Islamic terror reaches grim milestone

You may have noticed the counter in the left sidebar with the running total of terror attacks reaching 19,999 since 9-11. The most recent update from Thereligionofpeace.com reports that the grim milestone of 20,000 attacks has been reached.

On a week in which two suicide bombers slaughtered over 54 Christian and Druze (above photo) and Sunni extremists  massacred nearly 100 Shiites in Iraq, TROP recorded our 20,000th Islamic terror attack since 9/11.  It happened to be the stabbing and dismemberment of a Jewish woman in her Iranian home by religious radicals intent on expanding a mosque.

Allah’s Apostle said, “The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. “O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.”
(Sahih Bukhari 52:177)

“Killing Jews is worship that draws us closer to Allah.”

Polygamy and shariah, revisited

Mitt Romney made news recently for his family having historical ties to the practice of polygamy. Described by liberal pundits as “the ultimate Mormon oddity”, the truth is that the Mormon church officially repudiated polygamy in 1890. It was, in fact, a requirement for the admission of Utah to the Union.

Polygamy is an affront to the principle of equality between the sexes. You would think that this would be an issue that is championed as a women’s issue. Sadly, it gets little attention from international organizations, even on International Women’s Day.

The practice is common in the Muslim world, and is becoming common practice in Europe, as well:

“the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten reported statements from Norway’s Directorate of Immigration (UDI) that there are an increasing number of men with multiple wives in Norway. “The reason is married men travel to countries where polygamy is legal and then add a wife.” Though polygamy is illegal in Norway, “this is something that Norwegian authorities cannot prevent,” said UDI spokesman Karl Erik Sjøholt. …The Islamic Cultural Center Norway (ICCN), an immigrant organisation subsidised by the Norwegian state, advises Muslims in Norway to take several wives because polygamy “is advantageous and ought to be practiced where conditions lend themselves to such practice.”

Some time ago, a blog we used to visit regularly, pointed to a reprint of an article at The American Muslim that encouraged the development of sharia law in America by using the model of Tribal Courts, as practiced by American Indians.

I recommend that as a first step, supporting organizations dealing with Islamic family law be established immediately. A professional association of Muslims in the law field (of whatever specialty) is a must. A law school students’ support group should be formed, and Muslim youth should be encouraged to enter this field. A second step would be to establish institutes in the U.S. which can supplement legal education with courses in Islamic family law. At the same time, pressure should be put on law schools to include courses in Shariah taught by Muslims.

This is not assimilation. This is not acceptance of American Civil Law. This is unacceptable. Inasmuch as the political left has resisted the logical step of protecting the institution of marriage through the amendment process, is there any other remedy that has legal and historical precedent? There is. And it goes back to that “ultimate Mormon oddity.” Joshua Trevino at Brussels Journal laid out the case in an excellent post from last year.

The precedent is the 1887 Edmunds-Tucker Act, which effectively disestablished the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints until that entity gave up its doctrine of polygamy. The Mormons were effectively declared an organized-crime outfit: their properties were confiscated, and their leaders were driven underground. It took three years, but in 1890 they abandoned polygamy, Utah became a state, and the Mormons … have been good, patriotic, and peaceful Americans ever since. One, Mitt Romney, even has a shot at being President shortly. They were forced to join the civilized world by the United States government, which cared more for the norms of American culture than the values of the Mormon faith – and rightly so. Looking back, it is difficult to deny that this vigorous action – in which no American was killed, deported, put into camps, or hunted down – was to the ultimate benefit of the country and the Mormons.

If we could act with that degree of sanity, self-preservation, and humanity in 1887-1890, why not now? If we cannot, it is not because Muslims now – or any other immigrant community now – are worse than Mormons then: it is because we have lost the self-confidence to do it.

New death threat from RoP™

Robert Spencer reveals a new death threat, emanating from FDC servers in Chicago:

I am coming to slit your throat with a bland knife.. and it will pain a lot.. since you misled a lot of people and became a fitnah on earth.. it is a duty of a good muslim to kill you! go report this to FBI or CIA..

And don’t worry, I won’t attack you unguarded.. but i will surely kill you in the most easy manner possible because I don’t like to slaughter human beings.. Die and go to hell.. for sure..

Fitnah?  Heh.  Glad you asked.

From the wax stax of golden oldies …

Hang in there, Robert!

The Dhimwit Of The Month For May Goes To “24”

Jack-Bauer-Dhimwit

The Religion Of Peace, in keeping with its tradition of selecting the most deserving recipient for this dubious honor, didn’t have as difficult a time as in previous months.

They state, in their citation:

CAIR honchos no doubt cheered the seventh season finale, as Kiefer Sutherland’s character, uber-patriot Jack Bauer, was literally on his knees before Allah. Presumably dying of poison in the plot, the agent who once defended America from Islamic terrorism literally invites a local imam into his hospital room – of whom he can beg forgiveness and pray with in his “final moments.”
————–
With Jack Bauer’s deathbed “Shahada,” the producers may have finally jumped the Muslim shark. Let’s hope so. The series can hardly get any worse. Janeane Garofalo was actually cast as an FBI intelligence agent, which is wrong on many levels. (credibility-wise, it isn’t terribly clear how she managed to beat out Barney Rubble for the role).

Well said and written!
I gave up on “24” several years ago, not because it had “jumped the shark,” but because it jumped on and off frequently, in the same episodes. Honestly, how many times can terrorist escape a completely surrounded building?

In any event, after they took last year off, and returned for the 2009 season, I thought I would at least see if the show would be an improvement of the ridiculous product they had been foisting on viewers since the first season. It started out interesting, and then it happened. It was in the last half hour of the show, when, during a commercial break, a ‘PSA’ featuring the actress playing POTUS, came on and proceeded to proselytize about global warming. I immediately switched channels, never to return for the remainder of the season, but was informed by friends some of the additional nonsense that ensued, culminating with Jack calling for an imam on his (supposed) death bed.

A friend of mine had recorded it, and I had to see it for myself.
While they panned back, and you couldn’t hear what was said, it left me wondering if Jack did mutter the “shahada.”

So, I fully extend my congratulations to the cast and writers of “24” for their well deserved honor. It isn’t every year when such a clear message of dhimmitude is expressed by a prime time drama series.

The double standard

The Washington Times said it best … “It’s a sad day in America when the shooting of an abortion doctor stops the presses but no one notices two soldiers gunned down by an Islamist.”

