NTTIAWWI–Actually, TIAWWI

So the black robed tyrants have once again proven that they have a different copy of the U.S. Constitution than the rest of us and that we still must view them as the final arbiter on the law.

Not only have you never heard me mutter nttiawwi(not that there is anything wrong with it), you never will and I am far from alone on this.

The AG of Texas, Ken Paxton, issued a statement concerning the latest miscarriage of justice by the SCOTUS. A link to his full opinion can be found HERE in pdf form.
His summary is as follows:

County clerks and their employees retain religious freedoms that may provide accommodation of their religious objections to issuing same-sex marriage licenses. Justices of the peace and judges also may claim that the government forcing them to conduct same-sex wedding ceremonies over their religious objections, particularly when other authorized individuals have no objection to conducting such ceremonies, is not the least restrictive means of furthering any compelling governmental interest in ensuring that such ceremonies occur. Importantly, the strength of any particular religious accommodation claim depends on the particular facts of each case.

AG Paxton also stated that the various officials that refuse to issue marriage licenses to homosexual couples may face legal issues and that his office will assist them, as well as “numerous lawyers” who stand ready to defend them pro bono. Certainly NWWT, IMHO.

In Alabama, Senate Bill 377 passed by a 22-3 vote and has now moved to the House. SB377 “would end state issued marriage licenses, while providing marriage contracts as an alternative.”

This is just the latest outrage perpetrated on this once great nation, the list is long. It is past time to fight the left, it’s time to Alinsky the left.

Sultan Knish has some excellent ideas on that subject which can be found HERE, along with this wonderful image.

rebel

It is also necessary to continue to repeat that homosexuals represent a tiny percentage of the population, according to the Center for Disease Control’s National Health Interview Survey(pdf HERE), 1.6% of the population. It isn’t possible for that small a group, even if all of them were activists, to cause such a stir. It requires the concerted efforts by the leftists in this country to rip and tear away the fabric of our society by toppling the foundation upon which is built.

I will fight this agenda in any way I can. I will continue to mock and shun those who practice or support the practitioners of deviant sex.

They have the God given rights we all have and nothing more.

Wisconsin Burning

If you follow current events, the John Doe investigations in Wisconsin may ring a familiar note, and likely it is something that you are familiar with by name and vague generalities only.  I was aware that that Governor Scott Walker had been investigated for campaign illegalities and had been exonerated, and that the investigation was given the name “John Doe” because the names of possible co-conspirators were unknown.

democratic-party-wisconsinBut, reading David French’s excellent reporting at National Review left me completely stunned.  And now, I am left with a feeling of anger and disillusion, as well as an uncomfortable sense of familiarity with times and events long ago.  French describes this activity by the Democrat Party as “lawfare.”

a process whereby rogue regimes or organizations abuse legal doctrines and processes to accomplish through sheer harassment and attrition what can’t be accomplished through legitimate diplomatic means.

It is hardly a new concept.  The very same Democrat Party used these tactics over 50 years ago in my home state of Mississippi.  The primary enforcers of Party doctrine in those days was the Ku Klux Klan.  The victims were Black Americans who wanted nothing more than to exercise their First Amendment rights, and to participate in the political process and vote.  In turn, they were subjected to harassment, intimidation, and much, much worse.  It didn’t end with a kumbaya moment of clarity on the part of the Democrats-In-Charge.  No, it ended with the exposure of the criminal activity, arousal of public opinion, and by the direct intervention of the FBI.

In Wisconsin, the victims were Tea Party conservatives who wanted nothing more than to exercise their first Amendment rights, and to participate in the political process.  In turn, they were harassed, intimidated, and threatened with jail if they even spoke about the investigation.  Personal property was illegally seized.  Raids on conservative families were conducted by local Police in the dead of night.  The enforcer of Party doctrine was the Wisconsin Judiciary, who rubber-stamped every subpoena and warrant requested by a Democrat District Attorney in this modern day witch hunt.

Until this moment, there has been no exposure of the criminal partisan activity in Wisconsin.  There has been no opportunity to arouse public opinion.  The secrecy surrounding the John Doe Investigations has been all-encompassing, allowing for only the barest of details to emerge – selectively leaked by the DA.  Appeals are currently pending in both the Wisconsin Supreme Court, and the US Supreme Court.  The Department of Justice is absent, complicit by its silence.  No intervention by the FBI is forthcoming.

