The Assault On Our Southern Border Wasn’t Spontaneous, It Was Planned

When I discovered how many ILLEGAL immigrants were flooding our border with Mexico and that they were primarily from Central American countries, I thought to myself…”now, wait a minute.”

My pause was directly attributed to my cynicism and my suspicions of the current criminal enterprise known as the Obama administration.

I just knew this entire fiasco was a classic example of the Cloward-Piven Strategy. Of course I couldn’t prove it, but one thing I learned from spending time on a farm was you didn’t need to see the dead rat in a barn to know there was a dead rat in the barn. The smell is confirmation enough.

Then my nose to the wind approach directed me to the blog Conservative Wife, where the author did some outstanding research and as her blog article indicates, our government initiated this mass invasion and was contracting for escorts/transport in late January.

I strongly encourage you to click on the Conservative Wife hyperlink above, she has posted the entire requirements for the procurement.

I also encourage you all to forward this to others, and as she said, ‘MAKE THIS GO VIRAL.’

Brian Terry: 1970-2010. A True American Hero

Our son didn’t have to die.

Authorized by the Terry Family

It has been nearly 19 months since our son, Brian Terry, was shot and killed by a Mexican drug cartel armed by a failed U.S. Department of Justice “gunwalking” operation known as “Fast and Furious.” Much has transpired during that time – especially in the last few months – regarding the investigation of Brian’s death. But not enough has been done, which is why we are writing to you today.

The pain that Brian’s death has caused our family is indescribable. No matter what words we use in this letter to you, we will never be able to justly convey how much suffering we have endured. We still grieve every day, and we are resigned to the fact that the agony of his death will stick with us for the rest of our lives. Not because he didn’t achieve his dreams . . . not because he didn’t live his life to the fullest . . . and not because he didn’t leave anything behind that we couldn’t celebrate or remember.

Our family will be forever grief-stricken because Brian didn’t have to die.

We wish we could take solace knowing that Brian died doing what he loved to do. After all, it was his childhood dream to make a career in law enforcement and become a federal agent.

Home defense under $400

Any of y’all have experience with this carbine? I’m thinking about getting me one.

Truth About Guns has a review of the .40 version. Here’s the money line:

The Kel-Tec Sub2K-40 is the perfect “companion” gun for .40-caliber Glocks, Beretta model 96, Sig-Sauer P226 and Smith & Wesson model 4006 40-cal pistols (whose mags match-up with the Kel-tec carbine). Just about everyone who shoots this handy little carbine for the first time loves it. Why wouldn’t they? It’s fun to shoot! Recoil is minimal while that 16.1-inch barrel assures phenomenal accuracy.

The gun’s light weight and fold-in-half portability make this carbine unique amongst its peer group. There’s nothing else like it on the market that can do the same things at the same affordable price. At $350-to-$375 retail with a lifetime warranty (to the original owner), you really can’t go wrong.

Napolitano on acid?

Janet Napolitano has made the claim that the southern border with Mexico is secure and that US  border towns are safe.  According to Napolitano, security “is better now than it ever has been.”

No kidding.  She really said that.

What a f’ing idiot.

Russian Shipping Container Missile System

A Russian weapons company is marketing a new missile system that is hidden inside an ordinary shipping container. It can turn a ship, train or truck into a long range missile launcher.

From the report by Justin Farmer…

…. A hidden cruise missile that can transform a shipping container into a missile launcher… A Russian weapons company is advertising it for sale to anyone who has the cash to pay for it. Channel Two Action News went to the Port of Savannah to find out how the feds are combating this potential threat. They did not even know about it, until Farmer told them.

The promotional video for the Club K Missile system is part of the marketing campaign by a private, Russian-based weapons manufacturer. The cruise missile system is hidden in a 40-foot shipping container. It can fire four long range satellite-guided missiles from a ship, train or tractor-trailer.

The Club K is being marketed at international weapons shows as a military weapon. In the hands of a terrorist group the container could easily be smuggled into the United states. It is so new most international security experts have never heard of it.

“To look at an entire weapons system that can be put on a cargo ship and deployed is frightening,” said Brent Brown an international security consultant, “It is a pretty devastating piece of technology that could have all kinds of collateral damage.”

Ruck Fussia!

Other than a friend of mine buying an old Moisin-Nagant as a cheap plinking gun, or another friend that collects old Makarov semi-auto pistols, I can think of no other positive contribution to come from the Fussian Federation/USSR.