In contrast to the flurry of Presidential and DOJ activity following the Tiller murder, there has been no reaction at all from the Obama White House regarding the Islamist attack at a Conway, Arkansas recruiting center.

Toby Harnden writing at the UK Telegraph notes this statement from Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

“The stories of two very different lives with similar fates crossed through the media’s hands yesterday – both equally important but one lacked the proper attention. The death of 67-year old George Tiller was unacceptable, but equally disgusting was another death that police believe was politically and religiously motivated as well.

“William Long died yesterday. The 23-year old Army Recruiter was gunned down by a fanatic; another fellow soldier was wounded in the ambush. The soldiers had just completed their basic training and were talking to potential recruits, just as my son, Track, once did.

“Whatever titles we give these murderers, both deserve our attention. Violence like that is no way to solve a political dispute nor a religious one. And the fanatics on all sides do great disservice when they confuse dissension with rage and death.”

Harnden asks, “Is there a double standard operating here?”

I suppose the question is rhetorical.

Michelle Malkin says: “Reality doesn’t fit Hollywood’s narrative … Must be lovely to live life immunized from the truth.” Well, there’s no hiding from the truth in this video. I laughed. I cried. It’s the feel-good hit of the Spring!

Even in Obama-speak, I just love a movie with a happy ending.

Muslim thugs torch 1147 vehicles in France

The French yoots are at it again, committing arson and mayhem on a grand scale to welcome in the new year in France.

Update: The French press reported that the Interior Ministry released a final “verified” count of 1,147 vehicles burned in France over New Year’s Eve. The number is up 30.64% from last year’s total, 878.

REUTERS – At least 445 cars were torched over the night of New Year’s Eve in France, a 20 percent rise on last year, but there were relatively few clashes with police, the Interior Ministry and police said on Thursday.

Car burnings are regular occurrences in France but the registering the New Year’s Eve total has become something of a tradition since they achieved symbolic status in the violent rioting that shook many of the country’s poor suburbs in 2005.

These are the kind of people that Obama thinks he can sit down and talk to?

WTF Open Thread

2008. The year of WTF.

People behaving out of character. A realignment on the political Right. The attempt to marginalize Christians. Weird, strange, unpredictable stuff. I can’t think of a better way to describe it than “WTF.”

First up, articles from NRO, Times Online, and JihadWatch.

Writing at NRO, Mark Steyn takes issue with those who would try to use the “nazi” label against the anti-jihad alliance. Roger Boyles continues the theme at the Times, And, writing at JihadWatch, Spencer takes on WSJ.

Mark Steyn says, “Silence = Acceptance”

We are told that the “vast majority” of the 1.6-1.8 billion Muslims (in Deepak Chopra’s estimate) are “moderate.” Maybe so, but they’re also quiet. And, as the AIDs activists used to say, “Silence=Acceptance.” It equals acceptance of the things done in the name of their faith. Rabbi Holtzberg was not murdered because of a territorial dispute over Kashmir or because of Bush’s foreign policy. He was murdered in the name of Islam — “Allahu Akbar.”

Roger Boyles reports from Berlin, “Mosques are a land grab, not a place of worship.”

So says Ralph Giordano, 85, Holocaust survivor. His protests against the grand mosque in Cologne brought a flood of supportive mail.

“…Mr. Giordano, we are afraid as you are of this creeping Islamification but we can’t say anything in public because we will end up being branded as neo-Nazis.”

The novelist and essayist pauses for effect. “Well, that’s something that cannot be pinned on me!”

Mr Giordano finds himself in the company of far-right activists. “Of course, you have to distance yourself clearly from these people – obviously their racist, neo-Nazis arguments are quite different from mine – but I am not going to be muzzled just because people are fighting on the same issue with false arguments and a false ideology.”

Also counterpunching against the PC “right” at JihadWatch,

Over the weekend, Robert Spencer called out Wall St. Journal drone James Taranto on his cynicism about the intentions of the man who is most adamant about preserving Western civilization, Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders.

Specifically, as Spencer points out, Taranto finds Wilders’ views on Islam “problematic” and isn’t sure whether or not Geert Wilders is simply an “anti-Islamic provocateur.” To which Spencer replies, “It is a pity that Taranto would characterize speaking accurately about how Muslims use Islamic texts and teachings to justify violence and Islamic supremacism as being an ‘anti-Islamic provocateur.’”

More WTF on the domestic front, as the Mother of all Bailouts continues….

The Ohio Agriculture Department conducts a SWAT Team raid on a food co-op known as the Mana Storehouse. The charge? Running a retail establishment without a license. No kidding. Selling unlicensed food is now an offense worthy of a SWAT Team raid. Read more here.

At Euromoney, Helen Avery reports that the settlement system for the US Government bond market has broken down.

And,at the Market Oracle, Martin Weiss says, “America’s Second Great Depression has started.”

Right now, our country’s finances have deteriorated too far to balance the federal budget anytime soon. But it’s not too late to avoid some major financial blunders that could seriously weaken our country for the rest of the century. Even in the worst-case scenario, it is certainly not too late for you to protect your savings, boost your income and grow your wealth.

How long could the depression last? How much further can home prices fall? How far down will the stock market go? Will it be as bad as the 1930s? At this juncture, you can count on your fingers the number of serious analysts who believe that’s even a remote possibility. And yet, stranger things have already happened, including the largest bank and insurance company collapses of all time.

And, on a lighter note, Sparty claims that Chris Petersen will be named head coach at Mississippi State, right after today’s SEC Championship game, even though Petersen and everyone else denies it. I hope Sparty’s right.

Also, South Panola’s 89 game win streak is snapped by Meridian in the 5A Championship game. Yes Virgina, Meridian’s All-State QB Tyler Russell is headed to Mississippi State! C’mon Chris Petersen.

Finally, GN Magazine has “Surprising Truths” you may not know about the Nativity story.

A ‘God Moment’ In Mumbia’s Oberoi Hotel!

Two gentlemen I know, one is the elderly father, the other his son, returned from their trip to Mumbia(Bombay) India, late Monday afternoon. I should add, two very happy men full of joy returned home, to be met by very thankful family and friends.
I will relate, briefly, part of their story from the terrorist attack on their hotel.
The first thing you must know is this, the elderly gentleman, who became a client of mine fifteen years ago, and became a friend in the process, is one of the kindest, gentlest men one could ever know. Always smiling, ever cheerful, despite the ravages of time on his body, and that of his dear, sweet wife. As he is approaching ninety years of age, he is in remarkably good health, but isn’t as steady on his feet as he once was, and uses a rolling walker to remain mobile.