Now, we are awake.  And we are watching.

Healthcare.gov: the latest excuse, oh my!

g-cvr-131107-obama-todd-545p.grid-3x2Isn’t it interesting how this latest excuse for the mal-performance of healthcare.gov fits so nicely with President Obama’s “burned by a website” expression of regret last night on NBC?

Could they be related? Nah… just a coincidence…. heh™

Researchers have uncovered software available on the Internet designed to overload the struggling Healthcare.gov website with more traffic than it can handle.
“ObamaCare is an affront to the Constitutional rights of the people,” a screenshot from the tool, which was acquired by researchers at Arbor Networks, declares. “We HAVE the right to CIVIL disobedience!”

One of the commenters on the source article has sherlocked his way to deducing that the source of the attack is from “someone older.”

Gingrich: “I can no longer endorse Gregg Harper”

Conservative Blogging Legend, Nuke Gingrich has concluded that 3-term Congressman, Gregg Harper no longer deserves the endorsement and support of common-sense conservative voters in the MS-3rd district.

“He hasn’t accomplished anything, he hasn’t done anything, and given the opportunity to make a principled stand, he caved faster than a spelunker on meth,” said Gingrich, amid fragrant clouds of Macanudo smoke at his southwest Mississippi compound.

“I should have recognized the bait and switch when Harper gained the support of the slimy Trent Lott.  I suppose I’m the victim of my own optimism.  But no more.  Now that Harper has shown himself to be an insider-Trent Lott Republican instead of a Common-Sense Conservative, I have decided that I can no longer  support him.”

gregg-harper-ms3Gingrich’s endorsement in the 2008 Republican Primary was seen by some as a pivotal moment for the Harper campaign, as polls which had been trending for his opponent, shifted dramatically and decisively in Harper’s favor.  He won going away.  It was an old fashioned whoopin’.

“I questioned Harper’s vote last week to end the battle against Obamacare, and politely asked for a response.  To date, Harper has refused to provide any answer at all, other than to send out a Press release, chock-full of fluffy piffle.”

Gingrich has provided the Blog with a copy of the note he sent to the Congressman in response to Harper’s “explanation” for the surrender vote, entitled “A Responsibility to Govern.”

October 17, 2013

Dear Congressman Harper:

Please tell me.

Did you read the Bill before you voted for it?

I understand it was an eleventh hour vote responding to a real or imagined crisis (this seems to have become the standard operating procedure, hasn’t it?).

Did you question the special $2.9 billion sweet deal for Kentucky?

Wouldn’t it have been appropriate to offer a clean, two-day CR to allow the Bill to be read by the Members, and posted to the internet as has been promised previously?

A Responsibility to Govern, indeed!

Sincerely,

Nuke Gingrich

CharlierossInterestingly enough, Gingrich’s old nemesis, The Club for Growth is making a splashy re-entry into Mississippi politics for the first time since 2008.  The CfG has endorsed a Primary challenger to veteran senator Thad Cochran.  Losing Gingrich’s support may provide an opening for the other recent favorite of The Club for Growth, Charlie Ross.   “I may have to go reconsider my position on CfG,” Gingrich painfully noted.

What Is A Police State?

Guest post, by Rodney Lee Conover:   Your ex-girfriend may have a nuclear device

.

I hear a lot of people complaining that the Obama Administration is leading us down a path where one day we will be living in a police state.

I ask you this:  What do you consider “a police state?”  Does it mean residing a place where authorities are standing in your living room, watching everything you do and waiting to place you in shackles if you violate any new “thought police” statutes?  Is it like the old Soviet Union or the current North Korean regime?  What?

While you’re thinking about that, let me tell you where you live right now:  You live in a country where the Federal government can (notice I didn’t say “does” or “might” or “will”) can listen to every phone call you make, read every email you send or receive and track your movements once you step outside your home.  They can access your IRS information on how much you make, where you make it and your perceived intentions regarding tax-relation activity.  Soon they will have all your medical records and can see what you’ve been treated for and what type of doctor you’ve been to.  And they can do that without your permission…

jimclapperliarI’m not saying they are doing it. I’m merely pointing out that they can. And they now have been dragged kicking and screaming into admitting it in public, with the exception of a few lies in front of Congress by the head of the NSA, James Clapper (currently the Director of National Intelligence).  My question to you is simple:  What is a police state?