The hordes of hackers that Fussia produces certainly aren’t a positive, nor is the current government, which presents the facade of a nation based on democratic principles, but is in fact still as murderous, oppressive and tyrannical as it has been since 1917.

Even with the loss of many former USSR states, which the Fussian Federation wants to reclaim, Fussia has the largest land mass of any nation. It also has a disturbingly low birth replacement rate, low life expectancy for males, a crumbling infrastructure(especially the health care system), rising HIV/AIDS infection rates, hostile relations with its neighbors and a minimally effective economy which is almost entirely reliant on the price of oil.

Fussia, since the fall of the old USSR, and particularly since the rise of proud KGB/FSB agent Vladimir(pronounced Vlad-eemer) Putin, the hostility toward the west has resumed unabated. Weaker than it was most of the twentieth century, Fussia began arming our enemies(such as Iran/Syria/Venezuela) and supplying some of them with nuclear technology, all the while giving lip service to their friendship with the West and Israel.

In the most recent example of Fussia’s hostility to the West, we learn of the recent arrest of eleven ten spies from Fussia. These aren’t the type of spies one typically thinks of as they weren’t assigned diplomatic duties, these spies were “illegals” without diplomatic immunity and some of whom were even recognized by Fussian Foreign Ministry officials as Fussian citizens.

TSA at Work: Michael Yon Arrested For Not Disclosing Income

From Hot Air.

Thank goodness our Homeland Security people are on the job after the EunuchBomber botched attack on Christmas Day.  We certainly don’t want to have independent war correspondents passing through our airports without revealing their annual income:

Got arrested at the Seattle airport for refusing to say how much money I make. (The uniformed ones say I was not “arrested”, but they definitely handcuffed me.) Their videos and audios should show that I was polite, but simply refused questions that had nothing to do with national security. Port authority police eventually came — they were professionals — and rescued me from the border bullies.

When they handcuffed me, I said that no country has ever treated me so badly. Not China. Not Vietnam. Not Afghanistan. Definitely not Singapore or India or Nepal or Germany, not Brunei, not Indonesia, or Malaysia, or Kuwait or Qatar or United Arab Emirates. No county has treated me with the disrespect can that can be expected from our border bullies.

Stadiums, Hotels warned on terrorist threat

from AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — Counterterrorism officials have issued security bulletins to police around the U.S. about terrorists’ desire to attack stadiums, entertainment complexes and hotels — the latest in a flurry of such internal warnings as investigators chase a possible bomb plot in Denver and New York.

In the two bulletins — sent to police departments Monday and obtained by The Associated Press — officials said they know of no specific plots against such sites, but urged law enforcement and private companies to be vigilant. These two bulletins followed on the heels of a similar warning about the vulnerabilities of mass transit systems.

The bulletin on stadiums notes that an al-Qaida training manual specifically lists “blasting and destroying the places of amusement, immorality, and sin… and attacking vital economic centers” as desired targets of the global terror network.

A joint statement from Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation said while the agencies “have no information regarding the timing, location or target of any planned attack, we believe it is prudent to raise the security awareness of our local law enforcement partners regarding the targets and tactics of previous terrorist activity.”

Officials noted the law enforcement bulletins are not intended for the public. Bulletins — particularly about hotels as possible targets — are common, and often don’t make news. However, a half-dozen alerts issued in the last week have received increased attention amid the current investigations in New York and Denver. The first of these, about hydrogen peroxide-based explosives, specifically referred to the investigation in New York.

Separately, law enforcement officials said a Colorado man may have been planning with others to detonate backpack bombs on New York City trains in a terrorism plot similar to past attacks on London’s and Madrid’s mass-transit systems.

Trans-Nationalists And Gun Hater Confirmed By Senate As Legal Advisor To The State Department

After months of delays by the GOP, this nominee was finally brought to the Senate floor for a vote, which passed 62-35.
There were five alleged Republicans that voted ‘yea’ in the confirmation of this ridiculous excuse for a legal adviser. Even though you already know who they are, I will list them.

Collins (R-ME), Yea/ Snowe (R-ME), Yea
Lugar (R-IN), Yea/ Voinovich (R-OH), Yea
Martinez (R-FL), Yea

Why am I being so unflattering to the newest addition to the bizarre current administration’s confirmation?
Here is a clue, from his own mouth:

“If you want to be in the global environment, you have to play by the global rules,” Koh told a Cleveland audience.