It his story that I will focus on, as I related to his son, that he needs to write about his experience. I will not name them, as I don’t want to risk infringing on their privacy. It is with the knowledge of his son, that I write about their experience, but from my perspective, as a friend who listened intently to their story, and could only imagine the perils they faced.

Let me start with this one sentence, that I want you to repeat over several times.

THE ELEVATOR DOOR WAS CLOSING AS THE TERRORISTS RAN INTO THE LOBBY, AND THE SHOOTING BEGAN!

To try and explain all of the mitigating factors that led to that very moment, when the elevator door was closing, isn’t very difficult, but the impact of that moment is even less difficult to understand.

It was a ‘God Moment.’
A moment, described in five categories by Pastor Alan D. Wright in his book ‘God Moments.’ The category applicable here is:

Amazing Rescue—a moment when God guarded you, healed you, rescued you, or made a way out for you.

A ‘God Moment’ can also be described as:

This usually is a special time when it is clear that God has intervened and shown Himself in an exceptional way. It is important to notice and appreciate these unique moments and interventions of our Heavenly Father. We must enjoy them and thank Him for a clear answer to prayer, a sudden revelation of His will, a perfect circumstance that is no chance happening, a provision for a need, or a deep feeling of love and worship. These moments are important to recognize.

Source.

I know some will hiss and moan, and say it was just “fate..luck..timing” that impacted this gentleman’s life, at that precise moment. To them I can only say, you cannot see, if you don’t open your eyes.

The events leading to that moment, and the subsequent forty eight hours they remained barricaded in their hotel room, were anything but ordinary. They were attending the Synchronicity Foundation’s gathering in Mumbia, and were guests at the Oberoi, as were the others in their group.
The day began with the typically huge breakfast buffet, then sight seeing, and visiting with friends; then the typically huge lunch buffet at the hotel, with their group session in the afternoon. After returning to the hotel, the son told his father, he was going to skip dinner, as he had been eating far too much, in recent days, and asked his father if he wanted dinner. The father replied that he did want some soup, but not a full dinner. So the son assisted his elderly father to the dining room, just off of the lobby of the Oberoi, and seated him with friends, and made him comfortable. While the father was in the dining room, the son went to the mall area, that connects the Oberoi Hotel to the Trident, though they are separate facilities. There he used the internet office facilities, to send and receive emails. Upon concluding his business there, he looked in on his elderly father, who was enjoying his light dinner with friends. He informed his father, that he was going to the room, as he was growing tired. This, according to the son, was highly unusual in itself, as he generally was up quite late, and on most nights would have remained in the lobby, reading or visiting with friends.
Shortly after, the father, with the assistance of one of the ladies in the group, who was staying on the same floor as the father and son, decided to go to their rooms.

This part of the story is where it first struck me, that this was a ‘God Moment.’ Why was this night different than the others? Why did the son not join them in the dining room? Why, at that precise moment, did they decide to head upstairs? And finally, why did the elevator door open for them, and close for them, at the precise moment that it did?
I already have explained why, but these were the immediate questions that hit me, when the story was related.

Still, there is more.
They barricaded themselves in their room for two days, living in fear of the unknown, knowing from phone calls and television reports, that there were muslim terrorists committing this mayhem, and actively seeking out “Westerners,” and they survived. My first thought was of the age of my friend, and how dangerous it is for an elderly man to become dehydrated or malnourished.
It seems the ‘God Moment’ became “moments.” For some inexplicable reason, they had procured liter bottles of water, some fruit juices, and some breads and snacks. This danger was removed, as was the danger of the smoke from the fires, that got into their room. The air conditioner helped remove the smoke, until the fires were extinguished.

I can only add, that the relief I feel, knowing that my friends are safely home, with their loving families and friends, is only exceeded by those same people.
I’ve had ‘God Moments’ myself, some more profound than others, but I came to realize what they were. Which is why I was able to see, that my friends presence in the elevator, and the door closing when it did, was truly a ‘God Moment’ for him.

I’m certain there are many tales to be told, some with tragic endings, about this horrific terrorist attack. However, this one has touched me personally, and I thought I would relate it, in terms of my understanding of what has happened.

I explained this event to one of my daughters, late Monday night, and she understood immediately, what I was telling her.
I also related to the son, whom I also consider a friend, and his wife, as they departed for home yesterday, that his father’s presence in the elevator, was a ‘God Moment.’ They both agreed, and their traumatized thoughts were replaced, for a moment, with a look of understanding in their eyes, that his father had indeed, experienced a ‘God Moment.’

AlQaeda planning major European attack

from UK Mirror

Al-Qaeda could be planning to attack this summer’s Euro 2008 football championships in Switzerland and Austria, it was reported today.

“The Euro 2008 tournament is a target cited by the Islamist terrorist network,” a police spokesman reportedly told Swiss newspaper La Liberte.

A flurry of messages have been monitored, by police and security officials in Switzerland, on two Islamist internet forums – sos minbar and As-Sahab – which are favoured by the extremist terrorist group as a means to awaken dormant cells.

One message is reported to say: “Let’s transform these two countries, the safest in Europe, into hell – like the hell in Iraq or Afghanistan.”

Perhaps Obama can sit down and talk to them, and persuade them to change their ways.

Hopefully European authorities will be able to prevent this from happening.

The “renewal” written about over at Brussels Journal couldn’t come too soon.

There are many Europeans who are concerned about the future of our continent and its culture. Many of them work tirelessly in their chosen fields to strengthen European civilisation. But European conservatives do not know one another well. Conservatives respect local traditions and national cultures. But European conservatives likewise recognise that they are part of a common civilisation and it is important for European leaders to meet. Building and strengthening a network of like-minded Europeans is among our key priorities.

Just Words?

The previous post about the iman calling the Dutch schoolchildren “dogs” stirred my curiosity. With Geert Wilders making headlines with his movie Fitna, the murder of Theo van Gogh, and the books and speeches by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the Netherlands does indeed seem to be the center of the struggle for the future of Europe.

Occupying a territory only slightly larger than the state of Massachussets, The Netherlands has 453 mosques according to the Social and Cultural-planning agency of the Dutch government. Nearly all have multiple foreign Imams.

Recently, a report by the Dutch intelligence service (AIVD) named six radical mosques, all which are now under surveillance. All six preach the Salafist strain of Islam and all six receive funding from Saudi Arabia. They are:

El Tawheed Mosque in Amsterdam; Sjeikh Al Islam Ibn Taymia in Den Haag; Al Fourkaan mosque in Eindhoven; Al Mouahidine mosque in Helmond; Society of Islamic youth in Breda; Islamic Society for Education and Knowledge Transfer in Tilburg.