If for whatever reason, the Federal government decides you are someone of interest, they can, without any concern for your Fourth Amendment rights, investigate all forms of your communication, Facebook postings, Google searches, cell phone conversations, whatever.  And if they hear the right buzzwords (they decide the buzzwords) they can do the same to your friends, relatives, enemies, acquaintances, Facebook pals, whoever.

You know what I hear less and less of lately? That Snowden is a traitor. And for good reason.

I’ve been told over and over again that the NSA doesn’t spy on Americans.  Then they were, but they won’t.  Then they would but they couldn’t.  Then they did but they won’t anymore.  Now they just do.  This is about political power, not catching terrorists.  Grow up.  There is no time in this country’s history where the government has been given power and they didn’t abuse it.  It’s the nature of power and this is no different.  Need more?

A British newspaper, The Telegraph, is reporting that NSA staff has been using their technology designed to catch terrorists to spy on their lovers, past and present.  Yes, there’s nothing like keeping a watchful eye and ear on your ex, just in case they’ve decided to set off that nuclear device they’ve been building in the spare bedroom. The folks who swear they won’t abuse their power or use it in any way to further their careers or help a politician or oppress a fellow American in any way, are keeping tabs on what their love interests are up to.  Their phone calls, emails, Internet activity, searches and who knows what else.  I’m serious – who knows what else? Raise your hand if you think they haven’t been downloading Snowden’s hot girlfriend’s every email, photo, conversation and who knows what else?

spyingeverywhereI heard Dana Perino – someone I highly respect and admire – say that with all the intelligence they gather, the NSA is of course going to gather some information by mistake along the way.  But this is not an innocent slip-up. This is the deliberate abuse of power and denial of civil liberties guaranteed under the Constitution to their victims and all of us.  These weasels did not break the rules – they broke the law.

Until they are rooted out and held accountable, the NSA should not be in charge of anything.  The NSA is not about terrorism or spying, it is about gathering information for coercion, oppression and political extortion.  Raise your hand if you think every bit of information on President Obama’s enemies and potential adversaries are not being organized for use by the usual suspects – Axelrod, Valerie Jarrett, Plouffe – all of ‘em.  Go look up the Cloward–Piven strategy and get back to me if you don’t believe it.

What is a police state?

paul_lee_cruzI just hope that Senators Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, and Rand Paul haven’t searched anything online that can be used against them in 2016 because it will be.  I hope none of their relatives, co-workers or friends have done any research or looked at any subject that will allow CNN, the NY Times, MSNBC, CBS, The Washington Post and all the others to scream the headline; “REPUBLICAN NOMINEE’S UNCLE GOOGLE’S TOPLESS ACTRESS !”  Don’t worry; I’m getting to Hillary…

I’m not exaggerating. It’s so easy now – before you had to sneak into or know somebody at the FBI willing to give you 900 confidential files of Republicans, and then explain how they got in your sitting room with your fingerprints on them.  Or you had to be married to the President and the whole thing goes away – but still it was a lot tougher then.  Now you just Instant Message your buddy at the NSA; they stop listening to their ex-girlfriend talking to that guy she met at the gas station long enough to upload enough info on anybody to find something that can be twisted into a scandal.  Or maybe you need to intimidate, say, a Supreme Court Justice into rewriting ObamaCare so it somehow seems Constitutional?…”Just say it’s a tax or something.  What can they do – you’re a frickin’ Supreme Court Judge for life, baby!”…  Just being hypothetical there.

Here’s what we know:

  • Clapper lied to Congress, nothing happens
  • The NSA says they have broken privacy “rules” 3,000 times in the past 12 months or so nothing happens
  • Again, these are not rules; they are laws that were broken
  • The law states these violations are felonies which call for up to $250,000 in fines and five years in prison for each violation No one has been charged

This is what we know. Imagine what we don’t know? If this isn’t a police state, what is?  Twenty words or less.  Thanks.