As one source described him:

Koh’s positions treat our constitutional law as if it were a mere local ordinance on the greater world stage. This is of particular concern to gun owners at a time when the U.S. Congress is under pressure from President Obama to ratify an international gun control treaty with countries in the western hemisphere. That treaty, known by its Spanish acronym CIFTA, would likely serve as a forerunner to a more extensive United Nations initiative, the “Program of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in all its Aspects.”

Another source describes him this way:

Former Clinton administration official Harold Koh, who has been dean of the Yale Law School since 2004, once wrote that the U.S. was part of an “axis of disobedience” with North Korea and Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Koh also has long held that the U.S. should accept international law when deliberating cases at home.

Obama nominated Koh on March 23 to become the State Department’s legal adviser — an appointment that, if confirmed by the Senate, will give Koh far-reaching influence over the extent to which international norms affect U.S. law.

“This is not a desk job. This guy will be the face of American international law around the world,” said Steven Gross, legal expert and fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation.

“The top legal adviser at State travels extensively and is involved in international legal negotiations, treaties and in major United Nations conferences.

“The president should have the right to choose the most conservative or liberal legal advisers to give them advice, but this is much more than that. The concern is that he cares as much about — if not more about — international law and integrating that into the American judicial system than he does about protecting American prerogatives and American sovereignty,” Gross said.

Koh, in an email to Yale Law, said this:

“I feel like I am setting sail on a thrilling new adventure,”

I suspect that thrill will be accompanied by a weird tingling sensation to the legs of certain members of the alleged progressive community.

Aside from his obvious support for internationalizing American law traditions, his ‘trans-nationalism’ is a direct threat to the sovereignty of our nation, which would effect every article of the Bill of Rights. Koh has said little to dissuade me, and others, that his perspective is not a danger to our Constitution.

On different occasions, Koh has stated the following:

In an article published in the Berkeley Journal of International Law in 2004, Koh wrote, “What role can transnational legal process play in affecting the behavior of several nations whose disobedience with international law has attracted global attention after September 11th — most prominently, North Korea, Iraq and our own country, the United States of America? For shorthand purposes, I will call these countries ‘the axis of disobedience.'”

In a Stanford Law Review article published in May 2003, Koh wrote that supporters of the International Criminal Court should bring pressure to bear on U.S. opinion “with an eye toward persuading U.S. officials that the ICC actually serves U.S. interests.”

“We should resist the claim that a War on Terror permits the commander in chief’s power to be expanded into a wanton power to act as torturer in chief,” Koh wrote in an article published in May 2006 in the Indiana Law Journal.

Koh also advocates a “transnational legal process” and has criticized the U.S. for its failure to “obey global norms.”

In a paper entitled “A world drowning in guns,” Koh maintains that a civil society cannot exist with broad gun ownership: “Guns kill civil society,” he said.

I know there will be some who praise his work as a legal scholar, and Dean of Yale Law, but to the majority of American citizens, who don’t give a Tinker’s Dam about what other countries in our hemisphere, or beyond, have to say about our Constitutional Republic, his perspectives reside in the koffee klatches of liberal academes, not the real world. That he supports subverting our Constitution to the whims of foreign courts is as absurd a notion as I’ve seen come down the pike.

As for the CIFTA, that was mentioned up above, I could provide a link to the formal treaty with its sophistic terminology, and let you muddle through it with glazed eyes, but I won’t do that to you.
Instead, here is an analysis of the treaty, which has been languishing away in dusty bins with other treacherous documents, by Gun Owners Of America.

Finally, under Article XXIX, if Mexico demands the extradition of a lawful American gun dealer, the U.S. would be required to resolve the dispute through “other means of peaceful settlement.” Does anyone want to risk sweltering in a Mexican jail at the mercy of the Obama administration?

There is also this excellent video by GOA, which explains nicely what the treaty could do.

We will have to wait and see if this lecherous individual will be as damaging to U.S. interests, as I and others fear.
For now we can only wait and see, and while waiting, fumigate our parties ‘big tent’ of such unworthy politicians, as the five who voted for this confirmation.

The Dhimwit Of The Month For May Goes To “24”

Jack-Bauer-Dhimwit

The Religion Of Peace, in keeping with its tradition of selecting the most deserving recipient for this dubious honor, didn’t have as difficult a time as in previous months.