After three imans were expelled in 2005 for preaching sedition at the Al Fourkann mosque, a mosque spokesman said,
“If an imam preaches incitement, I am against that. Maybe that has happened sometimes in this mosque, but I don’t know about it because I was not present.”

His statement sounds eerily familiar to Barack H. Obama’s response to statements made by former Nation of Islam, and later Trinity UCC pastor Jeremiah Wright …
“I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue….The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity…”

Just words?

My Personal ‘Iraqi Freedom’ Hero Is Coming Home!

My friend Omar emailed me a few days ago, and this is what he had to say:

Dear (n2l) Hi,
How are you my friend and how is every body down there in big D, I’m doing well, I just came back from my last mission, and I’m working to do some paper work and head back home, I should be back in Dallas by mid April.
————-
I just finished my five years in Iraq, and it is time for me to take a long leave, do some thing El’s(sp=else), and see my old friends so be ready for me and I want to learn how to capture a fish and drink beer at same time, I will give you a call when I get back.

Omar and I have known each other for about fifteen years. Born and raised in the Kurdish city of Erbil, he had to flee Iraq as a young man, as he refused the order to enlist in Saddam’s Army; a death sentence was the response for refusing. Leaving his beloved Kurdistan, and his remaining family behind, he first went to Germany, then finally to the U.S. As you can imagine, it was a difficult transition, with only some acquaintances to help, as he had to learn the language, the culture, and acquire a job. He overcame all those obstacles, and despite his achievements, he often confided in me with a far away look in his eyes, how his heart ached to be back in the mountains of Kurdistan, to live a simple life in his own country, without fear of being murdered by a murderous tyrant.
After the events of 11 Sep 01, the response to the Taliban and Al Qaida in Afghanistan, and Saddam’s continued recalcitrance in complying with the UN and it’s member nations, the new approach by President Bush of “preemption” was welcomed by many of us, instead of the repeated terrorist attacks of previous years, with no response at all. As President Bush began pushing the UN to disprove what we all knew, that it was an irrelevant debating society, and he began to make the case for forcing Saddam to comply with the UN, or face removal, we could all feel the telegraphing of a round house punch. Omar and I, along with some of our friends, would discuss the situation, and we all agreed that Saddam would never capitulate, and he would rather see his entire country destroyed, than give in to the demands of the UN or it’s member nations. The stage was set, the lights were on, and we all knew what acts would follow, before the “full figured” woman wearing the Viking helmet would sing. As the run-up to the re-invasion of Iraq gained momentum, and our Armed Forces began deploying to Kuwait, and various other countries, in anticipation of the conflict, Omar became more excited, and often would comment on how much he wished he could be involved in helping liberate Iraq from Saddam, and his sadistic regime.
One day, he informed me that the State Department was accepting applications for those fluent in Arabic, that might qualify for positions as interpreters with our Armed Forces, and that he was applying. A little time went by, and he was called in for an interview, and when I next saw him, he was very dejected, as he believed he had done very poorly in the interview. He was down, and inconsolable, despite my repeated attempts to reassure him that he didn’t know that for certain. About another week, or longer, went by and I received a phone call from Omar on a Monday morning, and he excitedly asked me where I was, that he wanted to make certain he saw me before he left for Washington on Wednesday morning. I was shocked and thrilled for him, his wish had come true, and he indeed would be a part of ridding Iraq, and the world, of the “Butcher of Baghdad.” I told him that I had appointments all day, and on Tuesday, that regardless, I would definitely, most assuredly, and without a doubt, see him before he flew out of DFW International. It took until a few hours before his flight, but I got to see Omar off at DFW, and he was vibrating with excitement, he looked ten years younger, he had a fresh haircut, his shoes were shined, his slacks were freshly pressed, and he had on a new sport shirt. He looked marvelous! With much emotion, we embraced, and I told him to keep his head down, and to watch his “six” at all times, and also that I was so very proud of him for what he was doing.
On 8 Apr 03, Omar was in his hometown of Erbil for it’s liberation, one day before Baghdad fell. He had been attached to the Joint Special Forces Task Force-North, and when he came home for two weeks leave in ’04, it was great to see him, and he proudly showed me the letters of commendation he had received from his squad leader and unit commander.
Over the course of the next four years, he has been able to come home briefly on leave, once for medical reasons, related to heat stroke he suffered, due to the 125 degree heat, body armor, and other gear, and he has been wounded twice from IED blasts, but he has continued to go on patrols and raids, for all these five years. He has been involved in capturing foreign fighters, the “Surge” in Baghdad, and most recently, in the various Ops in Diyala province, trying to rid the area of Al Qaida, as well as stemming the flow of weapons from Iran.
Omar is not a young man, he is closer to sixty than he is to twenty, yet the physical and psychological demands asked of him, he was able to meet, as an American citizen “terp” was always in demand by our Forces, as they were considered more trustworthy than a local national.
I look forward to having my good friend come home safely and whole, to be reunited with his family and friends, and to live a life in peace, that includes the knowledge of having his wishes for so many years come true, and of a job very well done.
Omar, it is no longer HOKAHEY…it’s a good day to die!
For you my friend, in the words of Chief Joseph:

From where the sun now stands I will fight no more forever.

See you soon Omar, and just for the record, it is “catching” fish.

Coalition rolls up 100-woman suicide cell in raid of Iraq safe house

BAGHDAD — Iraq has captured an Al Qaida-aligned cell that recruited and deployed women for suicide operations. On March 1, Iraqi and U.S. troops raided a suspected Al Qaida safe house in Al Makhesa, in northeastern Diyala. Officials said scores of suspected women operatives recruited as suicide bombers were arrested. The women suicide cell was said to have consisted of 100 operatives.

Officials said Al Qaida has increased its use of women for suicide operations.

The women cell was said to have operated in the Diyala province. Officials said some of the women were recruited by their husbands for suicide operations against Iraqi and U.S. forces.

U.S. military commander Gen. David Petraeus reported a slight increase in suicide-vest attacks in Iraq. He said the suicide vests were being handed to women, regarded as being more capable of reaching their targets than car bombs.

Good grief.

Mullah accidently blows up self, sons

A LANDMINE blew up in the home of a religious cleric in southern Afghanistan, killing the mullah, two of his sons and two other men who had been preparing an attack, police said today.