9/11/2013: This is the start. Count me in!

Reblogged from Karl Denniger’s excellent essay at The Market Ticker

I keep getting emails that are of the general form “you ought to run for office.

And I keep saying No.

Why?

Because when it comes to fundamental liberty interests there are two facts that nobody wants to talk about — but are inescapably true.

  • Free people need no “leader”; the very premise of unalienable rights precludes one, for the most part.
  • If you need someone to lead you to do the right thing you don’t deserve the fruits of doing the right thing.

This much is clear — the NSA isn’t going to stop their crap until and unless the people demand it and start holding government — and the private businesses that make what they do possible — accountable.

It has been proved that the people will not vote out of office even those who are known to have committed outrageous acts even when it happens days in front of an election.  I point to 2008 as the prime example of exactly this fact.

We all should be able to walk into a doctor’s or dentist’s office and plunk down $100, see said dentist or doctor, and have no record of anything transmitted to or kept by anyone other than us.  Today, this is impossible.

We should all have the 4th Amendment right to be secure in our papers, effects and lives, including electronic transmissions, until and unless there is a warrant issued detailing a specific alleged offense and identifying the specific items to be searched for or seized.  This includes our emails, it includes our phone calls, text messages and the location data generated as a necessity to provide us with mobile services, which we did not consent to be used for any purpose other than providing those services.  It includes no “automatic license plate readers” on cop cars, light poles and similar.  This is what The Constitution says; it is not a suggestion.

And we should all have every single law enforcement officer, who work for us and are paid for by us, have at all times a video and audio recording device on and working while they are on the job and the lack of any said record, any delay in turning over such a record, or any evidence of editing or tapering thereof with said record shall be cause for dismissal with prejudice of any charge brought by or through any act of said person irrespective of any other evidence, with one exception — if the suspect is the one who caused the record to be tampered with or destroyed.  We have two shining examples right here in NW Florida, one of a county Sheriff’s office that thinks shooting innocent people and breaking into homes without probable cause is just fine and a second city police department that appears to think that outrageous acts up to and including sexual assault, extortion and intentionally ramming a citizens car by sworn members of the force are ok as well.

All of these reforms we can have right now.

But none of it we will have until and unless we demand it and further, the only peaceful means we have of demanding it is to withdraw our consent and support of each and every business enterprise that makes possible the violation of our rights until and unless they stop it and stand against it.

In short, we either threaten to and do destroy through peaceful and lawful means — the simple act of refusing to spend money — every single firm that does not stand with us or we deserve what we get as a society, and all who claim to me that someone should come and “save them” are going to see me erect the middle finger in response.

So here’s the challenge.

On 9/11/2013 if you run an Internet site you go dark.

If you use the Internet you go dark.

And whatever you were going to buy, whatever you were going to do on 9/11/2013, you do not do on 9/10, 9/12, or at any other time.

You get your friends to do it, or you decide they’re not your friends any more.

You get your business associates to it, or they’re not your business associates any more.

If just 10% of the people in this nation will demand and enforce these changes, they will happen.  They will happen because if they don’t and we demand and enforce that demand via peaceful, non-violent economic means we will destroy the businesses that have over-levered themselves under the premise that we are sheep and will not act in such a fashion.

On 9/11/2013, I will display this — and only this — on both The Market Ticker and Tickerforum.

 by genesis

And then I will look at the results to see who also does this, and who not only unplugs themselves during that day but in addition does not simply shift their activity to the surrounding days.

I will know whether the claims that people “did” do it are crap or not from Internet traffic data that is collected in real-time by a number of firms and I will confirm it via 3rd Quarter earnings reports where I will look critically at the revenue numbers from all of the major retailers with Internet components in the United States, including but not limited to Amazon.

There will either be at least a 1% q/o/q decline on US revenues, or there will not.

And if the lawmakers do not respond, then in October it will be two days instead of one.  In November it will be three days, spanning Thanksgiving — yes, intended to screw “Black Friday”, and we will add to it no Internet purchases of any sort for holiday shopping.

And again, I will measure and see whether any material percentage of the people will get behind this.

