself stated clearly that he did not abrogate God’s laws that came before him.
That said, there are some fascinating Biblical references in the Nantz article, which can be found HERE.
For me, this quote by a man that has had to deal with his sister’s murder is worthy of recognition:
“But I believe the gift of life and freedom he took from my sister precludes him from ever being allowed to enjoy that gift for himself,”
Execution Watch: Manuel Fernando Garza, Jr. (TX)*Updated*
garza
*UPDATES*
Last Meal: For his last meal, Garza had a grilled pork chop, sweet potatoes, green beans, black beans, cornbread, and peach cake, with a choice of water, tea, or punch to drink.(per Last Suppers Book)
Last Words: Garza said he was sorry for causing pain to his family, friends and “especially police officers.”
“Y’all probably hate me,” he said, looking at three friends of his victim, dressed in their navy blue San Antonio police uniforms. He wished them “peace and love and hope y’all find God like I have and I’ll see you on the other side.”
*Thug: Manuel Garza, Jr(20 at time of offense)
*Date of Execution: April 15, 2015
*Date of Crime: February 2, 2001
*Victim: John “Rocky” Riojas, 37 (San Antonio police officer)
*Last Meal and Last Words TBA
Some time after 6p.m. CDT this cop killer will cease to exist. Unfortunately for the family of Officer Riojas they have received a life sentence of sorrow due to the murder. It has been fourteen years since Officer Riojas was murdered, his daughter was two years old and his son eight weeks at the time. Mrs. Riojas has not married again.
HERE is a nice piece on Officer Riojas and the effect it has had on so many.
HERE is the Texas Attorney General’s media advisory for Garza’s execution. Make note of the lengthy criminal history for such a young man, the future looked bleak for the citizens of Texas had this cretin not been stopped.
At this time there are no known last minute appeals, the procedural process seems to have reached its conclusion and Garza will become the sixth murderer to be executed in Texas this year.
My sincerest best wishes for the Riojas family and the SAPD. May this service of justice assuage some of the agony they have endured for the past fourteen years.
Execution Watch: Kent Sprouse (TX)*Updated*
sprouse
officer steinfeldt
*UPDATES*
*Last Meal: Since death row inmates there are no longer allowed to order special last meals, Sprouse was given the same food as others in his unit. For his last meal, Sprouse had beef noodle casserole, peas & carrots, black beans, and cornbread, with a choice of punch, tea, or water to drink.(per Last Suppers Book)
*Last Words: He apologized to the families of slain Ferris police officer Marty Steinfieldt and Pedro Moreno, an innocent bystander who was also killed in the 2002 shooting spree, “for all the trouble I have caused them.” He also apologized to his own family.
“I guess that’s it,” he said. (per WFAA)
*Thug: Kent William Sprouse
*Date of Execution: 9 Apr 2015
*Date of Crimes: 6 Oct 2002
*Victims: Police Officer Harry Marvin “Marty” Steinfeldt III, 28 / Pedro Moreno, 38
*Last Words and Last Meal TBA.
Sometime after 6p.m.Central, this murderer will be given final justice. It hasn’t taken as long as too many others on death row to reach this point. All his appeals to the various courts have been denied and with the Supreme Court refusing to even hear his plea it seems certain Sprouse will soon be no more.
His conviction and sentence can be summed up in this statement he made shortly after he murdered Officer Steinfeldt:
Court records indicate that Sprouse told an officer who accompanied him to a hospital that he believed Moreno was an undercover officer, so he shot him.
“And I shot the other officer that was in uniform,” Sprouse said, according to the records.(Source)
There was some gum-flapping that he was insane after using methamphetamine, but he took responsibility for his actions to follow before he used illicit drugs and clearly understood what he had done afterward.
HERE is another article that addresses his use of meth.
As for the pentobarbital supply, the TDCJ received a fresh batch on 25 Mar 15 and should be an adequate supply for the next three executions set for this month.
My sincerest best wishes for the family of Officer Steinfeldt and his fellow officers.
Execution Watch: Manuel Vasquez(TX) *UPDATED*
I have to apolgize for not posting on the last execution, Donald Newbury, which took place on 4 Feb 15. Work this year has been demanding.
Tonight’s scheduled execution looks like it will go forward, unlike so many stays we have seen recently.vasquez
*Thug: Manuel Vasquez(29 at time of offense)
*Date of execution: 11 March 2015
*Date of crime: 19 Mar 1998
*Victim: Juanita Ybarra (female, 51)
*Last Meal: For his last meal, Vasquez was served Pepper Steak, mashed potatoes, brown gravy, carrots, ranch style beans, sliced bread, and apple glazed cake, with a choice of water, tea, or punch to drink.(per Last Suppers Book)
*Last Words: thanked ‘the Lord for his kind mercy, faithfulness and unconditional love.’ ‘In Jesus’ name I pray,’ he said, then told the warden: ‘I’m ready.