The cleric’s wife was critically wounded in the blast in their compound in the southern province of Helmand late yesterday, and a daughter was hurt, provincial police chief General Mohammad Hussein Andiwal said.

The bodies of the mullah and his two sons, both under 15 years old, remained at the site of the blast, he said.

Other people in the compound said two other men were killed but their bodies had been removed before police arrived, he said.

Global jihad moves to Chad

While the US sleeps…..

With the so called “rebel” attack on N’Djamena it becomes increasingly clear that the jihadist government and militia of Sudan expand their operations to neighboring Chad. Saudi-Arabia, Syria and Iran back the hardliners in Khartoum.

The racist genocidal ethnic cleansing policies of the Arab muslim tribes in power in the Sudanese capital will can’t be stopped by UN or EUFOR intervention troops anymore. Their only possible base of operations against the jihadis from Sudan WAS Chad. Chad is another piece of the map of Africa that is gone. Fallen to the “religion of peace”.

One wonders how the US government will deal with this conflict, given the massive US oil interests in Chad, where huge reserves have been discovered in 2003, and “our friends the Saudis” on the other hand, who are in bed with Khartoum.

Here is an article on the situation, by Walid Phares, Ph.D., World Defense Review columnist:

“As Americans are debating who among their candidates for the primaries can best confront the Jihadists or at least preempt their offensives worldwide, future Jihadi forces have in one day invaded an African country (under European protection), a key location for the Darfur forthcoming peace missions. In less than 12 hours the so-called armed opposition of Chad, crossed the entire country from its eastern frontiers with Islamist-ruled Sudan to the capital N’Djamena across from northern Nigeria.

The UN decides to “Cut and Run”

“We can no longer guarantee the safety and security of U.N. staff in Chad and we have evacuated, with the help of the French Government, most of the personnel into neighboring countries, in Cameroon and Gabon.”

Ban said he was leaving in place a small number of U.N. peacekeepers and other personnel in Chad’s capital, and that the U.N. would do as much as it could to help resolve the crisis. “I welcome the initiative of the African Union to have designated leaders of Libya and the Republic of Congo to mediate this issue,” he said.

Ban also called on the U.N. Security Council “to help bring this terrible crisis to an end. It has devastating consequences not only for the people of Chad and Darfurian refugees seeking shelter there, but also for Darfur itself.”

We must defeat islamofascism

satellite.jpgI have had the pleasure of visiting Israel, our staunch ally, our great friend and the most exemplary democracy in the Middle East, a total of nine times. On one of those trips, I took my then 11-year-old daughter, Sarah, to Yad Vashem. As we faced the grimly surreal pictures from Dachau and Auschwitz, she confronted the horrors of the thousands of bodies stacked on top of one another like so much lumber – six million dead. At the end of our visit, Sarah went to the guest book and wrote simple words that I will never forget: “Why didn’t somebody do something?”

That is all she wrote, but with those words, I knew that, in her own way, she “got it.”

Unfortunately, some in America, even some running for president, don’t get it. Those who don’t understand that the war in Iraq is a critical part of the war on terror, don’t get it. Those who pledge to withdraw our troops according to some politically-motivated rationale before this war is won, don’t get it. Iraq must be stable and secure within its borders. It is not just Iraq’s security that is at stake, but the security of the entire region and of the United States.

But among those who seem to want to leave as soon as possible, regardless of the strategic and humanitarian consequences, is Sen. Barack Obama, one of the two remaining Democratic candidates for the presidency.

I have another grave concern about Sen. Obama, which was well-expressed by Matt Brooks, Executive Director of the Republican Jewish Coalition:

“We are deeply troubled by Senator Obama’s desire to ‘hold a summit in the Muslim world, with all heads of state’ many of whom have yet to renounce terrorism or refrain from anti-Semitic incitement. …Senator Obama said he wanted to listen to the ‘concerns’ of these nations. For many, their biggest concern is Israel’s existence. It’s worrisome that Senator Obama wants to ‘listen’ to those calling for Israel’s destruction.”

AMERICA MUST be effective in the Middle East, and we must of course listen – and learn, and safeguard. But most of all, we need to be resolute in our strength, military and moral. Specifically, we must not pay any sort of tribute to terrorist states – including the honor of “listening” in some formal setting, where every splenetic utterance will be aired worldwide. For example, what would the president do in the face of some outrageously anti-American or anti-Semitic statement: Just sit there? Get up and walk out?

We shouldn’t engage in impromptu diplomacy based on a misplaced sense of “empathy.” That’s why I am concerned about Sen. Obama’s suggestion.

I don’t want to hear the “concerns” of terrorist states – but I do want them to hear me.

I want everyone in the Middle East to know that America is committed to its strategic interests in the region, including a safe and secure Israel. Does Senator Obama really want to meet with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran, for example? Sen. Obama has said he wants to, both as part of his summit, and privately. Hard to believe, but true, according to his interviews with Paris Match (January 31, 2008) and the International Herald Tribune (November 1, 2007). Iran and its partner Syria bring danger and death to Americans and Israelis on a daily basis though their support of terrorists – in Gaza, Lebanon, and of course, in Iraq.

If the annihilation of six million Jews taught us anything, it is that appeasement doesn’t work; it just results in the deaths of innocents and makes the job of eradicating evil all the more difficult.

So I share Israel’s concern about an aggressive unchecked Iran. And I share Israel’s determination that Iran will not become a nuclear power. As president, I will not take the military option off the table. I will work to strengthen sanctions against Iran both through the United Nations and the European Union.

No one seeking the presidency in either party is more steadfastly committed to Israel’s security, survival as a Jewish state, and ability to defend herself than I am. As president, I will ensure that Israel always has the state-of-the-art weaponry and technology she needs. And in addition, I will dramatically increase American defense spending. Before there can be true peace, there must be the basic recognition of Israel’s right to exist and an end to anti-Semitic and anti-Israel lies and propaganda.

Together, we must prevent nuclear proliferation and defeat Islamofascism. Together, we must be the people who confront and overcome evil. We must be the people who take action now, so that future generations of Sarahs don’t look back and ask “Why didn’t somebody do something?”

Corporate And Public Funding For An Islamic Ghetto In Philadelphia!