From this data, preliminary and ongoing, I will decide exactly how far I will personally go in unplugging and walking off.  I will decide whether it is worth continuing to put forward effort in this regard — or not.

It’s time for me to throw down the gauntlet.

You either believe in what America was founded on, or you do not.

To paraphrase the band “Rush”:

If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice, and “no action”, in my opinion, answers the above question as NOT.

Domestic surveillance: It’s worse than you think

By Philip Bump, writing at The Atlantic Wire

Michele Catalano was looking for information online about pressure cookers. Her husband, in the same time frame, was Googling backpacks. Wednesday morning, six men from a joint terrorism task force showed up at their house to see if they were terrorists. Which prompts the question: How’d the government know what they were Googling?

Catalano (who is a professional writer) describes the tension of that visit.

michele-catalano-pj-media[T]hey were peppering my husband with questions. Where is he from? Where are his parents from? They asked about me, where was I, where do I work, where do my parents live. Do you have any bombs, they asked. Do you own a pressure cooker? My husband said no, but we have a rice cooker. Can you make a bomb with that? My husband said no, my wife uses it to make quinoa. What the hell is quinoa, they asked. …

Have you ever looked up how to make a pressure cooker bomb? My husband, ever the oppositional kind, asked them if they themselves weren’t curious as to how a pressure cooker bomb works, if they ever looked it up. Two of them admitted they did.

The men identified themselves as members of the “joint terrorism task force. ” The composition of such task forces depend on the region of the country, but, as we outlined after the Boston bombings, include a variety of federal agencies. Among them: the FBI and Homeland Security.

So, how did the government know what they were Googling?

Just a week ago, Congress voted down the Amash Amendment which would have reined in the NSA surveillance program.  As you probably know, the vote was extremely close.  My Congressman, Gregg Harper voted against it, and I’m none too happy about it.  What happened to the Catalanos could have happened to you, me, anyone.

Rep. Tom Cotton (R-AR), the newly announced GOP candidate for Senate,  also voted “No.”  Cotton described meta data as nothing more than a five column Excel spreadsheet.

“It’s in a lock box. It can’t even be searched,” he said. (emphasis mine-ed.)

A lock box?  Isn’t that what they said about Social Security?  They were wrong about that, and I suppose we see now that Tom’s conclusion was also wrong.  Bad wrong.

Enough is enough.

It’s high time to take back our status as free citizens of the Republic.

Stand up, America!

Steven Milloy’s Lawsuit vs the EPA

“Either the EPA has needlessly endangered the lives of uninformed participants in a worthless experiment or they have knowingly lied for years about the dangers of airborne particulate matter. In either case, the American people deserve answers and accountability.”

Scandalous. Shocking. It’s hard to find exactly the right description for the actions of the EPA, as outlined in the lawsuit filed by Steven Milloy

Writing at FrontPage.com, Arnold Ahlert says that EPA deliberately exposed human beings to “airborne particulate matter the agency itself considers lethal.”

“That EPA administrator Lisa Jackson permitted this heinous experimentation to occur under her watch shocks the conscience,” said Milloy.

As they say, read it all.

My Confederate Ancestors Were True ‘Freedom Fighters’

How far we have fallen as a nation in the past 150 years.

Contrary to what most historians and uninformed educators have told generation after generation about the reason for the “War Between The States,” it was not exclusively about ending slavery.

I am a descendant of people who fought in the American Revolution against the British for freedom and liberty, as well as being eligible to join ‘Sons of Confederate Veterans.’ My confederate ancestors didn’t own slaves and didn’t want to, what they wanted was to be left alone by a Federal government that was intruding on individual and states’ rights…they wanted the freedom and liberty that this nation originally intended for its citizens.

Just as freedom loving American citizens fought to create this nation, so did the Confederacy fight to preserve those worthy goals. In the end, the Federals prevailed and the slow steady demise of our individual freedoms and liberties have continued unabated.

I have often thought of the historical significance of the “War Between the States”(a.k.a. War Of Northern Aggression) from many different perspectives and even more so in recent years, with so much discussion of the 10th Amendment. My thoughts were refocused yesterday on just what the conflict 150 years ago means to us today.