After a violent criminal history in his short life, this contract killer for the Mexican Mafia will finally face justice some time after 6p.m. CST.
The media advisory from the State AG can be found here.
His criminal history was not only a violent one, it was extensive:
During the punishment phase, the State presented evidence regarding Vasquez’s violent criminal history, including (1) Vasquez’s receiving a 10-year sentence for aggravated assault for his role in the Aug. 31, 1986, death of Robert Alva during which Vasquez (along with his younger brother and others) choked Alva with a belt, beat him with a crowbar, kicked him, and set him on fire after dousing him with gasoline; (2) Vasquez’s commission of robbery by threats on Aug. 31, 1986, for which he received one year probation; (3) Vasquez’s March 5, 1992, execution style murder of drug dealer Richard Pacheco in retaliation for Pacheco’s failure to pay the [organized crime gang]’s “tax” on proceeds from the sale of illegal drugs; (4) Vasquez’s nearly fatal stabbing of Hector Zacharias on May 31, 1992, and resultant conviction and 8-year sentence for attempted murder; and (5) Vasquez’s participation with several other individuals in a series of burglaries and a pair of unsolved robberies committed in September – October 1996.
The State also presented evidence regarding Vasquez’s potential for future dangerousness. A Bexar County Sheriff’s Department officer testified that Vasquez was “a disruptive, violent, aggressive and dangerousness inmate” who was kept in segregation or isolation for the entire period in jail as a result of his assaultive behavior towards staff and inmates. Vasquez continued to associate with an organized criminal organization while he was awaiting trial for capital murder and was found in possession of a letter from a general of the criminal organization and a pair of treaties executed by the criminal organization with other prison gangs. Finally, while Vasquez was incarcerated at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, he obtained disciplinary actions for possessing a weapon, inciting a riot, and engaging in a fight.
The details of the crime he is being executed for is as follows:
On June 10, 1998, a Bexar County grand jury indicted Vasquez for the March 19, 1998, capital murder of Juanita Ybarra, charging that Vasquez intentionally killed Ybarra by strangling her with a ligature(a telephone cord) while in the course of committing and attempting to commit the offense of robbery.
Vasquez was attempting to collect a ten percent tax on Ybarra’s drug sales for the Mexican Mafia, a “dime” as they call it.
Finally, his violent criminal history that began almost thirty years ago(as far as we know) will come to an end. Our state and our cities will be just a little safer.
For Vasquez, the words from our old friend Robbie ring true…”Some people are just no damn good.”
Belated Execution Watch: Robert Ladd(TX)
Not going to use the standard format for this murderer, as his execution took place on 29 Jan 15.
I knew he was scheduled for that day, but based on the number of stays the courts have been issuing lately and his defense teams motions claiming Ladd was “mentally incapable” of understanding his pending execution, I thought this would be another delay. After all, it was already eighteen years since he murdered this victim, Vickie Ann Gardner.
Unfortunately, by the time I discovered his execution would go forward, after clearing the last court hurdles, I was away from the computer and busy.
Ladd had a lengthy criminal history which included the murders of a woman and her two infant children. In 1980 he received two forty year sentences for murder and one sentence of twenty years for arson, then in 1984 he received another forty year sentence for murder. A total of one hundred forty years of sentences by 1984, and yet he was free to murder again twelve years later.
This trash should have been taken out long ago, but for reasons we can only speculate, he was repeatedly released from prison for committing violent crimes and as expected he continued with his murderous ways causing needless suffering to an untold number of people.
In my view, the people responsible for continuing to release this creature from prison should have been strapped down on the gurney next to Ladd.
EXECUTION WATCH: Arnold Prieto(TX)*UPDATED*
arnold*Thug: Arnold Prieto(age 20 at time of murders)
*Date of execution: 21 Jan 2015
*Date of crime: 9 Nov 1993
*Victims: Rudolfo Rodriguez 72, his wife Virginia 62 and Paula Moran 90.
*Last meal: TBA, no special requests allowed.
*Final words: TBA.
*UPDATES*
*Last meal-For his last meal, Prieto was served barbequed chopped beef, pinto beans, and carrots, with the usual choice of tea, punch, or water to drink. (per Last Suppers Book)
*Final words-“There are no endings, only beginnings. Love y’all. See you soon.” Then, as the injection began…”whoa.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the first execution in Texas for 2015, after two earlier stays this January, comes one Arnold Prieto. He will finally face justice for his part in the murders of three elderly people twenty two years ago.