They state, in their citation:

CAIR honchos no doubt cheered the seventh season finale, as Kiefer Sutherland’s character, uber-patriot Jack Bauer, was literally on his knees before Allah. Presumably dying of poison in the plot, the agent who once defended America from Islamic terrorism literally invites a local imam into his hospital room – of whom he can beg forgiveness and pray with in his “final moments.”
————–
With Jack Bauer’s deathbed “Shahada,” the producers may have finally jumped the Muslim shark. Let’s hope so. The series can hardly get any worse. Janeane Garofalo was actually cast as an FBI intelligence agent, which is wrong on many levels. (credibility-wise, it isn’t terribly clear how she managed to beat out Barney Rubble for the role).

Well said and written!
I gave up on “24” several years ago, not because it had “jumped the shark,” but because it jumped on and off frequently, in the same episodes. Honestly, how many times can terrorist escape a completely surrounded building?

In any event, after they took last year off, and returned for the 2009 season, I thought I would at least see if the show would be an improvement of the ridiculous product they had been foisting on viewers since the first season. It started out interesting, and then it happened. It was in the last half hour of the show, when, during a commercial break, a ‘PSA’ featuring the actress playing POTUS, came on and proceeded to proselytize about global warming. I immediately switched channels, never to return for the remainder of the season, but was informed by friends some of the additional nonsense that ensued, culminating with Jack calling for an imam on his (supposed) death bed.

A friend of mine had recorded it, and I had to see it for myself.
While they panned back, and you couldn’t hear what was said, it left me wondering if Jack did mutter the “shahada.”

So, I fully extend my congratulations to the cast and writers of “24” for their well deserved honor. It isn’t every year when such a clear message of dhimmitude is expressed by a prime time drama series.

The double standard

The Washington Times said it best … “It’s a sad day in America when the shooting of an abortion doctor stops the presses but no one notices two soldiers gunned down by an Islamist.”

In contrast to the flurry of Presidential and DOJ activity following the Tiller murder, there has been no reaction at all from the Obama White House regarding the Islamist attack at a Conway, Arkansas recruiting center.

Toby Harnden writing at the UK Telegraph notes this statement from Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

“The stories of two very different lives with similar fates crossed through the media’s hands yesterday – both equally important but one lacked the proper attention. The death of 67-year old George Tiller was unacceptable, but equally disgusting was another death that police believe was politically and religiously motivated as well.

“William Long died yesterday. The 23-year old Army Recruiter was gunned down by a fanatic; another fellow soldier was wounded in the ambush. The soldiers had just completed their basic training and were talking to potential recruits, just as my son, Track, once did.

“Whatever titles we give these murderers, both deserve our attention. Violence like that is no way to solve a political dispute nor a religious one. And the fanatics on all sides do great disservice when they confuse dissension with rage and death.”

Harnden asks, “Is there a double standard operating here?”

I suppose the question is rhetorical.

Houston toddler spent day at the mall

A mystery of sorts involving the 23 month old from Mexico who died in a Houston hospital has been solved.

“There is a three-and-a-half day gap no one is accounting for,” said Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos.  “We need to look at the possibility that he may have contracted this somewhere either en route to Houston or in Houston somewhere,” said Cascos.

San Antonio Express-News is reporting that  the “toddler who became the first swine-flu death on U.S. soil spent a day with his family shopping at a huge Houston indoor mall the day before he began to show symptoms.”

Update:

Houston Chronicle has the timeline

Here’s a timeline of the toddler’s whereabouts, according to Cascos.

April 3 – Child arrives with mother and three brothers at the Matamoros airport. The family crosses Gateway International Bridge to Brownsville, and stays with mother for two nights at Staybridge hotel in Brownsville.

April 5 – Family members, including an aunt, mother, and three brothers travel to Houston. According to Cascos, the aunt and mother had medical appointments there. The group eats out and goes shopping at the Galleria.

April 8 – Group returns to Brownsville, child falls ill

April 13 – Child admitted to Brownsville hospital, then to Texas Children’s the next day.

April 27 – Child dies in Houston.

Central New York high school student tests positive for swine flu

The Fabius-Pompey Central School District is closing Thursday and Friday as a precaution after a female high school student who recently traveled to Mexico tested positive for swine flu.

The student lives in Cortland County and is one of three possible human swine flu cases reported earlier this week by the Cortland Health Department.

A Cal State Long Beach student received a “probable positive” test result for swine flu.

The Long Beach Health Department informed the university of the affected student late Tuesday, and early Wednesday morning CSULB Beach President F. King Alexander sent a campus-wide e-mail with information about the student, symptoms of swine flu and a hotline for anyone to call if they have any questions specific to swine flu.

The student who may have been infected lived in the Los Alamitos residence hall. The roommate of the possibly infected student has been moved to a different room where he or she will remain until further notice.