I came across a fascinating article, The Last Trench. It is too long to post in its entirety here, but I highly recommend clicking on the link and reading it to the end. I found it highly thought provoking and I quote the author’s final thought in the article and am in complete agreement:

To each and every foe of freedom and liberty in the federal government, let this message soak to your miserable bones: Your threats, your mistreatment, your unceasing attempts at intimidation, your arrogant abuse and slander of all that is holy, your raw brutality upon the helpless, your vulgar use of armed might upon the weak, your shedding of innocent blood, your rushing to a new world order of old world tyranny, none of this will save you from the justice you so richly deserve. Understand — you miserable pestilence upon mankind — that we shall do our duty as our ancestors before us. Know that we realize that we are now in the last trench. So step forward! Come! Our Colours await you — you need but take them from us…

Blood, honour, soil, faith and folk. Know ye then, enemies of liberty, that the last trench insures eternal memory and glory to those who stand in it. While granting to those who attack it only a miserable empty death for filthy lucre’s sake.

Come now our enemies before us! Drink of this cup we have prepared for you! And as you in your brutish force move toward us — understand that while we are in the last trench — you are in your last moments. Victory or Death — Live free or Die!

God Bless America and Go To Hell all filthy tyrants and usurpers.

Medice, cura te ipsum!

Following an earlier Latin theme here, it simply states, “Physician, heal thyself!”

These words are contained in the following video, an excerpt from the end of the movie “State of the Union.” It’s an excellent summation of how shallow the electorate and the elected are, and a cautionary tale to the current office holders in our nations capitol.

There is a momentum to rid our nation of the selfish and self-serving politicians who have so callously undermined the people of this great nation, and their offspring, which we all need to continue to add too.

We The People are the physicians of this great nation, not those we elect, and it is far past time to remind them of it and to let the healing begin.

Peter Welch (D-VT)

Peter Welch (D-VT)

Charlie’s “angels” on the House Ethics Committee include Congressmen Ben Chandler of Kentucky, G.K. Butterfield of North Carolina and Peter Welch of Vermont. All three have received campaign donations from Charlie Rangel.

CBS asked Rangel’s office “whether the congressman thought members receiving donations from him should step aside and let others rule on the ethics charges.”

A great question! From CBS, even.

Although Rangel refused to comment on this specific question, let us hope that CBS will continue to press for an answer. Apparently, the congressman’s earlier response, a thinly veiled insult to the intelligence of the press is his unspoken response to the current question.

“I recognize that all of you have an obligation to ask questions knowing that there’s none of you smart enough to frame it in such a way that I’m going to respond,” Rangel said.

Drain that swamp, baby!

Update:  WaPo calls for Rangel to step down from chairmanship.  “Sorry Charlie”

Another nominee, another tax scofflaw

This time, it’s former Dallas mayor Ron Kirk, Obama’s nominee for Trade Representative.

The Senate Finance Committee on Monday revealed that President Barack Obama’s nominee for U.S. Trade Representative, Ron Kirk, had failed to pay $10,000 in taxes over the span of three years beginning in 2005. The panel report comes after several other nominees faced controversy over tax issues.

Kirk, a former Dallas mayor, failed to report as income $37,750 in honoraria collected for 16 speaking engagements at Austin College, his alma mater, for 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. He also deducted NBA Mavericks tickets worth $17,382 as entertainment expenses in 2006, 2006 and 2007, but has substantiated only $9,900 of the expenses.

What is it with these people?
Why can’t Obama  find some law-abiding people to serve in his administration?
How many is this now?  I’ve lost count.  But, maybe that’s the point.  The shock value of the President hiring tax cheaters has diminished with each passing revelation.
Shame.

Zelaya stole millions from central bank

from The Washington Times:

Honduran officials are investigating allegations that President Manuel Zelaya and his chief of staff stole millions of dollars from the central bank before the military ousted Mr. Zelaya last month, according to a senior Honduran official, government documents and other evidence.

A security video from the Central Bank of Honduras made available to The Washington Times shows officials entering the bank June 24 and withdrawing large amounts of Honduran currency. The money was driven to the office of Mr. Zelaya’s chief of staff, Enrique Flores Lanza, according to depositions by three witnesses to Honduran prosecutors.