It’s difficult to understand why it has taken so long, perhaps the fact that there are two other defendants in this case contributed to the numerous and time consuming legal procedures.

There is some conflicting information about the crimes Prieto is being punished for, some say it was his elderly relatives that were murdered, but I will rely on the Texas OAG as the factual source.

The OAG provides the following info:

The Hernandez brothers, Lupe and Jesse, were friends of [Prieto]’s who supplied [him] with free cocaine. The Hernandez brothers, particularly Lupe, would often mention a rich uncle in San Antonio, Rodolfo Rodriguez, who was married to the brothers’ aunt, Virginia Rodriguez. They told [Prieto] their uncle was a loan shark who kept a closet full of money.

[Prieto] and Lupe began taking cocaine early on the day of the offense which occurred in September 1993. Lupe repeatedly asserted that he wanted to go to San Antonio to get his uncle’s money. [Prieto]’s confession claimed Lupe “pressured” [him] into going to San Antonio to get his uncle’s money. The Hernandez brothers and [Prieto] set off from Carrollton in [Prieto]’s car for the victims’ home in San Antonio. They took cocaine throughout the trip.

During the penalty phase of Prieto’s trial, jurors learned that Prieto was federally indicted in January 1994 for engaging in organized criminal activity and stealing 163 laptop computers – worth approximately $676,000 – from his Dallas-area employer. Prieto was associated with an organized-crime ring involved in the theft and resale of various products: tires, chemicals, furniture, and computers. The jury also heard evidence that, while incarcerated awaiting trial, Prieto was disciplined for multiple instances of disobeying orders, violating security rules, possession of contraband, yelling, and changing television channels without permission. Finally, jurors learned that Prieto was arrested and confessed to the 1990 burglaries of a Lincoln, two trucks, and two vans.

Some time after 6p.m.CDT Prieto will finally pay the debt he owes the state of Texas for murder. His short, but menacing criminal ways will come to an end.

Execution Watch: Charles Frederick Warner

Final Justice in Oklahoma

McAlester, OK. (AP)

Charles Frederick Warner’s execution for the 1997 killing of an 11-month-old girl in Oklahoma City lasted 18 minutes. Prison officials declared him dead at 7:28 p.m. CST.

“Before I give my final statement, I’ll tell you they poked me five times. It hurt. It feels like acid,” Warner said before his execution began. He added, “I’m not a monster. I didn’t do everything they said I did.”

After the first drug, the sedative midazolam, was administered and a microphone inside the death chamber was turned off, Warner said, “My body is on fire.” But he showed no obvious signs of distress.

Witnesses said they saw slight twitching in Warner’s neck about three minutes after the lethal injection started. The twitching lasted about seven minutes until he stopped breathing.

The young girl would be 17 years old now, if this scum had not raped and murdered her.

Gov. Mary Fallin’s comment sums up this case, and the certain finality that Warner will be permanently removed from the human gene pool:

“Justice was served tonight as the state executed Charles Warner for the heinous crime of raping and murdering an infant,”

Taking out the garbage, indeed.

Execution Watch: Miguel Angel Paredes(*UPDATED*)

