Muslim thugs torch 1147 vehicles in France

The French yoots are at it again, committing arson and mayhem on a grand scale to welcome in the new year in France.

Update: The French press reported that the Interior Ministry released a final “verified” count of 1,147 vehicles burned in France over New Year’s Eve. The number is up 30.64% from last year’s total, 878.

REUTERS – At least 445 cars were torched over the night of New Year’s Eve in France, a 20 percent rise on last year, but there were relatively few clashes with police, the Interior Ministry and police said on Thursday.

Car burnings are regular occurrences in France but the registering the New Year’s Eve total has become something of a tradition since they achieved symbolic status in the violent rioting that shook many of the country’s poor suburbs in 2005.

These are the kind of people that Obama thinks he can sit down and talk to?

WTF Open Thread

2008. The year of WTF.

People behaving out of character. A realignment on the political Right. The attempt to marginalize Christians. Weird, strange, unpredictable stuff. I can’t think of a better way to describe it than “WTF.”

First up, articles from NRO, Times Online, and JihadWatch.

Writing at NRO, Mark Steyn takes issue with those who would try to use the “nazi” label against the anti-jihad alliance. Roger Boyles continues the theme at the Times, And, writing at JihadWatch, Spencer takes on WSJ.

Mark Steyn says, “Silence = Acceptance”

We are told that the “vast majority” of the 1.6-1.8 billion Muslims (in Deepak Chopra’s estimate) are “moderate.” Maybe so, but they’re also quiet. And, as the AIDs activists used to say, “Silence=Acceptance.” It equals acceptance of the things done in the name of their faith. Rabbi Holtzberg was not murdered because of a territorial dispute over Kashmir or because of Bush’s foreign policy. He was murdered in the name of Islam — “Allahu Akbar.”

Roger Boyles reports from Berlin, “Mosques are a land grab, not a place of worship.”

So says Ralph Giordano, 85, Holocaust survivor. His protests against the grand mosque in Cologne brought a flood of supportive mail.

“…Mr. Giordano, we are afraid as you are of this creeping Islamification but we can’t say anything in public because we will end up being branded as neo-Nazis.”

The novelist and essayist pauses for effect. “Well, that’s something that cannot be pinned on me!”

Mr Giordano finds himself in the company of far-right activists. “Of course, you have to distance yourself clearly from these people – obviously their racist, neo-Nazis arguments are quite different from mine – but I am not going to be muzzled just because people are fighting on the same issue with false arguments and a false ideology.”

Also counterpunching against the PC “right” at JihadWatch,

Over the weekend, Robert Spencer called out Wall St. Journal drone James Taranto on his cynicism about the intentions of the man who is most adamant about preserving Western civilization, Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders.

Specifically, as Spencer points out, Taranto finds Wilders’ views on Islam “problematic” and isn’t sure whether or not Geert Wilders is simply an “anti-Islamic provocateur.” To which Spencer replies, “It is a pity that Taranto would characterize speaking accurately about how Muslims use Islamic texts and teachings to justify violence and Islamic supremacism as being an ‘anti-Islamic provocateur.’”

More WTF on the domestic front, as the Mother of all Bailouts continues….

The Ohio Agriculture Department conducts a SWAT Team raid on a food co-op known as the Mana Storehouse. The charge? Running a retail establishment without a license. No kidding. Selling unlicensed food is now an offense worthy of a SWAT Team raid. Read more here.

At Euromoney, Helen Avery reports that the settlement system for the US Government bond market has broken down.

And,at the Market Oracle, Martin Weiss says, “America’s Second Great Depression has started.”

Right now, our country’s finances have deteriorated too far to balance the federal budget anytime soon. But it’s not too late to avoid some major financial blunders that could seriously weaken our country for the rest of the century. Even in the worst-case scenario, it is certainly not too late for you to protect your savings, boost your income and grow your wealth.

How long could the depression last? How much further can home prices fall? How far down will the stock market go? Will it be as bad as the 1930s? At this juncture, you can count on your fingers the number of serious analysts who believe that’s even a remote possibility. And yet, stranger things have already happened, including the largest bank and insurance company collapses of all time.

And, on a lighter note, Sparty claims that Chris Petersen will be named head coach at Mississippi State, right after today’s SEC Championship game, even though Petersen and everyone else denies it. I hope Sparty’s right.

Also, South Panola’s 89 game win streak is snapped by Meridian in the 5A Championship game. Yes Virgina, Meridian’s All-State QB Tyler Russell is headed to Mississippi State! C’mon Chris Petersen.