I came across a post at pipelinenews, called Muhammad and Mrs. Jones – Kenny Gamble’s Philadelphia Muslim Enclave, and additionally more information at the Militant Islam Monitor. These were astonishing articles to me, not only because I loved the music that this man wrote, but because of the open desire to transform an area of urban decline in South Philadelphia, into an Islamic enclave. Kenny Gamble, or as he is now known in Muslim circles, Luqman Abdul Haqq, wrote the hit song “Me and Mrs. Jones,” among others, and even if you were born after the 1970’s, you know that song, and how popular it was. That this could be happening in one of the most historic cities in this country, the seat of power during the American Revolution, and that it could be happening with corporate and public funding, adds to my astonishment. I decided to look a little further into this, after reading the Rabinowitz article, and found much more on this person’s activities, and it appears this hasn’t been happening out of sight, yet many of the city and state leaders are supportive of these activities.
First a little about Gamble…er…Haqq, as you can see in the above article, he founded the United Muslim Movement, then opened the United Muslim Majlis(mosque), and later formed the Universal Companies. Haqq is also a member of a shady Muslim group which was created in support of the cop killer H. Rap Brown, as stated in the article:

Gamble is also a member of the Majlis Ash Shura Council of MANA, the Muslim Alliance in North America, which is led by Siraj Wahhaj. MANA was created to support cop killer Al Amin. Siraj Wahhaj is perhaps most infamous as having been named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993 by Federal prosecutor Mary Jo White.

It was stated in the above article, that due to a personal crisis in 1975, he converted to Islam. What that personal conflict was, may have been due to his own doing, as his record label was fined in a “payola” conviction.
/poor baby
There is more on Siraj Wahhaj, from Daniel Pipes, in this article:

In June 1991, Siraj Wahaj, a black convert to Islam and the recipient of some of the American Muslim community’s highest honors, had the privilege of becoming the first Muslim to deliver the daily prayer in the U.S. House of Representatives. On that occasion he recited from the Qur’an and appealed to the Almighty to guide American leaders “and grant them righteousness and wisdom.”

A little over a year later, addressing an audience of New Jersey Muslims, the same Wahaj articulated a rather different vision from his mild and moderate invocation in the House. If only Muslims were more clever politically, he told his New Jersey listeners, they could take over the United States and replace its constitutional government with a caliphate. “If we were united and strong, we’d elect our own emir [leader] and give allegiance to him. . . . [T]ake my word, if 6-8 million Muslims unite in America, the country will come to us.” In 1995, Wahaj served as a character witness for Omar Abdel Rahman in the trial that found that blind sheikh guilty of conspiracy to overthrow the government of the United States. More alarming still, the U.S. attorney for New York listed Wahaj as one of the “unindicted persons who may be alleged as co-conspirators” in the sheikh’s case.

The disparity between Wahaj’s good citizenship in the House and his militant forecast of a Muslim takeover—not to mention his association with violent felons—is only one example of a larger pattern common to the American Muslim scene.

Mr. Pipes, in this same article, adds:

Not all these organizations and spokesmen are open about their aspirations, though some are: for example, the International Institute of Islamic Thought in Herndon, Virginia, proclaims its academic purpose to be nothing less than “the Islamization of the humanities and the social sciences.” But the best-known organizations—the ones whose members are invited to offer prayers and invocations before Congress or to attend White House functions, or whose representatives accompanied the President on his September 17 visit to a mosque—tend to hide their true colors behind arch-respectable goals. Thus, the American Muslim Council claims to work “toward the political empowerment of Muslims in America,” the Council on American-Islamic Relations is “putting faith into action,” and the Muslim Public Affairs Council seeks only to make American Muslims “an influential component in U.S. public affairs.”

But as I have documented at greater length on other occasions, 5 much if not everything about the conduct of these organizations points to their essential agreement with the “conquer America” agenda, and from time to time their leaders—including Al-Faruqi and Shakir—have even said as much. As for Siraj Wahaj, he is a top figure in the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the Islamic Society of North America, the Muslim Alliance in North America, and the Muslim Arab Youth Association, and his views contaminate every single one of them. It is not accurate to say, as President Bush said of the Islamist leaders with whom he met on September 17, that they “love America as much as I do.”

The co-founder of MANA with Wahaj is one IMAM AL-HAJJ TALIB ABDUR-RASHID, and his background can be found here. A synopsis of his views:

* Imam of the Mosque of Islamic Brotherhood
* Opposes the U.S. War on Terror
* Views America as a nation infested with white racism

The involvement of Haqq’s UMM, mosque, and Universal Companies in developing an Islamic Enclave in Philly is disturbing to me, as it should be to any freedom loving citizen, as it’s involvement with Black-Islamic supremacist group Nation of Islam, is well documented(I refuse to link to NOI), but even more disturbing is it’s involvement with business and political leaders, including the former police commissioner who called for 10,000 citizen activists to combat the crime in Philly, which the muslim groups responded to. Incidentally, former police commissioner Sylvester M. Johnson is a muslim, and according to this report:

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson, who Islamic groups say is the only Muslim running a U.S. police department, softened decades-old rules in August 2003 to allow some beards.

The following is from the Universal Companies dot org website, which I will not link to. It’s enough I had to go there, and will spare you the risk of giving them your ip address, or them the traffic.

Universal Companies has become an accomplished real estate developer of mixed income housing, multiple use facilities, and multiple financing source developments. Since it’s founding, Universal Companies has developed more than 250 housing units (rental and homeownership) and 200,000 square feet of commercial space at a total development cost of approximately $ 90 million, with more than one billion dollars in real estate development projects in its pipeline.

Although Universal Community Homes was the initial entity of focus project, the need for a comprehensive approach was evident. Luqman know that you can’t just fix and build houses and transform a community, that there are other challenges and factors that must be overcome as well. Universal Companies is a group of organizations that provide a wide range of comprehensive services designed to rebuild urban America . The range of programs and services include real estate development, construction, property management, vocational skill training, adult basic education, job preparation and placement, career one stop, case management, technology networking and management, business training, business service technical assistance, business office support, capital lending, elementary education, and after school programs.