Last meal: chicken & rice, corn, sweet peas, pinto beans, cornbread, and coffee cake, with a choice of water, tea, or punch to drink. (per Last Suppers)
Last words: “To the victim’s family, I want you to know that I hope you let go of all the hate because of my actions,” he said during his final statement. “The lion came here as a lamb.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Thug: Miguel Angel Paredes(age 18 at time of offense)
*Date of execution: October 28, 2014
*Date of Crimes: September 17, 2000
*Victims: Adrian Torres, Nelly Bravo, and Shawn Cain
*Last meal: No special requests, a shit salad would be appropriate.
*Final words: TBA
The only thing remarkable about this scheduled execution is…it is the last for 2014 and will make the tenth this year, with the next one scheduled for 14 Jan 15.
For Paredes it is farewell to bad news. There will be no more murders(involved in 5 that we know of), no more burning of bodies(4 that we know of), no more drive by shootings, no more shooting and wounding, no more DUI, no more kidnapping, no more criminal trespass and no more unlawfully carrying a firearm.  It took his enthusiastic involvement in the murder of three rival gang drug dealers to bring him to justice.
Sometime after 6p.m. Central time, Paredes will cease to exist, he will shuffle off from this mortal coil, he will be NO MORE.
Execution Watch: Lisa Ann Coleman(Updated)
**UPDATES**
*Last meal:For her last meal, Lisa Coleman was served a fried pork chop, macaroni and cheese, carrots, green beans, navy beans, sliced bread, and pineapple orange cake, with a choice of tea, punch, or water to drink(per Last Suppers).
*Last words:Her last words were directed at her fellow inmate, Darlie Routier(murderer of her own children).
*Thug: Lisa Ann Coleman(28 at time of crime)
*Date of execution: September 17, 2014
*Date of crime: July 26, 2004
*Victim: Davontae Williams(age 9)
*Last meal: TBA, no special requests allowed
*Final Words: TBA
As our friend Robbie used to always say, “some people are just no damned good.” Truer words have never been spoken when Lisa Ann Coleman is concerned.
The facts of the case can be found HERE, but to summarize she brutalized and starved to death a nine year old boy.
Crime Scene Investigator Regina Taylor testified that Davontae had “numerous injuries throughout … his entire body,” including a disfigured ear, swollen hands, a slit in his lip, and “ligature marks around his wrists and ankles.” Pediatrician Nancy Kellogg identified over 250 wounds on his corpse. Dr. Konzelmann testified that injuries to Davontae’s hands, arms, and ankles were consistent with his having been bound repeatedly. Konzelmann initially believed that Davontae had “life-threatening blunt-force injuries, perhaps bleeding on the brain, broken bones, et cetera” that caused his death.
Ultimately, however, Dr. Konzelmann deemed the cause of Davontae’s death to be malnutrition with pneumonia.
The young boy wasn’t her son, not even a blood relative, but the son of her homosexual lover, Marcella Williams. The facts of the case and the procedural history give no weight to her sexual preference or her race, but that hasn’t stopped an absolute loon for a lawyer, John Stickles, from going where no death penalty opponent has gone before.
“What she’s really guilty of is being a black lesbian,” Stickels said. “If she is executed, it will be because of her sexual orientation. Her sexual orientation played a role in the state choosing to seek the death penalty and in her getting the death penalty.
Source
For someone to knowingly and willingly harm a child in any way already puts them on my bad side. Starving to death while torturing this young boy is unforgivable and I sincerely hope all her sick lawyer’s tricks are exhausted so she can receive the justice she has earned and that society demands.
EXECUTION WATCH: Willie Tyrone Trottie
*Last meal: TBA, no special requests allowed.
*Last words: TBA
It has been nearly twenty one years since Trottie was sentenced to death by a Harris County jury. That jury issued their sentence only seven months after his double murder.
It is truly unfortunate that it is taking this long for justice to be served. There is no dispute in his guilt, there were numerous witnesses to the crimes and he drove himself to the hospital in one of the victims car for a gun shot wound.
Facts of the case:
The United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit described the murders of Barbara and Titus Canada as follows:
EXECUTION WATCH: Robert James Campbell(TX)
Alexandra Rendon
Robert James Campbell
*Thug: Robert James Campbell (age 18, at time of murder)
*Date of execution: May 13, 2014 (shortly after 6p.m. CST
*Date of crime: January 3, 1991
*Victim: Alexandra Rendon (age 20)
*Last meal: Same shit salad served inmates at Polunsky
*Final words: TBD, though his last words to Ms. Rendon will not be forgotten…”run bitch.”
Now comes one Robert James Campbell, to receive final justice for the cruel rape and murder of an innocent young lady that was scheduled to be married in four months. Alexandra Rendon was buried in the wedding gown, instead of a symbol of joy it was now a symbol of loss and pain.
Facts of the case:
Campbell and his accomplice, Leroy Lewis, abducted the young Bank One teller as she fueled her car at a service station not far from her southwest side apartment about 11 p.m. on Jan. 3, 1991. The men drove her to a muddy field in the 9700 block of Knight Road, where she was sexually assaulted and ordered to run.
Campbell, 18, paroled months earlier after serving four months of a five-year sentence for two robberies, fired a shot at Rendon’s head – and missed. The second shot slammed into the woman’s back with deadly effect.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Campbell’s friends later told authorities he had boasted of the crime. Police recovered Rendon’s coat from Campbell’s mother; her watch and high school class ring from the killer’s girlfriend. Lewis, also 18, confessed to police. He was paroled in May 2012 after serving nine years of a 35-year sentence in the case.