Government documents and testimony by the three say that about $2.2 million was taken.

Perhaps this previously unreported video will provide President Obama with a face-saving way to reverse his support for Zelaya.

It is time for the United States Government to get on the side of the Honduran people in their attempt to restore democratic rule.

The Ad Liberals Don’t Want To See!

From The Freedom Post, this video is called the ad that is “driving liberals nuts.” I think they are being kind. To me, it is the ad that will make them even nuttier, if they see it.

The current administration likened to that of the Islamic Republic of Iran?
That’s going to leave a mark.
Like being smacked with a knotted plow line!

A Thank You Note To Honduras!

Dear Citizens of Honduras,
I wish to personally thank you for faithfully defending your nation’s constitution from a failed coup d’etat, by your now ousted President.
You have given all lovers of freedom and democratic principles, a shining example of how to recognize and defeat a determined enemy, and one who would become your dictator.

Good citizens of Honduras, you watched as ‘Mel’ ran a corrupt government, that hadn’t even submitted a fiscal budget for 2009, as demanded by your constitution. His attempts to bribe and confuse the mostly impoverished citizens did not go unnoticed, and you acted accordingly. In violation of your constitution, he attempted to hold an illegal referendum (which are prohibited within six months of a general election) in order to force the ‘cuarta urna’, or fourth ballot box, into the polling places for the November general election. This would have created a National Constituent Assembly, hand picked by Zelaya, which would have had the power to review and change the constitution, with the end result being ‘continuismo’ for Zelaya, just as his close associate Hugo Chavez has done.

People of Honduras, with your Attorney General, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), your military commanders, and the National Congress, you have demonstrated loyalty to the rule of law. As young as your constitution is, ratified in 1982, you have nurtured it despite the many hardships your citizens face in their daily lives.

I would also like to thank you for demonstrating, to those of us who will listen and pay attention, what a government and its citizens can and should do when its elected leaders behave unlawfully. You have given us hope that we could, when faced with a constitutional crisis, rise up and peacefully remove the president when his actions are repeatedly demonstrated as being unconstitutional.

Further thanks are extended for continuing to show support for your government’s actions in removing your president, despite the many world leaders opposition, as well as the ongoing propaganda being disseminated against you in the alleged main stream media. That CNN will cover your peaceful protests of thousands, in support of your governments actions, the only videos to be found are of the pro-Zelaya protests, small as they are.

While I don’t envy the uncertainty that you face right now, Honduras, you have given us all an excellent lesson in civics and hope, that with reasonable people, usurpers of authority and illegal acts will not be tolerated.
You have proven that there is change we can believe in.

With gratitude and respect,
a freedom loving American citizen.

‘Neda’:Her Execution…My Rant!

neda never forget
Sitting comfortably at home, in peace and security, I have been following events, as best as I can, of the struggle for freedom in Iran.
It wasn’t until this morning that I finally viewed the video of the last moments of this young woman, as she enters into her death throe, from a Basiji sniper bullet, ripping through her chest.

I haven’t been the same since.

I have to rant, and get through processing this crime and what it means to me, so that I can sleep tonight, and function tomorrow. Being Father’s Day, the thought of her father, holding her in the final moments of her short life, and living with that pain today, gnaw at me. At the same time, I am safe, and my children and grandchildren are all happy and healthy.

I’m not a stranger to the horrible things people can do to others, though I will never be able to fully comprehend it. I’ve seen people die, many times, from my most beloved, to complete strangers, and rather than get used to it, it is more of a piling on effect.

The execution of this young woman may become a turning point, for the future of Iran, if they are successful in removing the corrupt, vile, and wicked Mullahocracy that they have had to endure for the past thirty years. I not only want to believe that, I have to, or her death will be for no purpose, and I believe God has a purpose for us all.

Her name was Neda Salehi, she was twenty years of age, and her short life ended at 7:05p.m., 20 Jun 09, on Karekar Ave., Tehran, Iran. She was standing next to her father, peacefully holding a sign which simply said “freedom.”
According to a doctor who was at the scene, he had this to say:

A young woman who was standing aside with her father watching the protests was shot by a basij member hiding on the rooftop of a civilian house. He had clear shot at the girl and could not miss her. However, he aimed straight her heart. I am a doctor, so I rushed to try to save her. But the impact of the gunshot was so fierce that the bullet had blasted inside the victim’s chest, and she died in less than 2 minutes.
The protests were going on about 1 kilometers away in the main street and some of the protesting crowd were running from tear gass used among them, towards Salehi St. The film is shot by my friend who was standing beside me.

