Fred Thompson adopts the Reid Doctrine

The Reid Doctrine™: The bold declaration of pre-emptive surrender made by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in April 2007.

It was quickly echoed by both Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Joe Biden, as well as Barack Obama, John Kerry (who served in Viet Nam), and a host of other Democrats.

At The Politico, Ben Smith reports that a Republican, Fred Thompson, has adopted the Reid Doctrine™ in his criticism of Obama’s handling of the “overseas contingency operation” in Afghanistan …

“It really doesn’t matter how President Obama divides the Afghan baby, how he splits the difference between McChrystal and Biden. Because the war has been lost,” Thompson said on his radio show today. “I say this because of one sad and simple fact. The president does not have the will and determination to do what’s necessary to win it. His heart’s not in it, and never has been. The Taliban knows it. Al Qaeda knows it. Our allies know it. And the American people know it. {snip}

“Take your time, Mr. President,” Thompson said. Unless you have a total change of heart and mind, it really doesn’t make any difference.”

Obviously, the irony of accusing Obama of delivering a half-hearted effort is lost on Big Fred.

Regardless, this rhetoric is no more acceptable coming from a Republican than it is from a Democrat.

Shame on you, Fred Thompson.

It is up to the Christians

I was reading an article over at Politico a few days ago which talked about obama’s appeal to church-going Christians. Or, should I say, his lack of appeal to church-going Christians.

In spite of all that has been written and talked about the obama outreach effort to evangelical voters, only 28% if this large demographic group is planning to vote for obama. In fact, that number is slightly less than John Kerry received 4 years ago. How significant is this? The evangelical vote is about one third of the electorate. This is good news for John McCain.

Should anyone be surprised? I really don’t think so.

The obama campaign is offensive to Christians on many levels. Certainly the Right to Life is a large part of that. Even more so, I think, is the messiah-like worship that obama’s supporters have given to him. 0bama himself has done nothing at all to discourage them, and actually seems to revel in it.

It is the type of behavior that leaves a large portion of the evangelical right wondering if we are seeing the rise of the antichrist.

I don’t use those words easily, and just seeing them on screen gives me pause.

He can still be defeated.

This year, more than ever, it is up to the Christians.

If McCain is “just like George Bush,” then Obama is just like ??

A tale in pictures, courtesy of Free Republic

The Obama campaign’s mantra is that John McCain is “just like George Bush”. Well, there are some distinct similarities.

Both men have the respect and admiration of our warriors.

Both were military aviators. McCain saw combat in Vietnam; George Bush volunteered, but was not sent.

And both men love this nation and understand American Exceptionalism…

The enemies of liberty and our country should make no mistake: America remains engaged in the world by history and by choice, shaping a balance of power that favors freedom. We will defend our allies and our interests. We will show purpose without arrogance. We will meet aggression and bad faith with resolve and strength. And to all nations, we will speak for the values that gave our nation birth.

I’m going to fight to make sure every American has every reason to thank God, as I thank Him: that I’m an American, a proud citizen of the greatest country on earth, and with hard work, strong faith and a little courage, great things are always within our reach.

So yes, on the important issues that define what America stands for, and what she must do to combat our enemies, John McCain and George Bush are alike.

——————————–

But who does Barack Hussein Obama remind us of? His liberal policies remind us of a litany of failed socialists.

Obama’s calls for more government handouts reminds us of the 2004 democratic VP candidate, John “Two Americas” Edwards….

Where one America works hard, has church BBQs and volunteers to defend our country; and the other America buys 28,000 square foot homes with proceeds from class action lawsuits, and spends $400 every two weeks at the beauty parlor.

—————————–

Obama’s pie in the sky, no drilling energy policy reminds us of the 2000 Democratic Presidential Candidate, Algore, who trots around the globe in a private jet, chastising the peasants for their wasteful carbon footprints…

and declaring the internal combustion engine to be the “greatest enemy” of mankind while utterly ignoring the gathering storm of islamic terrorism.

—————————–

Obama’s anti-gun, anti-second amendment record clearly reminds us of Michael Dukakis whose “Just say Yes” to gun control platform led to a thorough drubbing at the hands of George Bush’s father…

and to much deserved ridicule to this day.

——————————–

Obama’s pro-infanticide record and policies reminds us very much of the pro-abortion Mondale/Ferraro ticket, which had the same enthusiastic support from NOW and NARAL that Obama has….

and led to his excellent showing in 1984 where he held onto his home state of Minnesota, by 3,800 votes.

——————————–

And significantly, Obama’s limp wristed foreign policy in which he blames America first certainly reminds us of the last ‘unknown’ democratic candidate who received the mainstream media’s undying affection, Jimmy Carter….

who still to this day cannot discern friend from foe of the United States of America.