There is no question of his guilt, the only question most will ask is, why did it take so long for Campbell to receive justice?
The simple answer is, weasels wrote writs:

*On April 2, 1991, a Harris County grand jury indicted Campbell for rape- and kidnaping-related capital murder.
*On May 14, 1992, after a trial in the 232nd District Court of Harris County, jurors found Campbell guilty of capital murder.
*On May 21, 1992, after a punishment hearing, the judge entered an order sentencing Campbell to death.
*On June 14, 1995, on direct review, the Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed Campbell’s conviction and sentence.
*On April 15, 1996, the U.S. Supreme Court denied certiorari review of the Court of Criminal Appeals decision.
*On April 23, 1997, Campbell filed his first application for state habeas corpus relief. The Court of Criminal Appeals denied Campbell’s petition on March 8, 2000.
*On Nov. 2, 2000, Campbell filed his federal petition for habeas corpus relief in the Southern District of Texas. The federal district court denied the petition on March 19, 2003.
*Campbell filed his second application for state habeas corpus relief on June 2, 2003. The Court of Criminal Appeals dismissed Campbell’s second application for habeas corpus relief on July 2, 2003.
*On July 22, 2003, Campbell moved in the Fifth Circuit for permission to file a successive federal habeas corpus petition. The Fifth Circuit denied Campbell permission on Nov. 13, 2003.
*On Dec. 9, 2004 – in connection with Campbell’s initial federal petition for habeas corpus relief – the Fifth Circuit denied Campbell a certificate of appealability, thus denying permission to appeal.
*On Nov. 14, 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court denied certiorari review of the Fifth Circuit Court’s decision denying Campbell a certificate of appealability.
*On Aug. 14, 2006, Campbell filed his third application for state habeas corpus relief. The Court of Criminal Appeals dismissed Campbell’s third application for habeas corpus relief on April 25, 2007.
*On Nov. 26, 2007, the U.S. Supreme Court denied certiorari review of the Court of Criminal Appeals decision regarding Campbell’s third application for state habeas corpus relief.
*Campbell filed his fourth application for state habeas corpus relief on Sept. 5, 2012.
*On Nov. 7, 2012, the Court of Criminal Appeals denied relief on Campbell’s fourth application for habeas corpus relief.
*On Oct. 7, 2013, the U.S. Supreme Court denied certiorari review of Campbell’s fourth application for state habeas corpus relief.
*On Nov. 18, 2013, the 232nd District Court of Harris County scheduled Campbell’s execution for May 13, 2014.

In addition, Campbell’s lawyers have tried and failed with recent appeals claiming he is mentally incompetent and that the state needs to disclose who the drug provider is as a result of the unusual(but successful) results from the Lockett execution in Oklahoma.

It appears Campbell will finally receive justice this coming Tuesday night.

For the family of Alexandra Rendon, nothing can assuage the pain you have had to endure all this time. As for the uncle, Israel Santana, I can only hope you have awakened to the suffering others have to deal with from the actions of those you defend and not just the selfish pity you feel for the loss of your loved one.

EXECUTION WATCH: Jose Luis Villegas(TX)*UPDATED*

*Update* For his last meal, Villegas had a beef sloppy joe, macaroni and cheese, carrots, sweet peas, black-eyed peas, and sliced bread, with a choice of tea, punch, or water to drink.(per Last Suppers)

**Update** Prior to being executed, Villegas made the following statement: “I would like to remind my children once again I love them,” Villegas said when asked if he had a statement before being put to death. “Everything is OK. I love you all, and I love my children. I am at peace.”(per ProDeath Penalty)
————————–
*Thug: Jose Luis Villegas(age 25 at time of murders)
*Date of Execution: 16 April 2014
*Date of Crime: 22 January 2001
*Victims: Erida Perez Salazar, age 24; her son, Jacob, age 3; Alma Perez, age 51
*Last Meal: TBA, no special requests.
*Final Words: TBD.

What a despicable creature Villegas is. There aren’t words adequate enough to describe how disgusting his crime was.

Not only did he murder two women and a child, he did so in an appalling manner. Mrs. Perez was the first to die, stabbed 35 times, then her daughter Ms. Salazar was stabbed 32 times and finally the young boy, Jacob, was stabbed 19 times.

Villegas was identified by a witness leaving the house, was spotted, chased and caught by the police driving Ms. Salazar’s car, then confessed to the crime after being Mirandized. There was physical evidence linking him to the crime, including DNA.

His conviction took twenty minutes, which to me indicates the jury was very, very deliberate in their duty.

What is seldom mentioned is Villegas criminal past.

Villegas had multiple previous arrests, including burglary, making terroristic threats to kill a woman, assaults and two counts of indecency with a child for exposing himself and fondling the daughter of the woman he was accused of punching in the face. Records showed he had spent at least 200 days in jail and four years on probation.(Source)

In fact, he was due to go on trial for assault on a woman the day he committed these murders.