The company, which employs 180 people and grossed $15 million last year–75% of which came from government grants and private sector donations, with the remaining 25% coming from earned income–is on a mission to redevelop three neighborhoods within South Philadelphia: the 15-square-block area of Hawthorne, 40 blocks that constitute Southwest Central, and 72 square blocks that make up Point Breeze. Launched with $6 million to $7 million of Gamble’s own money, the company’s assets now include: * Universal Real Estate Development Co., which has a portfolio valued at $14 million. Its assets consist of 250 developed residential properties, an additional 300 units under construction, and approximately 250,000 square feet of commercial space. Some 450 people currently reside in housing provided by Universal Cos. * Universal Business Support Center, designed to foster business development within South Central Philadelphia. Some 40 businesses are enrolled in the center. * Universal Retail Cos., which operates two convenience stores, a barbershop, and several other locations under construction in South Central Philadelphia. * Universal Construction Co., the firm that manages the construction and contracting for the parent company. * Universal Education Management Co., which manages the Universal Institute Charter School in addition to three South Philadelphia public schools, totaling 2,500 students. * Universal Capital Investment Fund, a community development financial institution (CDFI) that has raised $300,000 to provide small loans and equity investment to businesses associated with the business support center. Universal hopes to expand the fund to $1 million over the next year.

Not everyone in South Philly is pleased with this development, though, and there are some very interesting discussions on some Philly blogs and news organizations.

Some residents in South Philadelphia fear that Gamble’s real-life aims aren’t as inclusive; they fear that Gamble, a convert to Islam, is inclined toward racial and religious segregation, which is creating tension in what has long been an integrated neighborhood. And Gamble himself, with his sweeping and sometimes outlandish views, doesn’t always help matters.

“Sadly, Mr.Gamble’s faith and some of his reported comments about preserving the African American community have been polarising”…particularly in our uneasy post 9-11 world.” She said some people fear Gamble wants to build a black Muslim enclave. (source)

Universal’s Troubles
Actually, Universal is a sore subject for some of us who have lived here a while. The Royal Theater properties were sold to Universal by the Preservation Alliance in the late 1990s with the promise that Universal/Gamble was ready to go with an entertainment complex. After many community meetings, nothing much has been done.

But the property was recently in the news as though this entertainment complex is a new idea. It isn’t.

Universal may have trouble getting contractors and funding for the large projects. Why?

1. Universal’s partnership with Pennrose, Uni-Penn, created to build MLK Plaza just east of Broad and Fitzwater area, declared bankruptcy. Uni-Penn is being sued by several larger contractors according to the Philadelphia civil court docket. Looks like any judgement will be difficult to collect on a technically bankrupt entity, so future contractors will avoid working for managers who don’t pay unless sued.

2. The Royal Theater properties defaulted on the mortgage held by the Preservation Alliance, making the four or so Royal properties eligible for Sheriff sale. Who will build or partner with anyone to create an “entertainment complex” and museum to Kenny Gamble if the building can be sold right out from under them?

3. Universal has a few properties listed on Trend for sale that were not meant to be sold. They are sold before any renovation occurred, or are being sold after public funds were used to create a business that was meant to exist to train and employ the disadvantaged or those working on life skills. I refer to the former “Universal Minimart” now an African themed restaurant/deli. Built with Community Development Block Grant funds of about $150K, the structure is now to be sold. While I support this sale, the private market could have funded and built the same thing at no cost to the taxpayer.

4. Universal’s Real Estate Office at 15th and South is being rented out it seems, which is a new, unannounced thing. Universal’s business development area experienced a downsizing recently. There are some Gamble owned lots, that were conveyed by the RDA, that are being sold now on Trend. While I support this sale to a private owner, it would have been better for the neighborhood if this property was offered at auction competitively by the RDA instead of conveyed to Universal and held for years. The private market can be forced to build or sell sooner. Any partner looking to develop in earnest will wonder what the heck is going on.

5. Universal’s PAC, NUR-PAC, is a Street and local Dem party top contributor. Pay to play is when a nonprofit gets goodies such as cheap property and kicks back contributions to the party that orchestrates this. Nonprofit contributions should be addressed in ethics reform legislation. Meanwhile, serious partners in real renovation will be put off in the new climate of reform.

6. Universal’s rate of development to their rate of holding undeveloped properties seems to be about one in four or five. I can’t tell entirely, since the organization refuses to make any annual report available. However, the federal 990s filed show that the top managers make from $75K to $110K plus benefits per year. Wow. Yet Rahim Islam, head of Real Estate, claims the group “can’t afford annual reports,” even if made available electronically. Hmm.

7. Kenny Gamble is buddies with Shamsud-din Ali aka Clarence Fowler.

8. The most druggie area of the 30th Ward now is the area where Universal owns the most properties. Universal’s model of development does not improve the climate and equity much. The private market is achieving more in terms of cleaner, safer streets and diversity. I’ve heard Universal referred to as a publicly financed Sam Rappaport, who held crappy properties for years until the area around it improved, then sold as is and cashed in. This is not
progressive minded redevelopment. Speculation without renovation should be stopped whether by a for profit or nonprofit.

9. Universal is a religious entity that is indigenous black muslim in focus. The Philadelphia black muslim movement has had a storied connection with drugs and organized crime. See the several academic books on the subject, especially those by Sean Patrick Griffin, who wrote “Philadelphia’s ‘Black Mafia:’ A Social and Political History.” Griffin notes that a non profit known as “Black Inc.” at 1433 South St. was firebombed some time ago. Black Inc. was disbanded after law enforcement linked it to the drug trade. Such an ugly past and a geographic and religious similarity begs the question: Were members of Universal involved in crime? Should those who get valuable city goods have a clean record? Should redevelopers and nonprofits be prohibited from getting city contracts and property if members have felony convictions or were on probation for some serious crime? A review of the civil court docket shows that some current members of Universal have been under probation.

10. As to quality of work, Universal was recently featured on NBC10 for severe mold problems and shoddy workmanship at its development on Cross St. This can occur when wooden materials are left to the elements for long periods, as seems to be the case in the new Universal development in the Federal St area, where the sticks and plywood went up but then there was no activity for a long time. Experienced builders will try to avoid cash flow problems that result in work stoppage.

That said, every builder has problems and makes mistakes. Don’t let it stop you from investing in the area. But be an informed owner. Go to community meetings. Ask tough questions that the Universal dittoheads avoid. Put the pressure on Universal to build or to sell. Complain to politicians and the RDA. Look up on Hallwatch the empty Universal lots and complain to Anna Verna, ccing Rahim Islam.

Everyone will benefit from your diligence, your equity most of all.

There is so much more information available on this disturbing trend, but time and space just don’t permit including it all. That an Islamic Enclave could be developing in the midst of one of our major cities, with so much assistance and complicity from business and political leaders is a frightening prospect. With the examples coming from Europe in the past few years, of what happens when predominately Muslim enclaves are allowed to flourish, alarms should be going off throughout this country. How long before Car-B-Ques come to Philly, like they have in France and Holland?
In my research, I came across this interesting and informative article, which includes the original lyrics, that then became our National Anthem.

