The news ‘zipper’ on the fifth floor of the American Interest Section in the Cuban capital had riled the government for the past three years.

But it is now shut down amid the administration’s efforts to engage with Cuba’s leadership that has already seen some U.S. sanctions eased. Source

Zelaya stole millions from central bank

from The Washington Times:

Honduran officials are investigating allegations that President Manuel Zelaya and his chief of staff stole millions of dollars from the central bank before the military ousted Mr. Zelaya last month, according to a senior Honduran official, government documents and other evidence.

A security video from the Central Bank of Honduras made available to The Washington Times shows officials entering the bank June 24 and withdrawing large amounts of Honduran currency. The money was driven to the office of Mr. Zelaya’s chief of staff, Enrique Flores Lanza, according to depositions by three witnesses to Honduran prosecutors.

Government documents and testimony by the three say that about $2.2 million was taken.

Perhaps this previously unreported video will provide President Obama with a face-saving way to reverse his support for Zelaya.

It is time for the United States Government to get on the side of the Honduran people in their attempt to restore democratic rule.

Zelaya makes Diebold blush, Noriega jealous

from Babalu blog:

A Catalan newspaper is reporting that Honduran authorities have seized computers found in the Presidential Palace belonging to deposed president Mel Zelaya. Taking a page right out of the leftist dictator’s handbook, these computers, according to the news report, contained the official and certified results of the illegal constitutional referendum Zelaya wanted to conduct that never took place. The results of this fraudulent vote was tilted heavily in Zelaya’s favor, ensuring he could go ahead and illegally change the constitution so he could remain in power for as long as he wanted to. ACORN, I’m sure, is taking notes.

This is the man that the OAS, the UN, and the Obama State Department want the Honduran people to reinstall as their leader.

The United States government is on record, and on the wrong side.

Obama must withdraw his support for Zelaya.  Failure to do so is willful negligence, and worse than Jimmy Carter’s disgraceful support for Robert Mugabe in 1979.

And now, yet another leftover from the Carter years, Danny Noriega,  is attempting the same end run around the Nicaraguan constitution.  Same playbook.  The usual cast of characters.

We need a man to stand up in the Democrat administration.  Hillary, where are you?

Palin steps down

sara-winkSarah Palin steps down.  Nothing like grabbing control of the news cycle on a long holiday weekend.

Unless L’l Kim decides to launch a nuke against Hawaii or Japan, we’re going to hear about this for the next 72 hours.

Obama-care, Jack-o, Honduras, Iran, and the rest:  Move over to page 2.

You’ve just been ‘Cuda’d.

Zelaya accused of drug ties – money laundering

from Frank Bajak, AP

BOGOTA – The regime that ousted Manuel Zelaya in Honduras claimed Tuesday that the deposed president allowed tons of cocaine to be flown into the Central American country on its way to the United States.

“Every night, three or four Venezuelan-registered planes land without the permission of appropriate authorities and bring thousands of pounds … and packages of money that are the fruit of drug trafficking,” its foreign minister, Enrique Ortez, told CNN en Espanol.

“We have proof of all of this. Neighboring governments have it. The DEA has it,” he added.

U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration spokesman Rusty Payne in Washington said he could neither confirm nor deny a DEA investigation.

toon063009Wannabe dictator-for-life Manuel Zelaya is a criminal thug.  No wonder Hugo, Daniel, Fidel, and Preznit Obama all love him.  They’re peas in the same pod.

Pensieve says, the real coup is being plotted as we speak.

right now, an emergency meeting of the entire ALBA is taking place in Nicaragua. This is Venezuelan Telesur’s highly biased article about it (Google translation). Chavez is there. I am sure they’ll try to overthrow the new government and establish a dictatorship. Chávez is bringing us to the brink of war!

This is playing exactly like how Chávez got into power in Venezuela in the first place. He was ousted for a few days…but made such a strong comeback, that he embarrassed the US and the world for backing his enemies.