Neda, in Farsi, means “voice” or “the call.” Her name and image have gone international, as a symbol, a voice, a call to the Iranian people to not forget her and why she was murdered. The threat that Khamenei made in his sermon this past Friday has come true, and his actions and words may be the final statement the Iranians listen to. Khamenei has made a serious mistake that many egomaniacs have made, and that is to create the most dangerous enemy you can have.
People with nothing to lose, will risk everything they have.

Later that same evening, in east Tehran, the Basiji headquarters building was set ablaze. The protesters/rioters are becoming more emboldened, as they now only have two choices, end the regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran, or face a future with no hope for a better life.

The events of the past week are truly historic, and match or exceed the rioting that led to the IRI in 1979. This is no small matter, and if it continues, and spreads throughout the country, which appears to be happening, this hellish system of government will end. What it will be replaced with is a matter of conjecture, the first step is to rid Iran of the mullahs.

How would I react if someone murdered one of my daughters? I would give my life to gain retribution, and would not rest until the people responsible for this were dead or punished, or both, in alphabetical order or not. I can’t begin to imagine the fear and pain Neda’s family must be experiencing. Their lives have been shattered by a bullet fired from a hired thug, working for the mullahs. I have weapons and training, Mr. Salehi doesn’t, and that makes a significant difference in what his options are for seeking justice for his daughter.

As for the protesters, now that they know, with no reservations, that they can be killed on a whim, at any moment, I hope that they get more serious in their attacks, and start mobbing armed police and Basiji, taking their weapons and communications. Until the barrels of the guns are turned in the right direction, the Iranian people will never know freedom, or the dignity they deserve as humans.

I will close with a lovely poem written for Neda, that was sourced to me by a poster, “Ma Sands.”
Sister, have a short sleep. your last dream be sweet.

Yesterday I wrote a note, with the subject line “tomorrow is a great day perhaps tomorrow I’ll be killed.” I’m here to let you know I’m alive but my sister was killed…

I’m here to tell you my sister died while in her father’s hands
I’m here to tell you my sister had big dreams…
I’m here to tell you my sister who died was a decent person… and like me yearned for a day when her hair would be swept by the wind… and like me read “Forough” [Forough Farrokhzad]… and longed to live free and equal… and she longed to hold her head up and announce, “I’m Iranian”… and she longed to one day fall in love to a man with a shaggy hair… and she longed for a daughter to braid her hair and sing lullaby by her crib…

my sister died from not having life… my sister died as injustice has no end… my sister died since she loved life too much… and my sister died since she lovingly cared for people…

my loving sister, I wish you had closed your eyes when your time had come… the very end of your last glance burns my soul….

sister have a short sleep. your last dream be sweet.

neda

God be with you Neda. May the memory of your short life give strength to those who want freedom, just as you did.

*If any choose to, the following video is of the last fifteen seconds of Neda’s life.

*UPDATE*
From a NYTimes article, it is now believed her name was Neda Agha-Soltan, age 26.

Stop the Bailouts!

Question: “What would you do with $27.599?”

h/t Right.org

Hard to swallow

Today, the White House revised their numbers for the budget deficit to an eye-popping $1.8 Trillion, representing a quadrupling of last year’s record deficit.

I think this calls for a trip down memory lane, presented for your your consideration …

Remember Obama’s debate performance when he railed about the “orgy of spending” and the “enormous deficits?” Here is the quote …

“John, its been your President that you say you say you’ve agreed with 90% of the time, that presided over this increase in spending, this orgy of spending and enormous deficits and you voted for almost all of his budgets, so to stand here after 8 years and say you’re gonna lead on controlling spending…I think is kinda hard to swallow”

HAPundit has the video.

This level of government spending is unsustainable.

The Obama administration is the most radical and reckless in the history of the Republic. At this rate, it will also be the last administration in the history of the Republic.