Finally, GN Magazine has “Surprising Truths” you may not know about the Nativity story.

Europe or Eurabia?

Daniel Pipes says,

“I foresee potentially one of three paths for Europe: Muslims dominating, Muslims rejected, or harmonious integration.”

Great read.

Weekend Smorgasbord

Starting with the Morphing Kitties,

Wouldn’t you have loved to be a fly on the wall during this conversation?

LESTER HOLT: Before we talk about what was behind your endorsement of Obama, I’ve got to ask you about the phone call you had to make on Thursday to Senator Clinton. You’re friends with the Clintons, you worked for Bill Clinton in his administration. What was the phone call like?

BILL RICHARDSON: Well [chortling], I’ve had better phone calls. I talked to Senator Clinton about 9 o’clock, and I told her, and, you know, she was, she was disappointed. It was a little bit heated. [ed: I’ll bet!]

Bill Clinton had told his wife’s campaign that he had received several assurances from Richardson that the governor would not endorse Obama.

In endorsing Obama, Richardson was not only taking sides in the most bitter of political fights, but rejecting the candidacy of a close friend.

“There’s something special, there’s something special about this guy,” Richardson said of Obama. “I’ve been trying to figure it out, but it’s very good.”

[ed: Don’t feel bad, Governor. Obama makes the best speech about nothing that has ever been made. That you can’t figure out what it is that you like about him puts you in the company of the majority of Democrat voters. Of course, you might just be campaigning for the veep spot. Heh.]

The continuing attack on Christianity, liberty, and the institutions of democracy from the convergence of the radical left, and muslim mufsidun:

Gadaffi says the Bible is a fraud

Gadaffi was speaking to a large crowd at Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium in Kampala after leading the Thuhur (afternoon) prayer, where he said any Bible and Torah (Old Testament) that does not mention the Prophet Mohammed was written by mankind and therefore a fraud.

“The Bible we have now is not the one that was revealed to Issa (Jesus) and the Old Testament is not the one that was revealed to Musa (Moses). Muhammad is mentioned in both (original versions), but the Tora and Bible we have now, there is no mention of him,” the Libyan head of state said.

Canada orders Christian ministry shut down

The Canadian government has ordered a Christian ministry that teaches doctrine and the differences between Christians and cults shut down because its reference materials were “critical” of the beliefs of those who are not Christian…

So what used to be called MacGregor Ministries with offerings in how to recognize and eliminate “faulty fads” in Christian churches has been re-created in the United States, and now operates under the name MM Outreach Media Ministries.

Jeff Head weighs in on Black Liberation Theology

“Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community … Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.”

EurabiaWatch: Taking Christ out of Christianity

That triumphal barnburner of an Easter hymn, Jesus Christ Has Risen Today – Hallelujah, this morning will rock the walls of Toronto’s West Hill United Church as it will in most Christian churches across the country.

But at West Hill on the faith’s holiest day, it will be done with a huge difference. The words “Jesus Christ” will be excised from what the congregation sings and replaced with “Glorious hope.”

Thus, it will be hope that is declared to be resurrected – an expression of renewal of optimism and the human spirit – but not Jesus, contrary to Christianity’s central tenet about the return to life on Easter morning of the crucified divine son of God.

Obama: Religious right has “hijacked” the faith

In a 30-minute speech before the national meeting of the United Church of Christ, which supports gay marriage, the Democratic presidential candidate said, “Faith got hijacked, partly because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right, all too eager to exploit what divides us.” Obama said, “They’ve told Evangelical Christians that Democrats disrespect their values and dislike their church, while suggesting to the rest of the country that religious Americans care only about issues like abortion and gay marriage, school prayer and intelligent design.” Obama said a growing number of evangelicals are concerned about poverty and the environment.

Is Obama “American” enough?

…the uproar over Reverend Wright “has legs.” The consensus among the panelists was that Obama might have stanched the bleeding among Democratic primary voters but that the issue will continue to dog him in a more virulent form with questions about where his true loyalties lie. Is he American enough?

Not to be out-flanked on the left, McCain advisor Larry Eagleburger lashes out at the Religious right.

And finally, this video sums up Senator Gravitas perfectly…

A muslim state in Europe

Kosovo seceded from Serbia yesterday.

The new country was recognized by the US and the EU today.

Paris was first to announce its move after a European Union foreign ministers’ meeting in Brussels, and Britain, Germany and Italy followed immediately.