Three probable swine flu cases in state, two in city (Milwaukee, WI)

Officials announced Wednesday evening at least two probable cases of swine flu have been identified in Milwaukee with a third case in Adams County in central Wisconsin.

In Milwaukee, officials said four city schools will be closed through the end of the week.

Suspected H1N1 Flu Case Reported at California Marine Base

The Marine Corps commandant today confirmed a suspected case of what the U.S. Homeland Security Council now is calling H1N1 flu, but has been known as “swine flu,” at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif.

A male Marine reported to a medical clinic on base over the weekend complaining of flu-like symptoms. Initial test results indicate the H1N1 virus, and the service is waiting for further results from testing at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Marine Corps Gen. James T. Conway said.

Maryland health officials identify 6 probable swine flu cases

Maryland health officials have identified six probable cases of swine flu in the state.

Three affected individuals reside in Baltimore County and three in Anne Arundel County.

Should swine flu get a new name?

The Paris-based World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) said the virus was not swine flu.

“The virus has not been isolated in animals to date. Therefore, it is not justified to name this disease swine flu,” the OIE said.

The virus “includes in its characteristics swine, avian and human virus components”, the OIE said, and urged that it be called “North American influenza”, after its geographic origin.

Today’s reader’s email at BBC continues to paint an increasingly bleak picture for our southern neighbors.

The number of cases increases significantly every day. The number of fatalities is also increasing. At least three doctors are said to have died from swine flu. There is great fear among the medical community. We know that the situation is very serious and that we are at high risk of infection.

But we are more scared of carrying it into our homes and infecting our loved ones. One of my colleagues that was exposed chose to stay in a hotel rather than run the risk of infecting her daughters.

These fears are getting worse as we realise that it is not possible to get antiviral drugs from pharmacies and that in the health sector they are close to being delivered in droppers.

Despite this, the government says that it can rely on antiviral drugs to treat a million cases. We do not have easy access to these, even though we are part of the health sector.

In one hospital doctors were given the anti-viral rimantadine, even though there is resistance to this drug. Also, fewer samples are being taken from severe cases, as there is a lack of means of transporting and cultivating the samples.
Dr Guadalupe from BBC

This could easily get much, much worse.

Paging Captain Trips

More from “have your say” at BBC

I am a doctor and I work in the State of Mexico. I don’t work in the shock team; I am in the echocardiography team, but I do get some news from my colleagues in the hospital. There have been some cases of young people dying from respiratory infections, but this happened before the alert and they were not reported because the necessary tests weren’t done. We doctors knew this was happening a week before the alert was issued and were told to get vaccinated. I went to buy some anti-virals for my husband, who is also a doctor, because he had contact with a young patient who presented influenza symptoms and died. I don’t think pharmacies stock enough anti-virals.

I understand the government doesn’t want to generate panic, but my personal opinion is that they issued the alert too late. Still now, the population is not getting the information they need. We have been out in the street and some people are not wearing face masks and are not taking any preventive measures.

M-O-O-N, that spells swine flu

More from BBC

I’m a specialist doctor in respiratory diseases and intensive care at the Mexican National Institute of Health. There is a severe emergency over the swine flu here. More and more patients are being admitted to the intensive care unit. Despite the heroic efforts of all staff (doctors, nurses, specialists, etc) patients continue to inevitably die. The truth is that anti-viral treatments and vaccines are not expected to have any effect, even at high doses. It is a great fear among the staff. The infection risk is very high among the doctors and health staff.

There is a sense of chaos in the other hospitals and we do not know what to do. Staff are starting to leave and many are opting to retire or apply for holidays. The truth is that mortality is even higher than what is being reported by the authorities, at least in the hospital where I work it. It is killing three to four patients daily, and it has been going on for more than three weeks. It is a shame and there is great fear here. Increasingly younger patients aged 20 to 30 years are dying before our helpless eyes and there is great sadness among health professionals here.”

WSJ: cyberspies penetrate US power grid

from Wall Street Journal:
Cyberspies have penetrated the U.S. electrical grid and left behind software programs that could be used to disrupt the system, according to current and former national-security officials.

The spies came from China, Russia and other countries, these officials said, and were believed to be on a mission to navigate the U.S. electrical system and its controls. The intruders haven’t sought to damage the power grid or other key infrastructure, but officials warned they could try during a crisis or war.

“The Chinese have attempted to map our infrastructure, such as the electrical grid,” said a senior intelligence official. “So have the Russians.”