Meanwhile, justice has ground very slowly, mostly due to a judge who just couldn’t seem to get around to setting an execution date. Once the date was set, suddenly his attorneys realized he is “mentally impaired,” which the court rejected. There was a brief delay a few weeks ago when the new pentobarbital was being questioned, but that issue has been resolved by the courts, also.

It appears Villegas’ assaulting, burgling, fondling, murdering and stealing will finally come to an end tonight. As a drug user, at least he has 6p.m. to look forward too.

Sadly for Mr. Perez, the pain caused by Villegas continues.

EXECUTION WATCH: Ramiro Hernandez(TX)*UPDATED*

Glen Ernst Lich
*Update* An image believed to be of Dr. Lich
**Update** For his last meal, Hernandez-Llanas had chicken patties, mashed potatoes with country gravy, squash, navy beans, sliced bread, yellow cake with vanilla icing, and a choice of tea, punch, or water to drink.(per Last Suppers)
***Update*** In a final statement, Hernandez asked forgiveness from the victim’s family and said he was at peace.(per ProDeathPenalty)
———————–
*Thug: Ramiro Hernandez(28 when murder committed)
*Date of execution: April 9, 2014
*Date of crime: October 14, 1997
*Victim: Glen H. Lich(age 48)
*Last meal: TBD, no special requests allowed.
*Last words: TBD.

Hernandez is the new poster boy for why the death penalty is essential for a civilized society. He began his violent, murdering ways at a very early age. His escape from a Mexican prison for murder and fleeing to the U.S. is often glossed over, but he was a murderer and an ILLEGAL alien. In this case, the Mexican government has backed away from previous claims involving murderous ILLEGAL aliens that he should be spared.

The victim of Ramiro’s crime was Glen H. Lich, a well respected educator and author from Texas. Dr. Lich was murdered by 10-11 blunt force blows to the head. The following is an obituary published shortly after his funeral:

Kerrville Mountain Sun
October 22, 1997

Glen E. Lich, 48, died October 14, 1997, at his home south of Kerrville. He was born in Fredericksburg.

Lich enjoyed a distinguished career in education and in regional and international affairs. He grew up in the Cypress Creek community in Kerr County, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Southwestern University, Masters of Arts from Southwest Texas State University and the University of Texas, and a Doctor of Philosophy from Texas Christian University.

Between 1979 and 1993, he taught at Schreiner College and Baylor university and he held an endowed professorship at the University of Winnipeg. He is the author of numerous books including “The German Texans”, “Fred Gipson at Work” and “The Humanities and Public Issues”, as well as dozens of articles, reviews and reports for journals, handbooks, Congressional publications and national and international conferences.

He also served 26 years in the U.S Army, Army Reserves and National Guard. Between 1993 and 1995, he was instrumental in establishing the Partnership for Peace programs in Romania, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. In 1993, he established the Hill Country Institute, a private consultancy specializing in improving life of the Texas Hill Country through philanthropy, research and leadership.

Dr. Lich is survived by his wife, Lera Tyler Lich, his son, Stephen W. Lich-Tyler, his daughter Elizabeth E. Lich-Tyler, his father, Perry Lich of Cypress Creek, and his sister, Nancy Lich Jones of Cypress Creek.

Funeral services under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapels, were held Saturday at St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Comfort, with interment at the Cypress Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hill Country Project, c/o Ms. Lynn LeMeilleur, 305 Earl Garrett, Kerrville, Texas 78028.

Hernandez took away a gentleman of value and virtue in a brutal fashion. One of Dr. Lich’s books was Fred Gipson at Work. Fred Gipson is best known to many as the author of “Old Yeller.”

Hernandez also sexually brutalized Mrs. Lich repeatedly. Then, while waiting for his murder trial to begin he murdered a female jailer by stabbing her repeatedly with an improvised knife. The jailer has remained unidentified from all available sources.

It appears at this time that all options to halt Ramiro’s execution are exhausted. His attorneys have tried many different approaches, from their appeal in 2006 that he was “retarded,” to the most recent claims that the new pentobarbital should not be used, which the Board of Pardons and Paroles has denied.

I sincerely wish I could find an image of Dr. Lich, but have been unsuccessful. As a result, I will not post an image of the murdering, raping ILLEGAL alien Hernandez. Nothing can alter the pain and suffering of the Lich family, but perhaps Hernandez facing justice for what he has taken can offer some solace.