Then Washington said the words Kosovo’s 2 million Albanians have long dreamed of.

“The United States has today formally recognized Kosovo as a sovereign and independent state. We congratulate the people of Kosovo on this historic occasion,”Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said in a statement.

The EU appealed for calm after Serbian protesters stoned Western embassies in Belgrade on Sunday night …

….. A new, independent muslim state in Europe ….

The line of the day comes from French Foreign Minister Kouchner, “It’s the end of the Balkan troubles.”

In my humble opinion, the “Balkan troubles” have just now begun in earnest. The smartest guys in DC, Paris London, Rome, Berlin, and across Europe are saying this is a great day. The rest of us are shaking our heads in disbelief.

When the Paris suburbs decide to secede from France, I wonder if Kouchner, et al will maintain a consistent position.

Muslim “yoots” riot in France (again)

Somebody might want to make a quick search to verify this, but flash-back to 2005, and nothing that the yoots did in the French rioting merited coverage by the MSM. If you got your news from anywhere but the right-of-center blogosphere, then there’s a good chance that you didn’t even know about it.

Compare that to the present situation involving the yoots, and the MSM is all over the story.

Anyone want to bet that it has to do with the fact that Sarkozy is a conservative?

Eight people were arrested and 21 police officers were injured — including the town’s police chief who was beaten in the face after he tried to negotiate with the rioters, a police official said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. Foxnews.com

Interestingly enough, even Fox News did not mention the fact that the yoots are muslims.

[That is because islam is a religion of peace, and the rioters who have been quoted chanting “allah ahkbar” have nothing to do with islam.]

Get it? Got it?  Goooooood.

The two-headed threat

Is there anyone left who fails to understand the nature of the jihadist threat facing this country? Anyone other than the leadership of the democrat party, and their allies in the MSM, and supporters of Ron Paul, that is?

I present two separate perspectives for your consideration. First is an analysis from Family Security Matters on the immediate threat posed by infiltrators, and the cover given to them by an American Fifth Column.

The second focuses more on the long-term threat, generational, and demographical in its nature.

Our country is facing what I consider to be the “perfect storm.”

We have a powerful foe in radical Islamofascists who want to destroy our country. They want to eliminate our constitutional Republic, replacing it with a government run under the totalitarian tenets of Sharia Law. And as they prey on the good will of the American people, extracting money under the guise of charity for the oppressed, they have mastered the American legal system and are effectively using it against us, even as they establish enclaves of radical ideology within the borders of the United States.

We have another foe in the American Fifth Column, a group of visionless lemmings adherent to the Marxist/Leninist dictums of Socialism, who promote political correctness and multiculturalism. This group champions a mythical one-world utopia over the principles of self-sufficiency, liberty and personal freedom. They promote a caretaker government that provides as many entitlements and services as can be established through the extraction of private income while empowering that same government as the arbiter of all societal parameters regardless of the liberties granted to us under the United States Constitution.

Lastly, we have an American citizenry, who, because institutionalized education has moved away from instilling critical thinking skills in deference to special interest indoctrination, doesn’t understand the ideology behind the principles that founded our nation. Couple this with the fact that our society has grown to be incredibly narcissistic, and you achieve a populace so apathetic and unaware of the critical events taking place directly in front of their faces – in real time – that their freedoms will have already been abolished before they are motivated to defend them.

Next from Middle East Quarterly, Should Muslims Integrate into the West?

because Islamist jurists in the Arab world have considerable resources, they at times drown out or wear down more pro-assimilation voices. The collision between Western interpretations of personal freedom and some Islamist interpretations of Muslims’ rights and duties is inevitable. For mainstream Muslim jurists, Islam trumps all aspects of human activities.

Herein lays the challenge. Many ethnic and religious minorities seek to establish an autonomous sphere within multicultural societies, but only Arab Muslim jurists consider such an autonomous sphere to constitute a substitute for the liberal state itself. Many ethnic and religious minorities attempt to speak for their countries of origin through the political systems of their adopted countries, but only Arab Muslim jurists regard their Muslim nation as overstretching the boundaries of all nation-states in its political demands.

How then should liberal nation-states, using the principals of liberalism and multiculturalism as their shield, deal with individuals who resist their very existence? How can Western societies distinguish between those Muslims who seek a place for their beliefs and traditions within a pluralistic framework and those who adhere to a school committed to the destruction of that framework? Perhaps a good point of departure would be to understand that it is not veils that matter, but the individuals and ideas that are behind them.