———————————

And by dragging along the media to see him workout and shoot hoops, Obama reminds us of the 2004 democratic presidential candidate, John F. Kerry, who also tried to mask his elitism and effete lifestyle….

but who unfortunately, just like during Obama’s bowling adventure, had rogue photographers capturing his real essence.

———————————

And finally, Obama reminds us very much of the last black democratic presidential candidate, Al Sharpton, whose Community Organizing prowess certainly rivals that of Obama….

except that Al still holds his hand above his heart for the Pledge of Allegiance.

——————————-

So yes indeed, this election is truly an election between “more of the same” and something new. Unfortunately for the Obama and Biden team, the “more of the same” applies to them, as they are merely a continuation in a long line of elite, effeminate, tax hiking, enviro-alarmist liberals, who have no concept what real Americans value.

——————————-

If they want to see what change looks like and they want to understand America and patriotism, all they have to do is make an appointment with the next Vice President of the United States.

WFFOT the 13th Roundup

Good grief, it’s Friday already?

Since deciding to cut back on blogging activity a couple of weeks ago, my time away from the blogosphere has become more productive. Big surprise, huh.

We put the house on the market, found a small place with some land a few miles out of town that we should be able to pay cash for, and made some plans to accomplish two of the “ity” goals that we set for ourselves at the beginning of 2007: “liquidity”, and “defensibility”. The third “ity” goal” “mobility” has been largely accomplished, with the fourth, “sustainability” still in the planning stages. All in all, it’s been a busy two weeks, with more to come.

Mrs. Nuke told me the other day that she wants a new personal protection device. I’m leaning towards recommending a 38 snubbie, simplicity, reliabilty, and all that … (I kind of like those “ity” words). Suggestions and recommendations please …

Headlines and News Articles of interest …

John F. Kerry agrees with the SCOTUS – Gitmo ruling … What a complete dingus…

Reminiscent of “Get Smart” and the Cone of Silence, Scientists have shown off the blueprint for an “acoustic cloak”, which could make objects impervious to sound waves. I hear they’re remaking the old GS series into a feature film…..bringing back teenage fantasies about Agent 99 …

Great piece from Dr. K: “Make the Election about Iraq” … Speaking of Iraq, got an email from Mike Yon, who, after his book tour is headed back to Iraq. He’ll be reporting independent of embeds, meaning that he will not have the direct protection of the military … Please remember Mike in your prayers, and in your giving by buying Moment of Truth, or by making a direct contribution. Without your support, the mission will end.

Miracle Date? “A 2,000-year-old date seed discovered at Masada four decades ago may provide new cures to numerous ailments, Israeli scientists say, after making significant advances, against all odds, in producing fruit from the seed….to yield a now-extinct species of date that was renowned in ancient times as a treatment for heart disease, chest problems, the spitting of blood, weakened memory and other medical conditions, possibly even symptoms of cancer and depression. Dang… How much you figure those newly grown pits would go for on Ebay?

The Tyranny of PC: “The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter has halted a program to promote the adoption of black cats and dogs the week of June 14-20 after criticism that the event would have taken place the week of Juneteenth, Director Cheryl Schneider said today.

“We apologize if our promotion to reduce fees on black dogs and cats offended anyone,” Schneider said in a statement.”

They have the bastard on tape … “AUSTIN — Whoever launched the Molotov cocktail that led to the devastating weekend fire at the Texas Governor’s Mansion had breached the security fencing and was standing on the property’s front lawn at the time of the attack, officials said Thursday”

From the Dept of Paranoia … Is it paranoia if they really do want to kill you?

RoP school in Virginia teaches that …”a Muslim can take with impunity the life and property of someone believed guilty of polytheism. According to the panel, the strict Saudi interpretation of polytheism includes Shiite and Sufi Muslims as well as Christians, Jews, Hindus, and Buddhists.” Great. ……

Florida Muslim leaders met with Doudou Diène, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, at a Miami hearing to discuss Islamophobia and anti-Muslim discrimination” … I am up to here with this BS.

And finally, here’s a great site if you need a spiffy new name for your band, or blog, and no, they don’t actually use the word “spiffy.” Here’s what I came up with when I plugged in “Nuke” …

Nuke of the Blur
Wet Nuke
Nuke Mood
Nuke Void
Sublime Kneecap of the Nuke Boar
Nuke of the Diabolical
Shameless Nuke
Nuke Sunberry
Nuke Dad
Nuke Horse
Didactic Nuke
Nuke Grease
Tomato of the Nuke
Godless Habitat
Acid Nuke
Igneous Nuke
Western Sky
Nuke Goat and the Mayo
Icky Nuke
Nuke Cantaloupe
Nuke of the Glass
Intuition of the Nuke
Gourmet Counselor of the Nuke Vapor

I’m kind of partial to Nuke Goat and the Mayo. Speedshop Deli could have used this generator when they were naming my pickle. Heh™