In just over 24 hours Hernandez will face justice for his crimes and Texas will be just a little safer.

EXECUTION WATCH: Tommy Lynn Sells *Updated*

Kaylene Harris

*Thug: Tommy Lynn Sells(claims his first murder was at age 16)
Date of Execution: April 3, 2014
Date of crime: December 31, 1999
Victim: Kaylene Harris (age 13)
Last Meal: Same as all other inmates at Polunsky. *Update*:For his last meal, Tommy Lynn Sells had BBQ chopped brisket, chilled pasta salad, peas and carrots, sliced pickles, sliced bread, and he had a choice of tea, punch, or water to drink.(per Last Suppers)
Final Words: TBD.*Update*:He said nothing at all.

Pardon my confusion on this creatures execution date, the listing I had was for 22 Apr.

Regardless, Texas will impose justice on this serial killer. His murder spree lasted almost twenty years. His final murder was of an innocent young girl in Texas, Kaylene “Katy” Harris, which was terrible in its brutality, with the young girl being stabbed sixteen times.

Sells claims to have committed murders from coast to coast and in the range of seventy victims, but no one will ever know for certain.

What is certain is he will never kill or harm another innocent soul again, as his will be roasting in the fires of Hell after tonight.

EXECUTION WATCH: Anthony Dewayne Doyle (TX)*Updated*

doyle

Anthony D. Doyle

Hyun Mi Cho

*Thug: Anthony Dewayne Doyle (18 at time of crime)
*Date of execution: 27 Mar 14
*Victim: Hyun Mi Cho (female, age 37)
*Last meal: TBD, same shit salad served other inmates.*UPDATE* For his last meal, Doyle had a chicken patty, mashed potatoes with country gravy, navy beans, mixed vegetables, sliced bread, and he had a choice of tea, punch, or water to drink.(per Last Suppers)
*Final Words: TBD. In an undated comment Doyle stated “Everyone messes up from time to time but it takes a real man to admit his wrong doings and accept the consequences.” We shall see if he owns up to his alleged manliness.***UPDATE***: Anthony Doyle shook his head and said nothing inside the death chamber in Huntsville when a warden asked if he had a statement to make.(per Pro-Death Penalty)
No words and no remorse.

This scheduled execution has me thoroughly perplexed due to the fact that I can find no images or personal history of Hyun Cho. Including Doyle’s image and history is a disservice to the victim with the absence of her story. I can’t show her image, I can’t disclose if she was married or not, if she had children or any information about her parents or possible siblings.

*UPDATE* A shred of info on Ms. Cho is mentioned in a Grazyck piece from yesterday:”Cho, 37, had been in the U.S. about two years and was earning money to care for her ill parents in South Korea, according to Cho’s sister, who operated two doughnut shops.”
**UPDATE** Found an image of Hyun Mi Cho.

I can only discuss the brutal murder of an innocent woman who was simply working for a living when she had the misfortune of encountering Doyle.

Ms. Cho was delivering a dozen donuts and a dozen breakfast burritos to Doyle’s mother’s house, where Doyle was waiting with an aluminum baseball bat to rob Cho. When Cho informed Doyle she had no money, he struck her twice in the head with the bat and with assistance, stuffed her body in a large rolling trash can. Doyle made an attempt to hide the blood stains and splatters from his crime then proceeded to take Cho’s car, cellphone and credit cards.

The above hyperlink on Doyle’s name gives a brief synopsis of the crime, but in a ten page statement from Doyle we get a better idea of the brutality, callousness and perverse nature of Doyle.

When Cho informed Doyle that she did not have any money, Doyle writes, “I struck her in the head two times… after the second strike, I realized what I was doing and that I had really screwed up badly, so I dropped the bat and started to clean up the blood.”

Doyle told police that a friend arrived shortly after the attack. That friend, Doyle says, helped him remove the body from the house. “He then went outside and got our big green trash bin,” Doyle admits, “(he) brought it into the kitchen area and turned it on its side and shoved the lady into the bin. I then helped him sit the garbage bin upright. When I looked into the bin, the woman looked as if she were breathing, and she also moved her arms as if she were trying to get up.”

Doyle deserves the ‘tortures of the damned’ for his actions.

All of Doyle’s appeals appear to have been used up all the way to the USSC, though an attorney issued another motion to the U.S. 5th CCA on 21 Mar. I expect that Doyle will have his manliness tested come 6p.m. 27 Mar 14.

I do regret to you the readers for being unable to find any information or an image for Ms. Cho. She deserves recognition and to be acknowledged as more than a footnote to Doyle’s criminal behavior.