The espionage appeared pervasive across the U.S. and doesn’t target a particular company or region, said a former Department of Homeland Security official. “There are intrusions, and they are growing,” the former official said, referring to electrical systems. “There were a lot last year.”

Many of the intrusions were detected not by the companies in charge of the infrastructure but by U.S. intelligence agencies, officials said. Intelligence officials worry about cyber attackers taking control of electrical facilities, a nuclear power plant or financial networks via the Internet.

Authorities investigating the intrusions have found software tools left behind that could be used to destroy infrastructure components, the senior intelligence official said. He added, “If we go to war with them, they will try to turn them on.”

Sen. Cornyn requests pardon for Ramos and Compean

A Plea to President Bush:

More than two years after they were sentenced, former Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean still sit in federal prison for their actions in attempting to apprehend a drug runner who was smuggling 743 pounds of marijuana valued at $1.2 million from Mexico into the United States.

To protect them from prison gangs eager to attack law enforcement officers, the Bureau of Prisons keeps the two agents separate from the general prison population. Today, Ramos and Compean sit in solitary cells in Phoenix, and Elkton, Ohio, respectively, hundreds of miles from their homes and families in Texas.

Because of the excesses of the prosecution against them, they will continue to sit alone in those cells for another decade. That is unless President Bush commutes their unjust sentences. In his remaining days as President, I ask President Bush to show mercy and use his clemency power to give back Agents Ramos and Compean the next 10 years of their lives.

Along with U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, I have written two letters to the President urging commutation—and have spoken publicly many more times on this injustice.

Law enforcement officers hold a special place in our society. Those with authority to investigate and incarcerate others possess enormous power. But, like their fellow citizens, law enforcement officers must be held accountable when they act outside the law—and must be treated no better and no worse if prosecuted for a crime. While a jury of their peers found that Ramos and Compean exceeded the authority entrusted to them, I have reached the conclusion as a Senator, a former judge, and a citizen, that the loss of their jobs and the prison time they have already served has been more than enough punishment.

Time is short, Mr. President. Please do the right thing. Free Ramos and Compean.

Calling it a “routine procedure,” TSA spokesman Elio Montenegro from Chicago explained to ABC News that a TSA inspector was simply trying to determine if airplanes on the tarmac could be broken into. Unfortunately for American Airlines, and the passengers who were scheduled to fly out of O’Hare Field on the nine damaged American Eagle planes, the inspector’s overnight inspection damaged “sensitive instrument probes.”

The TSA agent, as part of spot inspection of aircraft security, climbed onto the parked aircraft using control sensors mounted on the fuselage as handholds, according to a TSA official in Chicago, Elio Montenegro.

I feel so much safer now, don’t you?.

Al-Boraq Forum proposes poisoning European water systems

From Memri.org

On August 9, 2008 a member of the Islamist forum Al-Boraq proposed poisoning the water systems of major European cities. The forum member began his message by reminding “monotheists [i.e. Muslims] who yearn to support the Prophet” that Ramadan is coming, and explained that poisoning the water systems of major European cities is just one of many options – some of them “more powerful and more damaging” – but that his posting is meant to “prompt the mind [to generate] innovative [ideas].”

What’s in your emergency kit? Part 3

As Big Bertha spins in the Atlantic, the onset of the hurricane season is bringing up some uneasy memories for me of late August 2005. At a time that I believed I was fairly well prepared (and we were much better prepared than most), the fact remains that most of us are simply not ready for anything more than a temporary disruption of normality.

With that in mind, I ran across this post from a Georgia blogger named Darlene…

Top 100 Items to Disappear First During a National Emergency

1. Generators (Good ones cost dearly. Gas storage, risky. Noisy…target of thieves; maintenance etc.)
2. Water Filters/Purifiers
3. Portable Toilets

Yemeni man yells, “I have a bomb” on Amtrak train

Lock him up, and throw away the key, please.

… a 23-year-old Yemeni man named Basel Saleh Salem Kassem got into an argument with another man on the train and then yelled that he had a bomb.“Allegedly he was causing a disturbance on the train and the conductor attempted to move him to another part of the train, that’s when he said he had a bomb and the bomb was in his bag” says Emporia Police Chief Bernard Richardson.

Around 2am the bomb squad determined the threat was a hoax. The Yemeni man was taken into custody by the FBI and is facing a felony charge of making a threat on a public conveyance.

Approximately 300 passenger on the train were evacuated to an elementary school in Emporia, Virginia.
