GTT: California Egress Continues

The Exodus from California continues.  This time, it’s a big one — Toyota

Toyota (TM) is expected to announce today the shift of hundreds of jobs in its sales and marketing department from Southern California to a location outside Dallas, according to several reports.

Toyota did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but an announcement could come later today after Toyota officials discuss the move with employees at their Torrance, Calif., facility.

While Toyota gained its early foothold in the U.S. in Southern California, the car maker now makes most of its U.S. built cars in Texas and the South. The move is apparently designed to consolidate its business operations within a smaller area.

The Los Angeles Times said about 5,300 people work at Toyota’s Torrance complex but that it was uncertain on Monday how many of those employees will be asked to transfer to Texas and whether the shift would entail layoffs.

The newspaper, citing people with knowledge of Toyota’s plans, said the move is expected to take several years.

Employees in Toyota’s Torrance offices and other U.S. locations asked to move to Texas will be offered relocation packages and financial assistance.

The new Texas headquarters is expected to house at least three units, including Toyota Motor Sales USA, Toyota Financial Services and Toyota Engineering and Manufacturing North America. The move will be scheduled to begin in August and will take place in stages through the end of 2016.

The move is seen as a blow to Southern California, where an undisclosed number of jobs will be lost in an important sector for the region, and a big win for Texas, which will be adding hundreds of new, mostly white collar, well-paying jobs.

Texas Governor Rick Perry has made several trips to California in a very-public effort to lure companies and their jobs to Texas, touting his state’s lower corporate taxes and less regulated business environment.

Where there’s a will, there’s a relative

Here are two posts for your consideration this evening.

First, from Andrew Malcolm at the LAT “Top of the Ticket”.

According to the Associated Press, Anastasia Tyler, a genealogist at Ancestry.com, says the president and the hockey mom [Sarah Palin] are 10th cousins by way of common ancestor Pastor John Smith, who settled in Massachusetts in the 17th century. […]

And if that weren’t weird enough, Tyler is also claiming that conservative radio legend Rush Limbaugh is also a 10th cousin of President Obama, once removed.

Malcolm lightheartedly concludes, “Since Thanksgiving is just a tad more than a month away, what do you think are the odds that President Obama invites his cousins over for the traditional American feast? ”

I commented on his blog that while I doubt the Palins and the Limbaughs are on the official WH Guest List, stranger things have been known to happen.

For example, as Free Republic points out, Hawaii law HRS 338-18 defines a person with “direct and tangible interest” for the purpose of obtaining certified copies of vital records as … “A person having a common ancestor with the registrant.”

Now that common ancestry has been established, Palin, Limbaugh, et al can legally request the yet to be released Long Form Birth Certificate for President Obama.

Stranger things, indeed.

And it only took them 18 years

The LA Times has discovered that Bill Clinton is a liar.

McCain gave money to Khalidi? The truth behind the meme

Yesterday, readers of our blog were witness to the birth of viral meme.

An 0bama troll dropped by our post on the LA Times video suppression, and informed us that the Obama-Khalidi association really wasn’t any big deal. Otherwise, why would John McCain have given over $400,000 to a Palestinian group that Khalidi worked with?

I googled his cut-and-paste comment and discovered that the exact same phrase had been already been posted to the internet over 500 times.

That same verbatim phrase now has been posted over 18,000 times!

Obviously the O-bots think it’s working.

The problem is, it is only a distraction, designed to produce an illusion.

Aaron Klein, writing at WND, shines the light of truth on the 0bama cover story.

It’s true that McCain distributed several grants, including one worth about half a million dollars, to the Center for Palestine Research and Studies, or CPRS, a West Bank organization associated with Khalidi.

What the 0-bots fail to mention is that CPRS is pro-Western and can be characterized as pro-Israel.

Its work has been condemned by the Palestinian leadership and by local terror groups as “Zionist propaganda.”

In contrast, the Khalidi organization Obama helped fund as a board member for a nonprofit, alongside domestic terrorist William Ayers, has taken a flagrantly anti-Israel line. Khalidi’s Arab American Action Network has hosted scores of Israel-bashing events, including at least one reportedly attended by Obama.

The Obama-Khalidi connection is one more straw. Is it the one that finally breaks the donkey’s back?

Free The Tape!!!

Obots continue LA Times distraction

Earlier this morning, we discussed the suppression of the Obama-Khalid tapes by the LA Times. The response from the O-Bot mafia was fast and furious. The strategy is to flood the internet with a particular talking point designed only to distract concerned voters from yet another questionable Obama association.

Any good sleight-of-hand requires a small distraction in order for the illusion to be successful. So it has become with the Rashid Khalidi story. Attempting to distract concerned voters from the attention given to Obama’s close friendship with the former PLO spokesman, 0-bot operatives have fanned out across the web to put forth the narrative that this is no big deal, because McCain was responsible for giving Khalidi’s group money through his chaimanship of the IRI.

The exact quote of the 0-bot narrative has now appeared on the internet some 534 times (and climbing). The distraction ignores the salient fact: McCain is a known quantity. Obama is not. The American People know John McCain: his military career, his legislative career, and his unquestioned love of country. The same is not known about the Democrat nominee. Obama’s past is opacity defined, and the people have a right to know much more about this man than has been gleaned from a media widely viewed as being “in the tank for Obama.”

The “cut and paste” talking point brigade has now posted the exact same talking point 780 times, verbatim. In fact, Alan Colmes just repeated it on television. Their best effort changes nothing. The public’s right to know is paramount.

Release the tape.

Coverup! LA Times suppresses incriminating obama video

Update: Any good sleight-of-hand requires a small distraction in order for the illusion to be successful. So it has become with the Rashid Khalidi story. end of update

from LAT:

John McCain’s presidential campaign Tuesday accused the Los Angeles Times of “intentionally suppressing” a videotape it obtained of a 2003 banquet where then-state Sen. Barack Obama spoke of his friendship with Rashid Khalidi, a leading Palestinian scholar and activist.

The Times first reported on the videotape in an April 2008 story about Obama’s ties with Palestinians and Jews as he navigated the politics of Chicago. The report included a detailed description of the tape, but the newspaper did not make the video public.

The Times is now claiming that they promised a source not to release the 2003 video … funny how they have waited so long to make this piece of information public.

The entire matter smacks of a Watergate-style coverup of the highest order. The LA Times is on the wrong side of this issue because the public’s right to know the truth is the sole purpose of press freedom. This is crucial evidence in the court of public opinion, and to deny the American People the opportunity to view the actual smoking gun evidence is inexcusable.

Release the tape