EXECUTION WATCH: Ray Jasper (TX)*Updated*

David Alejandro

*Thug: Ray Jasper (19 at time of offense)
*Date of Execution:March 19, 2014
*Date of Crime: November 29, 1998
*Victim: David Alejandro(33)
*Last Meal: Same shit salad served to inmates that day. *UPDATE*: For his last meal, Jasper had baked chicken, roasted potatoes, a vegetable blend, navy beans, and sliced bread. He was given a choice of tea, punch, or water to drink.(per Last Suppers Book)
*Final Words: TBD. I expect them to be self-serving. *UPDATE*: Before being put to death, Jasper spoke quietly, asking his family to “take care of each other, stay strong and faithful to God.” He also thanked his supporters and told his daughter that he loved her, adding that she “be strong, be positive, have a great life.” Jasper then asked that the “Lord God almighty in heaven Jesus Christ see my spirit.”(per Pro-Death Penalty)
No mention of the victim or remorse for his crime.

Now comes one Ray Jasper, a murderer that claims he isn’t because his cutting the throat of the victim wasn’t declared the cause of death, his accomplices twenty stab wounds were deemed the cause. A truly pathetic defense that has been lapped up by the bowl full from the hand-wringing thug lovers. He planned the crime, initiated it, offered no assistance to the man whose throat he slashed, then covered the victim so he wouldn’t have to look at him as he carried out his planned robbery.

The death penalty is intended for creatures such as this and come this Wednesday evening, Jasper will become Satan’s newest chew toy.

Jasper got some recent attention for a narcissistic, pathetic, self-serving and remorseless long winded letter which was published at numerous blogs and websites.  I won’t give it a direct link here, nor to the response from the brother of David Alejandro(Steven).  I will link to an interesting article I found in the Dallas Morning News yesterday, Stop turning death row inmates into tragic celebrities. The author isn’t my newest hero, nor is Steven Alejandro, but they are certainly more clear and direct than Jasper.

Jasper is fully and solely responsible for his pending execution, not the State of Texas.

Execution Watch: Suzanne Margaret Basso(TX)

*UPDATE* Justice was served.

*Thuggette: Suzanne Margaret Basso (44 at time of murder)

*Date of Execution: February 5, 2014

*Date of Crime: August 25, 1998

*Victim: Louis “Buddy” Musso (age 59)

*Last Meal: Last meal requests no longer allowed.

*Final Words: “No, sir.”

Looking at this woman’s history and deeds, her dysfunctional nature can be directly attributed to her family life growing up in New York.  I was reminded by her of something Tiberius once said about Caligula(and we all know how screwed up he was):

 …to allow Gaius(Caligula)  to live would prove the ruin of himself and of all men, and that he was rearing a viper for the Roman people and a Phaethon for the world.

For the citizens of Texas, this murderous woman will no longer be able to harm anyone else after Wednesday the fifth of February.

Basso’s role as kidnapper and ring leader of torture to death of a gentle, mentally challenged Louis Musso for financial gain was as brutal and sick a crime as any rational person could imagine.

In the days leading up to his death, Musso suffered tremendous abuse at the hands of the appellant and her five co-defendants. The appellant would take Musso to the apartment of co-defendants Bernice Ahrens, Craig and Hope Ahrens (Bernice’s son and daughter), and Terence Singleton (Hope’s fiancé), where Musso was forced to remain seated or in a kneeling position on a plastic mat in the hallway for hours. Whenever Musso attempted to get off the mat, O’Malley would beat or kick him. O’Malley, Singleton, Bernice, and Craig beat Musso, and O’Malley, while wearing combat boots, kicked him repeatedly. The appellant beat Musso with a baseball bat on the buttocks, back, and groin area, and both she and Hope struck him with a belt and buckle. After hearing that Musso had been “misbehaving” while she was away from the apartment, the appellant, who weighed over 300 pounds, repeatedly jumped on top of Musso while he was on his hands and knees, causing him to fall flat on the ground. At one point, Musso requested that someone there call an ambulance. Even though Hope, as she later admitted, recognized the extent of Musso’s injuries, he received no medical attention. Someone (the evidence suggests either O’Malley or Singleton and Craig) bathed Musso in a solution of bleach and Pine-Sol cleaning fluid, using a wire brush on his body. Apparently, his killers were giving Musso this kind of “bath” when he died.

Basso has tried nearly every trick in the book to avoid her just execution, but they have all failed, even her attempt to appear delusional when her competency hearing was held.

The harm this woman has caused so many, including to her own children, will end next week.  Justice has taken far too long for this creature.
