Liar Liar Pants On Fire

BeFunky_josh-earnest.jpgHe’s better at parsing words than Bill Clinton.  Quite an accomplishment, that.

Lately, he seems to be slipping.  I’m talking about White House spokeshole Josh Earnest.  He lies.  You know he is lying.  He knows you know he is lying,  and, he makes no effort to try and make you believe that he’s not lying.  He used to do that; make you think he was on the level, trying his best to get the facts straight, the truth out.

Now, he’s just a lying turd.  A big one.

When confronted with a question about the millions of Americans who will have to cough up close to $2 Billion in penalty taxes this year for not having their health insurance as required by Obamacare (which was confirmed by the Administration’s own Treasury Department, as well as the CBO) Earnest replied,  “I don’t think it is accurate to suggest that millions of people are going to get a tax bill as a result of this.”

I had to really parse this one to make some sense.  Then it hit me.  How many of you actually get a tax bill?  Very few.  We voluntarily comply, fill out the forms, write the check, and curse the bastards for their spendthrift ways.  Right?  We don’t get a bill, unless we get an audit.  And most of those are the letter variety anyway.  So, Earnest is technically telling the truth.  Millions of Americans aren’t going to get a whopping tax penalty bill this year.  Nope,  they’ll simply pay it on April 15, or have it deducted from any anticipated refund.

What a turd.  Eat it Josh Earnest.  And your boss too.

Chrysler bondholders say threatened by White House

Update: Lauria on FNC

—–

Attorney Thomas Lauria, lead attorney for the Chrysler bondholders who have objected to the Obama restructuring plan, told ABC News that Obama car czar, Steve Rattner, suggested that officials of the Obama White House would embarrass the firm for opposing the Obama administration plan, which President Obama announced Thursday, and which requires creditors to accept roughly 29 cents on the dollar for an estimated $6.8 billion owed by Chrysler.

The White House has denied the allegation.

Lauria said the firm “was directly threatened by the White House and in essence compelled to withdraw its opposition to the deal under the threat that the full force of the White House press corps would destroy its reputation if it continued to fight. That’s how hard it is to stand on this side of the fence.”

Obama was highly critical of the bondholders as being “unwilling to sacrifice” in his remarks Thursday.

Lauria said the president saying he doesn’t stand with his clients “kind of sounds like ‘You’re fair game.’ In whatever sense. People are scared. They have gotten death threats. Some have been told people are going to come to their houses. God forbid if some nut did something, I’m just wondering how the president would feel.”

I can’t help but recall that these very same tactics were used by ACORN against AIG employees after Obama singled them out for scorn. Is ACORN behind this latest effort to intimidate the Chrysler bondholders?

RIP, Tony Snow

from CNN…

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Former White House press secretary Tony Snow — who once told reporters “I’m a very lucky guy” — died at the age of 53 early Saturday after a second battle with cancer.

Tony Snow responds to reporters at an October 2006 White House news conference.

Snow, who had been undergoing chemotherapy treatments for a recurrence of the disease, left his White House job September 14, 2007, and joined CNN in April as a conservative commentator.

President Bush said Saturday that he and first lady Laura Bush were “deeply saddened” by Snow’s death.

“The Snow family has lost a beloved husband and father. And America has lost a devoted public servant and a man of character,” the president said in a statement.

Tony was fun to watch. His high-pitched voice took some getting used to, but he carried himself so well on camera that you didn’t notice his voice after a while.

Whether speaking for the White House, or as the original host of Fox News Sunday, Tony was always well-prepared, asking intelligent questions, and unafraid to confront the agenda-style journalists of the pack media mentality.

Tony was a breath of fresh air, and he will be missed.