Though most of us think of the American relationship with Islam as a modern phenomenon, the encounter in fact goes back to the very first days of the nation. That encounter was from its first a troubled affair and involves the origins of U.S. military and diplomatic affairs. American conflicts with Muslim states in North Africa provide the opening to Max Boot’s fine analysis of The Savage Wars of Peace: Small Wars and the Rise of American Power, and we all probably know a little about “The Shores of Tripoli.” We may not know that these events occasioned the first draft of our national anthem. In response to these wars, around 1805, Francis Scott Key composed a patriotic song that described how:

In the conflict resistless each toil they endured,
’Till their foes fled dismayed from the war’s desolation;
And pale beamed the crescent, its splendor obscured
By the light of the star-spangled flag of our nation.
Where each radiant star gleamed a meteor of war,
And the turbaned heads bowed to its terrible glare,
Now mixed with the olive the laurel shall wave,
And form a bright wreath for the brow of the brave.

The tune would become “The Star Spangled Banner.”

The fight continues, and we can never rest or be complacent, or the medieval mind set of Islam will destroy our great nation…one city at the time.

Merry Christmas from osama

Huck Knows National Security

Go Mike!

What to make of Hillary and Huma

Hugh Fitzgerald sums up the puzzlement quite nicely…

if the reports are to be believed, Huma Abedin remains, despite living in the West, a “deeply conservative” Muslim. We are entitled to assume, therefore, that she still regards the Qur’an as the uncreated and immutable Word of God. And we are entitled to consult that “Word of God” to find out what she believes. And that includes 9.5, and 9.29, and another hundred deeply disturbing and hate-filled verses. We are entitled to assume that she is familiar with the most “authentic” Hadith in the most authoritative collections. We are entitled to assume that she regards Muhammad as exemplary, uswa hasana, al-insan al-kamil, and that therefore she finds all of his behavior not only beyond criticism, but to be taken as a model: little Aisha, and the murders of Asma bint Marwan and Abu Afak, the decapitation of the 600-900 bound prisoners of the Banu Qurayza, the attack on the inoffensive Jewish farmers of the Khaybar Oasis, and so on.

hillhuma.jpgIs this close aide, this aide-de-camp, who may or may not be closer and more intimate with Hillary Clinton than anyone else on earth, really a deep admirer of that Muhammad? Is she a deep believer in the Qur’an, and therefore a supporter of the Shari’a, desirous naturally of removing all barriers to the spread of the faith of which she is not only an adherent by birth (born into it through no fault of her own), but apparently by conviction? She is, furthermore, the daughter of a Muslim preacher who went to Saudi Arabia, the place where the most rigorous and unmediated Islam is put into practice, and enforced at every level.

We have a right to know. And Huma Abedin, and her great and good friend, have a duty to tell us. With no counter-attacks, none of that manufactured indignation, none of that “I won’t dignify such scurrilous rumors” or “leave her alone, it’s her private life.” In this case, Huma’s friend is running for President. In this case, she wishes to be in control of the American government when war is being made on that government, and its people, and on Infidels everywhere, by Muslims acting in the name of Islam. And they are not doing so because they are “extremists,” but because they have chosen to use the instrument of warfare, or terror, rather than to use the instruments of Da’wa, and the Money Weapon, and demographic conquest that are being employed by tens or hundreds of millions of other Muslims.

This has to be cleared up. What does this woman so close to Hillary Clinton believe? And what does Hillary Clinton now believe, or allow herself to believe because she wishes to, because it makes her able to justify, or reconcile, her personal life and her political life? Or does she think there is nothing to worry about, or that no one has a right to raise this issue?

Excellent post, Mr. Fitzgerald. Thanks for all you do.

Hugh expounds into why Mrs. Clinton’s primary opponents are unlikely to ask these questions. Please read it all.

Giving Thanks Is For Iraq, Too!

I don’t know if President Bush will make a surprise visit to Iraq this year, or not. Personally, I hope he has the opportunity to spend this holiday with his extended family, and enjoy his many blessings. One of his blessings is now being bestowed on Iraqi citizens, as they begin to return from exile, in large numbers.

The figures are hard to estimate precisely but the process could involve hundreds of thousands of people. The numbers are certainly large enough, as we report today, for a mass convoy to be planned next week as Iraqis who had opted for exile in Syria return to their homeland. It is one of the most striking signs that not only has violence in Baghdad and adjacent provinces decreased dramatically in recent months, but confidence in the economic and political future of Iraq has risen sharply.

Road From Damascus.

Displacement and Migration Minister Abdul Samad Sultan told Reuters that 1,600 people were returning to Iraq every day. As many as 2 million Iraqis have taken refuge in other nations, mainly Syria and Jordan.

Tearful Iraqi refugees return, hoping for safety.

While I, and many others, view the developments in Iraq as a blessing, of course, there are others who view the developments as a curse, such as the conspirators in the failure of U.S. policy in Iraq, Al Qaida, the U.S. Democrat party, and radical leftists all over the world. What is good news for America, is bad news for those who view this as a curse. They should be accustomed to bad news by now, as these events are a progression of events, beginning last year, even before the Gen. Petraeus surge began.

I’m not clairvoyant, or even a good prognosticator, but a believer in the force of good over evil, the forces of freedom and liberty over despotism and tyranny, and of the ability of our President to convey what is important, and of our military to establish their mission based on a belief in what they are fighting for.
Need another example of “Hearts and Minds?” Then check this article, if for no other reason, the wonderful photo.
President Bush has been called every name in the book, and some that are too disgusting to be included in the book, and he has been criticized for every imaginable human failing extant. He has never waivered, nor has he faltered in his focus on what he believes is right, and now, even some of his harshest critics are beginning to(reluctantly) admit, that his plan is working.
I’m not here to be his cheerleader, for one thing he doesn’t need me too, he can stand on his own due to his accomplishments, and I have many bones to pick with him, but not on his approach to the GWOT.
I came across this quote from Amir Tehari, that seems appropriate, even though he was referring to Afghanistan:

In every war there comes a time when victory chooses its camp. That choice may take some time before it becomes apparent to those involved, but the more perceptive recognise it as soon as it appears on the horizon.

Victory chose it’s camp in Iraq over a year ago. Only now are many willing to acknowledge it has.
The Iraqis certainly are, and for this, our President, our military, our citizens, and the Iraqi people, can all give a heartfelt thanks.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING……EVERYONE!
